Some tips of burn your belly fat
Incorporate these 6 things below and you will be on your way to a flatter belly in no time flat!
1. Sleep
If you want to work late at night, think again. When your biorhythms are off, you end up eating more. When youre tired you produce more ghrelin, which triggers cravings for sugar and other fat-building foods. Losing sleep can also alter your hormone production, affecting your cortisol levels that cause insulin sensitivity, prime reasons for belly fat! Getting about 7 hours of sleep a night is one of the best things you can do for your body shaping goals.
2. Short bursts of exercises
1000 crunches a night may get you strong abdominal muscles, but with a full layer of fat on top, you will not get the results you really want. Instead of all those crunches, do exercises that engage multiple muscle groups and work your cardiovascular system. Try planking, where you hold yourself in a push-up position, resting your forearms on the ground. Try 3 or 4 sets of holding for 30 seconds each. Getting up and moving throughout the day by going for walks will also help.
3. Sugar is your Enemy
Fighting belly fat is 80% healthy diet. Reduce calories by filling yourself up with protein, vegetables, whole grains, and replacing bad habit snacks with good ones. For example, if you have a sugar craving, replace your calorie laden latte with a Muscle Milk lite, one of my favorites, because it has zero sugar and a ton of protein that will satiate while also torching my sugar craving! Another great trick is a sprinkle of cinnamon in your morning coffee or oatmeal- the spice has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar. It also slows the rate at which food exits the stomach, which helps you feel fuller longer.
4. Vitamin C
When youre under extreme stress, you secret more cortisol hormone. Vitamin C helps balance the cortisol spikes that happen to you under this stress. Besides being a good way to counteract a cold, Vitamin C is also essential for making carnitine, a compound used by the body to turn fat into fuel, making this vitamin your fat burning friend.
If youre going through an emotional crisis, stress from work, or a bad eating splurge, increase your vitamin C itll help counteract the negative side effects. Try bell peppers, kale or kiwi fruits. These have even more Vitamin C than the famous Orange!
5. Eat Fat
Yup, you heard me! It takes fat to burn fat. Like I said above, its sugar that gets you fat, not fat. Good fats include foods rich in Omega 3′s, like salmon, avocados & walnuts. These foods are full of nutrients that help keep you satiated throughout the day.
6. Slowing down your breath
This is a very simple method that you can use even when youre in the midst of doing something else. Whenever you notice youre feeling tense and uptight check and see how youre breathing. Most people under stress either alternate holding their breath with short breaths, or take rapid shallow breaths. After you become aware of your own breathing, consciously relax your belly and slow down the breathing. This works best if you focus on slowing down the exhalation rather than your inhalation. With each exhalation you can say to yourself slow down. That is all there is to it- Simple but surprisingly effective!!!

Trying again and again
As of January 29th, my goal is to lose about 40 pounds by July. I'm a total noob with this stuff, so I should probably give myself more time.
My main problem is sleepyness and my meds. I'm dead tired all day every day and keeps me being active. And my current medication has made me gain over 20 pounds so far. Seriously, I'd take any other side effect. I've starting drinking a bunch of tea, it helps keep my appetite down and plenty of water (doctors orders.). Also, lots of fruit and vegetables. I try to do a little better each day, and not get too upset with myself when I make a mistake. Thankfully, my family is on board with me, we're all trying to lose weight and be healthier.

Apply These Tips To Your Weight Loss Plans
The challenge with weight loss is that it is as much of a physical challenge, as it is a mental challenge. If you ignore the portion size, you will fail. Similarly, if you neglect the mental portion, you will fail. It requires your complete physical and mental attention, in order for you to see any type of benefits, for all of your efforts.
1/ Don't be fooled that all chicken has less fat than other meat.
It's not the animal that matters, it's where the meat comes from on that animal. Every animal has areas where it stores more fat - even chicken. Dark chicken meat contains more fat than beef rump roast or top round, and twice the fat of pork tenderloin. The best part of the chicken to eat is the breast meat with the skin removed. Even better, eat turkey breast, as it has fewer calories.
2/ Don't expect to be perfect.
When on a diet, everyone slips up now and then, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, the guilt that you will probably feel about slipping up is actually a great motivator. It means that you are truly serious about your diet, and it should be pretty easy to get back into your weight loss routine. Stay positive, and remember to get back on track immediately... Read more

Hello everyone! Spedaval here and over the past few years I've been really struggling with my weight. When I was 15 my doctor told my I had hypothyroidism and that threw me into depression and I was already depressed due to issues with my family. After 3 years of medication my hypothyroidism had been fixed.
Now I'm 18 almost 19 and I'm 312 pounds I was 350 pounds around 5 months ago but I worked my butt off to lose the weight and I got down to 300 pounds. But then I lost all my motivation and I don't know why now I'm back to gaining weight but I wanna start working out again and get back to my original weight of 200.
I was wondering what sort of workout would be good to help me slim down all over. I was thinking of a mixure of squats, pushups, crunches, jumping jacks or using a jump rope, running, and doing some dumbell exercises would be good. But I would like some insight from people who have either been through what I've been through or just love to workout.
I am pre-diabetic and I need to lose weight. I know I wont be able to lose 112 pounds over night or even in a month but even a pound a day would be amazing.

Lose weight taking Cheap and Healthy Meals
You need to have a proper well formulated plan with regards to your calorie intake and even your budget as well. You need to know that if your focus is to lose weight, you should concentrate on picking your calories from necessary fat and proteins and not from tons of carbohydrates or grains.
If you are trying to shed extra pounds or even when your focus is merely on getting in better shape, you will have to consider a simple diet plan. When you are looking to eat healthy on a budget, you should check out many different protein sources. Go for veggies like Cabbage, Broccoli, Carrots, Spinach. Protin sources like Eggs, Lentels.. etc. These are few of the choices which prove to you regarding how eating healthy can turn out to cheap if you do your homework.

Online PT?
Hi
First I want to say thank you for a great website, great tips and all the good information you all share in here!
My name is Kate and I wonder if any of you have tried an online fitness coach, or online PT? They are so much cheaper but can they really do their job without meeting me? I looked at one; 'mysmarttraining dot com' and I'm suppose to fill in my personal data but I'm still unsure?!?!
Comments / advices please!
Cheers from Brussel

Mid-Morning and Mid-Afternoon Snacks?!
I need some suggestions for snacks in between meals. I am fairly confident in my breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals as far as calorie count and healthiness. But I am struggling with my snacks for work during the week.
Originally, when I shopped for this and next week, I bought pineapple tidbits. The horror when I realized that the tiny cup of pineapple had 13 grams of sugar. I am not diabetic that I know of but I haven't actually been to a Dr. to find out. My family history is enough for me to steer clear of sugar.
With that said, I just took a walk and got some dry roasted edamame, kiwi, and pickles. I also have crunchy peanut butter that I'll have a tablespoon of in the afternoon.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for snacks that are low calorie but will keep me full and also help accelerate my weight loss?
I prefer something that will last a while, I like carrots, celery and broccoli but I would prefer to dip them in ranch. I don't eat hummus.. Also, items that don't require a lot of prep as I am at work for these.

Hello All
Hello All. My name is Sal and I just joined this community. Just wanted to say "Hello" to everybody. I highly overweight right now. My current weight is 111.3 Kgs i.e 245.37 lbs. In 2011 I was 88 kgs only and 2013 I was 99 kgs. So, I am gaining weight. In 2014 I quit smoking. I was smoking for 15 years.
Reason for gaining weight is my other health issue since 2011. I am now out of danger and still getting better and kicking disease completely out of my system. I am not dying now:). I can this now because in 2011 situation was very different.
10 years ago, I never thought that weight will become an issue for me. I was of healthy weight in 2005 when a slow disease started to take over my body. I did not know about it until 2011. After that I fought the disease day and night and I am close to kicking the disease out of my system likely by end of the year but I am finding that I am gaining weight at same time too. Disease causes very weakness in my body so I have to lose weight slowly.
I am targeting 1 lb weight loss per week and hope to keep it consistent.
Thanks for reading my post :)

Need to get rid of belly fat
Hi guys,
My name is Matt and I have been exercising and dieting since October 2014.
I have lost 24 pounds since then which has made me feel so much better.
I exercise roughly 5 times a week and try and mix up my routines every day. However, I still cant get rid of the dreaded tire around my stomach.
Are there any effective exercises that can really help tone this area. I know that carrying on dieting is the best way but can I speed the process up with a certain exercise?
Thanks!

Need help with weight loss :'(
Hey guys im new here and anything fitness wise and I really would appreciate your help, I'll start off with my story. I'm a 17 year old male 6 foot and weight 14 pounds, all my life up until the age of 10 I've been tall and skinny but that all changed when i broke my ankle at 10 and gained considerable weight when I was off my feet. after years trying gyms, running I have nothing to show for it, I tried running but couldn't keep at it because people stared and laughed at me and didn't have the time for the gym back then and now don't have the money for it.
I have a muffin top, love handles and a belly and it looks weird on a tall guy with skinny arms and legs, I don't eat that much or bad. I calculated today that I consumed 600 calories when I need 2,600 on what I normally eat on a daily basis. Are there any exercises that I can do in my room I have 2 dumbbells that's it and I cant afford the gym or any other equipment. any help is appreciated :)

Less Talk - More Action
Hello. I am hoping to find a small group of people who have similar goals, routines, and weight loss to join me for my first 9 weeks to "reset" my lifestyle. I have previously lost 50lbs on a fad diet (HCG). I was very proud of myself when I did. However, here I sit, 10lbs heavier than when I started that diet in 2012. I'm 3000% ready to lose the weight for good (without the illness and weirdness that HCG caused me) and I expect it to be a long yet satisfying journey.
I have dealt with weight issues since I was 15 and have read A LOT about losing weight. In my opinion, it is very easy to do... But doing it is the real challenge. I don't have much patience so my plan is to dive into this and try to lose as much as possible within a reasonable time for normal weight loss. Over the past few months as my weight kept growing, I found myself going over in my head what I need to do to lose weight. Yesterday was the first time I acted on those conversations with myself. Finding someone or many people here that have similar mind-set and goals is important to me.
Here is MY PERSONAL 9-Week Plan/Stats:
5'9 - 229.6
For the next 9 weeks I plan to do the following:
I don't have a target weight for these 9 weeks. I just plan to work my ass off (literally). I use My Fitness Pal and I also have a daily checklist for my walked miles, water intake and stairs.
Hoping you want to join in this thread and be my buddy! Way too hard to get into an existing thread.

For the next 9 weeks I plan to do the following:
- Walk 1.5 hours a day (By Week 2 or 3 depending on weather I will start to rollerblade an hour/day instead)
- Complete 5 "stairs" a day increasing reps each week (4 Flights of Stairs at my office)
- Drink the recommended water intake for weight loss
- Diet: HIGH: protein, fiber, vegetables LOW: Carbs, Sugar, oils/fats

My weight loss/fitness Journey
New to this site but ready to get back into shape and lose weight. I am very disappointed in myself because I let myself go again and now I'm starting over. In January 2010 I weighed 186 and after doing every diet known to man I had just had enough. I felt like my whole life I had been dieting only to just keep creeping up. So I started something I had never tried before ... lowered calories and working out. I began with the treadmill 15 minutes at a time and increased in intensity and kept my calorie intake at 1000 calories a day. I lost weight fairly rapidly. I felt good and began taking cycling classes and power classes (weight training) at my gym and by August that same year I was 135 pounds and had abs :). I was in the best physical shape of my life and I felt amazing!!! I kept at it and eventually got down to 125 pounds and people were telling me I looked too thin (that hadn't happened ever). So I settled at 130 because I had lean muscle which weighs more that fat. That was the ideal weight for me on my 5'4" frame. Well the bad news ... In August 2013 I severely dislocated and broke my middle toe. Not fun. I couldn't exercise at all for several months and then just when I was ready to hit the gym I had a gallbladder attack and had to have surgery to have that removed. That put me out of exercise for a few more months and I just never could get my routine back. In 1 1/2 years I have put back almost all the weight. Because I wasn't working out I was trying every diet there was to lose weight. I did the master cleanse twice and several other diets and I am convinced that these diets did more damage to me because of how fast I put this weight back on. I have decided to get back to what worked for me ... just plain ole calorie counting and working out. Today is day 1. Going to the gym tonight with my husband and determined to do 45 minutes on the treadmill and some light weights. I don't want to overdue it on day 1 and get injured but really wanting to get my body back. My daughter says it takes 21 days to make a habit so I really need to focus right now on just the next 3 weeks. My goal is to go to the gym 6 days a week for the next 3 weeks. Going to watch my calories as well but right now I need to reestablish that workout routine.

Here's How I did it !
Hey there .
I was 21 and i was eating street food very often and soon i realized i started gaining weights fastly. But then also i ignored it and continue eating heavy food with lots of fat. Soon in about 1 year i increased the weight and fat a lot about ( About 40-50 lbs ). then i took a serious look at me because every one was starting to tease me and i dont like that. I tried lots of tips and methods to lose my weight but none was working. And then my friend told my about a product which literally changed my life from fatty hell to sliminess . It was not some pills or any other crap . It was a e-book and fitness plan which focuses on your leptin ( It is a hormone made by fat cells, which regulates the amount of fat stored in the body ) . This guide helps us to understand the levels of leptin and how to take benefit of it to lose weight. I literally Follow every steps given in book and videos and Today here i am sharing my story with you guys to help you out.
I found that weight loss guide here
Thank you

Can you?
YIKES!! I cannot afford a weight loss program nor can I afford all the "diet" foods. Can a person just cut down on everything they eat?

Eating out of BOREDOM
Hi all,
I am 58, a widow and need to lose weight. I have been heavy all my life. I got to be happy with myself before I can make anyone else happy. My husband died in 2004 and I have wanted to start dating again. 11 years is a good long time to wait. I waited because it wouldn't make me happy. Losing weight would make me happy. These diets, too expensive. Can I just cut down on everything? I just do not have the money to buy all the "correct" foods to eat. I am on disability and you know, I only get paid once a month so after 2 weeks I am broke. Fruits do not last a whole month or is there some kind that does? The main reason I eat is out of boredom. Nothing to do during the day but sit in front of the computer which is also in front of the TV. I am getting lazier by the minute. Also not liking the place I live does not help. I do not even want or get dressed during the day! I need a change!
Thanks,
Me123

Well this is my first day on this forum. It was my birthday yesterday & thought it was time to kick my fat arse into shape. I have made numerous excuses over the last year not to do anything but I feel the time is right to crack on with it. My goal is to lose 4 stone which is only 56 lb, lol. I'd like to do this by june & then maintain the healthier me. My plan is clean food & exercise.
Right then now for the embarressing bit! I weigh a moosive 208 lb. Bloody hell this is the fatest I've ever been but will never be this heavy again!!

Weightloss Coffee
So, I've fluctuated in weight for years and years. I'm only 5'2 so an extra 10-15 lbs is a lot to deal with.
I've studied nutrition, anatomy & physiology and the everyday eating of junk food. I know about the sweat, pain and struggle to keep your figure at the ever reaching standards that you know you hold yourself to.
Car accident, injury, rehabilitation, lack of exercise, lack of sun, lack of motivation, lack of good food
eventual
depression, anxiety, uncontrollable emotions
Then I found a weightloss coffee that my sister in law discovered.
I drink coffee and tea anyway so why not try. Besides, it's all natural, kosher, and gluten free.
After all the check marks next to the quality control standards my organic and low medication household, it was a go.
About a month after drinking I felt more energy for sure. With more pep to my step and I began my journey to feeling great.
My memory increased dramatically. I seriously began to think that my memory would just be problematic and I would have to adjust to it.
As I lost more weight and felt better, I would make decisions like, "Yeah, I'll work out. Why not, I'm not tired."
Then came into play the age old saying "a body in motion tends to stay in motion."
With my new coffee and tea, I seriously feel like my life has started again.

DESPERATE for HELP!!!
Hello there! I am in DESPERATE need of suggestions.
I am very well versed in nutrition and exercise. I am a nurse practitioner and have spend my whole adult life focusing on a healthy diet and exercise. Since I was a child, it has always been very hard for me to maintain my weight.
I have eaten a Vegan diet for 2 years now. For 6-7 years, I have eaten 1200ish calories per day. I have VERY strong self control. I make sure to get protein in the form of a whey protein shake for lunch and or dinner. I dont eat any fast food or desserts. I will occasionally overeat on Christmas or something, but that is it.
I love to work out. For the last 5 years I have done a bootcamp M/W/F every week. In the last 2 years, I started running too. Typically 5-8 miles. I am now training for a marathon. I run about 20-25 miles total in a weeks times.
Typical week:
Monday: boot camp in morning, running after work.
Tues: Run in morning, run after work
Wed: Boot camp in morning
Thursday: Run in morning, run after work
Friday: boot camp in morning, usually run after work
Saturday: long run (10-13 miles)
Sunday: rest or run
I do all the things "they" say to do: drink tons of water, eat small meals through out the day, focus on high protien diet, dont eat after 6pm, get 8 hours of sleep, ect.
When in college, I worked crazy hard to get to 125 for my wedding. Since then, I have steadily gained weight despite increasing my efforts. I now weigh 150! (I am 5'7") I know its not an unhealthy weight. My BMI is 23. My %body fat is 21.5%. I know this is healthy. My frustration lies in the fact that its taking SO MUCH to just stay this weight! I work out 10-12 times per week and eat 1200 calories and stay the same.
I have the most amazingly supportive husband that has allowed me to consult several (expensive) professionals.
Nutritionist: She had me increase my total calories slowly over 3 months. (1400 for 1 month, and 1600 the next 2 months). I gained 7 ilbs and have not gotten it back. I stopped consulting her and went back to 1200.
Endocrinologist: I do have slight hypothyroidism. I was started on medication 2 years ago. I am still increasing my dose slowly. I am up to 100 mcg with a goal to have my TSH close to 1. She did all sorts of hormonal labs to make sure nothing else was wrong. All came back normal. (TSH: 2.08, Free T4: 1.3, Free T3: 2.5, Cortisol: 0.7, Testosterone: 41, 17-Hydroxyprogesterone)
Personal Trainer: On tues/thurs I have a personal trainer that coaches me and 2 other on running.
Exercise Physiologist: Had my resting metabolism measured, as well as my % body fat. My resting metabolism is 1340 (low average). By his calculations, I should eat 1400-1800 calories per day. It would take 2300 calories per day for me to gain weight per his calculations.
My % body fat with the calipers is 21.5%.
Hypnosis: Yep, this is how far I went. It was better than I thought. I wanted to see if they would help me be more positive about my goal. Obviously, i get down about it sometimes because of my serious hard work and lack of results. I do feel more positive about it. He also told me to focus on listening to my body. Eat when Im hungry. Stop when Im full. Eat slow, drink lots of water between. Im have been working on this.
So... what do you think?
Am I missing something? Does anyone have any suggestions that can help? I am getting super desperate.

Moving mountains
...or a better title I have neither the time nor the wit to think of.
I'm back (again.) I really, really fell off the wagon these past few months. Christmas really kicked me in arse and I did literally nothing to try and steer myself back on track. As we rapidly approach the end of January I have realised I need to get it together again and get this weight off!
I just went to buy some new work trousers (I got a promotion!) and found that I had gone up a dress size. Or, rather stiff, uncomfortable suit trousers do not fit in my regular size (my current clothes all still fit, fortunately) but still....urg :(
On top of this I have decided to climb Mount Snowdon in August. It's a long way off, I know, but if I keep pushing back my health and fitness and weight loss regimes August will sneak up on me and I will not be ready to tackle that challenge. At. All.
I feel pretty positive and happy in general, but I desperately need to be in a healthy weight range. I've just eaten dinner so I'll weigh myself tomorrow and adjust my ticker accordingly *gulp*

It's about time.
I'm fed up with my current lifestyle and have made the decision to dedicate some time completely to self-improvement. I've been battling depression for a while and I just blew up. It's as simple as that, the laziness took over. I gained a ridiculous amount of weight in a short amount of time, and now I need to lose it.
I've been lurking around this site for a while, and your stories are inspiring. I had such mixed feelings looking through your progress. On one hand I was happy to see someone changing their life in the most gratifying way, but a deep shame quickly made me want to never come back. I still did though, and now I'm ready to become an active member of this community.
I looked at the scale last night and was overwhelmed with disbelief. How could I let myself get to 235 pounds? I'm 19, 5'1" and have 100 lbs to lose.
My life has been stagnant, and I'm making the decision to leave the nest in about 3 months. I'm quitting my job to focus solely on my schooling and weight-loss. I have no idea where to start but I will.

Am I on the right track?
Hey All,
I'm trying to lose weight and need a little guidance. I'm 27 years old, 6'1" and currently weigh 225. My weight has fluctuated a lot over the years due to having Crohn's disease, but the weight I've liked myself the most at is 160 (I have very little muscle mass).
So I'm trying to lose 65 pounds. I've started by cutting down to 1500 calories a day, and walking 9-10 miles a day. The weight loss app I'm using says my net calories after the walking is 1000-1100 a day.
How much success am I going to have with this plan, and roughly how many pounds a week would you estimate I'll lose? Any other guidance you'd give?
Thanks everyone!

4th Jan i decided I'm going to make a change, i cannot tie my shoes or reach down to pick something up, i had this blob of belly fat blocking my way.
i know that this is all my fault and i drank to much and eat to much well before the xmas glut and now my knees are sore and in out of breath, i think its just time to go hard ball.
I spent a lot of time looking around past a lot of the fad diets the movie stars use ( i mean cotton wool soaked on milk?, fark that) and i remembered id seen a movie by Joe Cross called Fat Sick And Nearly Dead a way back,
so i went and watched it again on you tube and that made me decide id do similar.
7th Jan i weighed my self this morning 116.5kgs, and im sure i heard the scales say get off me........ i have set my mind to do this and so i am starting with a 7 day juice diet.
i have allways loved juice as it is so im liking this so far.
13th Jan its been not as hard as i thought and didn't get headaches or fatigue as many say you get, but i do miss chewing, any how im down to 112.8kg in the 7 days so that cool, and the wife says she can see it gone from my chest.
i have to say its going to be strange to eat grilled meat and lots of veg again, as that's what im going on now after the 7 days detox.
15th Jan strange, iv been very good and no sliding off the band wagon, just veg and grilled meat and a heap of water and iv done a heap of weights and tried cycle and my weight has not changed, not up or down??, any how im on the food for the week.
19th Jan have gone back to the juice again as i didn't loses weight or Gain it on food so as i found it not an issue in juicing again and when i don't get a chance if found V8 3 veg juice is a good substitute and i love the taste and its low sodium, lest see how this go's, also did 18km on the static bike tonight and im sure ill be sore in the morning.
23rd Jan juicing seems to work for me as im now down to 110 this morning and feeling really energetic and i can see my feet now as it was always blocked by my belly.
being doing a lot of weights and cycling and walking.
looking forward to swimming tonight as well, roll on 89kg's
PS: ill post start and stage pictures soon, when i reach mid 90's kgs

Top FAQs on Weight Loss Programs
Here are the answers to some of the most commonly encountered questions on the subject of weight loss programmes.
Surely all I have to do is reduce my calorie intake?
Of course, to some extent that statement is correct as it stands.
The truth of that can be seen by anyone who looks at pictures of individuals who have, for whatever reason, suffered a severe reduction in their calorie intake.
However, it is dangerous to think about dieting in terms of simply cutting out calories. That's because reducing weight whilst maintaining good health is key. Simply starving yourself may have detrimental effects on your health that far outweigh the beneficial effects of losing weight in the process.
In modern dieting approaches, calorie counting is just one method of several that might be used in order to prepare a regime that's suitable for the biology of the individual concerned.
Why can't I just cut out all harmful fats?
You can and it is generally accepted that we should all be doing much more to reduce some of the fats in the modern western diet that are known to be potentially harmful.
Remember though that some forms of fat are not only beneficial but they are actually essential for healthy wellbeing. You may cause yourself ill health by simply removing all fat from your diet.
Once again, the control of fat intake needs to form part of an overall plan for your weight loss that is put together with a specialist rather than simply based on eliminating one entire foodstuff or food type.
Can I lose weight if I do not have time to exercise?
Yes, you most certainly can.
In fact, there are numerous weight loss success stories that have been generated by diets requiring relatively little, if any, direct exercise for weight loss.
Do keep in mind though that exercise isn't only important from the point of view of losing weight. It is extremely beneficial to the cardio-vascular system and is associated with a reduction in the risk of many diseases.
So, whatever the difficulties involved, try to find time for at least some modest exercise though if you are heavily overweight or suffer from other medical conditions, you should consult a doctor beforehand for their advice on how much and what type of exercise you should engage in.
Why do some diets require blood tests?
There are a number of reasons why this may be advisable.
Firstly, although most causes of weight troubles arise from consuming too much of the wrong type of food, some actually come about for medical reasons that are unconnected with diet. They need to be identified and treated.
A second reason, one that is only now becoming fully appreciated by nutrition scientists, is that there are indicators in the blood that can be used to identify what type of foodstuffs are likely to be more successful for a diet than others.
So, practitioners of these diet programs will use the results of your blood test in order to construct a regime that is most likely to be effective in the case of the individual concerned. It's a substantially different approach from the past, where there was a tendency to preach one diet above all others.

I found it pretty interesting as she seems to really know and explain the science behind it and everything. I know we're not suppose to include links in these posts so I won't. But it's called Earthling Weight Loss. I bought her book and am reading it now. I've lost 10 pounds eating as much as I want. It's pretty crazy. What do you all think?

HI i'm bunni and i'm cursed i have the biggest sweet tooth on earth. i am literally never not craving sugar. i fantasize about ten foot long gummy worms probably at least 7 times a day and every night i fall asleep thinking about what it would be like to bathe in nutella. i've had this problem forever which is why i had to cut out the sugary things i love. i can't just have little bits of it.. once i take a bite of something sugary it's like i go into a full out frenzy and there is no end in sight.

Losing Weight With Hypnosis
Everyday people are bombarded with ads that proclaim this diet or that pill or my exercise program will allow you to lose weight and keep it off permanently. Yet for all of these books, diet programs, pills and exercise equipment, people struggle to lose and keep the weight off permanently. It's frustrating. Because of this more and more people are turning to hypnosis as an alternative method to help them lose weight.
Studies have shown that hypnosis is a very effective method of both losing weight and keeping the weight off. It can work solely by itself. It works with any diet plan. It works with any exercise plan. So what makes hypnosis so effective?
Hypnosis works from the inside out. Diets and exercise programs work from the outside in. By this I mean that diets and exercise programs assume that losing weight is simply a physical issue. Hypnosis works in the opposite direction.
Hypnosis starts with the mind. Hypnotists believe is that the body is a reflection of the mental image we have of ourselves. Once a person changes the mental image, the mind must create the physical representation of this image.
Here's an example of how a traditional diet without hypnosis works. A person believes that they are fat. They go on a diet telling themselves that they are fat and need to lose weight. This person goes on the diet, loses a few pounds. During this period the person continues to tell themselves that they are overweight. The person struggles, gives up and feels like a failure. What happened? Simply this, the person's mental image was that of an overweight person. Because of this image the mind did everything in its power to maintain the physical representation of the mental image. Yes it let the body lose a few pounds but when the weight lose became too great and the physical body began to differ from the mental image by too much, the mind stepped in and began to create the urges and desires to eat more food. The mind created the struggles that led to the person giving up the diet and returning to their previous weight. It's called yo-yo dieting.
So how does hypnosis overcome this? The first step is the most important and that is to create a new image of you. In a state of hypnosis it is very easy to imagine anything you desire. So in this state a person imagines an image of themselves that is at the correct weight and shape that they want. They create this image in such a realistic fashion that the mind believes that this in fact the self image the person has of themselves. And through hypnosis it actually does become the self image.
After the new self image is firmly established the second step occurs, the mind must create the physical representation of this image. Now instead of causing the person to eat too much or eat the wrong types of foods as happened with the overweight person, the mind does just the opposite. It creates new beliefs about food and eating that are in alignment with those of a slim trim person. And the best part, it does this automatically.
People who use hypnosis to lose weight find that their eating habits change without their even thinking about it. They find themselves eating less. They find themselves eating better foods. They find themselves exercising more, all of this and without them even having to think about it. They no long even think about counting calories at a meal. They no longer have to think about which foods to eat and which to avoid. They no longer have to force themselves to go to the gym. Because of the new mental image they have of themselves, the mind creates these new programs and they run automatically, without any conscious thought. This is what makes hypnosis effective and it is what makes losing weight with hypnosis so easy.
If you struggle with your weight, find a good hypnotist in your area and end the struggle. Use hypnosis to change your self image and your physical body must follow.

Time to take control
Hi
I'm new to this forum.
I'm trying to get healthy. I carry my weight on my middle which I know is really bad.
My Mum had a stroke at 53.
I love food (maybe a little too much) and I turn to food when I'm bored or pee'd off.
I'm a self confessed sugar addict.
I'm trying to cut out sugar and stick to 1200cals a day Mon-Fri then on weekend allow a bit extra and a cheat if I really need it.
I'm really looking for some guys to share with as I know support is key to me especially for the boredom and feeling down eating. It helps to keep or get back on track.
Thanks Mkeats :-)

Young and Fat
Hi there,
I've always been bigger than most people but at the start of last year I lost a bit of weight and felt really good about myself, since then I've slowly been putting it back on and I'm sick of it now. I'm making a considerable effort to lose the weight and to keep it off this time.
After looking around a bit, at only 19, I'm one of the younger members of this forum, but you all seem like lovely people :)
To try and get myself to stick to it, I'm posting my progress on youtube.
I hope I don't get banned for posting that, I'm not trying to sell anything, it'd just be nice to have some people cheering me on and supporting me.
Thanks for reading guys and good luck to you all.

Proteins and Weight Loss???
Theres a big difference between good and bad weight loss. The good kind, the kind we should all strive for, is losing the least amount of muscle in relation to body fat.
Getting enough protein is one of the keys to preserving the most muscle while dieting, but research shows protein may be lacking in a lot of weight loss diets, considering that on average the amount of weight loss most people have is about 30 percent from muscle.
Some of early research has shown, for example, that dairy proteins such as whey have been able to lead to greater fat loss while maintaining muscle.
Now a new randomized, double-blinded study has shown that whey protein supplementation can further help preserve more muscle compared to soy or carbohydrate (1). The study was published in December in the Journal of Nutrition by researchers from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
Researchers found that the group that consumed whey protein showed greater muscle protein synthesis (MPS) compared to subjects consuming either soy or carbohydrate. Moreover, the carbohydrate group had less fat breakdown compared to the group consuming whey.
Regular resistance training of muscles in combination with obtaining quality sources of protein such as whey regularly is the key to maintaining muscle during weight loss.

Regular resistance training of muscles in combination with obtaining quality sources of protein such as whey regularly is the key to maintaining muscle during weight loss.

Weight loss = depression and fatigue
Every time I start losing weight I become depressed and so lethargic I cannot function at all. The longer I go eating healthy and losing weight the worse it gets. I've tried many diets and "life style changes" with similar results. Exercise seems to make things even worse. It makes no sense at all. Everyone I've ever talked to feels better as they lose weight, eat healthier and exercise. It's the exact opposite for me. Any thoughts or advise would be GREATLY appreciated as I'm desperate. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am new and looking for advice / guidance
Hi!
My name is Beth and I am looking for a community to share thoughts, vent frustrations, and look for advice from people who have had similar experiences and frustrations. I am 41 years old, will be 42 in June and I am back in a pretty active workout routine. I have been in fitness since my early 20s and have yo yo-ed in weight more than I care to admit. I am currently on medication for hypothyroidism, have had fertility treatments a little over a year and a half ago, and in Dec. 2013 had emergency surgery to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor.
Before the tumor was removed, I was at my highest weight since high school (175 lbs). Once the surgery was over, and I am sure it was because I was not able to eat for about 2 days, but I lost down to my low weight (151). I ate healthy while recovering, drank a metric ton of water, and started exercising on an air strider once I was able. About a month after the surgery, my weight started going up and before I knew it, I was up 15 lbs. Go figure. Went back to the gym when I was able, started slow and worked my way up, but never really pushed myself like I could. I went through bursts of activities, never really sticking with it, and with the new year, I am feeling motivated to be at my low weight again and then lose 10 more pounds. So, here is my frustration, and I may need a mental check ...
I am starting week 3 of better, healthier eating (I refuse to do meal replacement shakes because I want to have sustenance to give me energy as I am active and to hopefully speed up my apparently crappy metabolism). The past two weeks, I have gone to the gym 6 days a week. I keep up with food intake and activities/calories burned on myfitnesspal. I am drinking about 100 ounces of water a day (well, trying anyway). I am doing both cardio and strength training. I started from couch to 5k today - 3 times a week is my goal, I do Zumba once a week, PiYo once a week, Power Yoga twice a week, Body Combat twice a week, Body Pump Once a week, a 30 minute Spin Express once a week, and on Friday nights, I usually do my own cardio through the elliptical or Stair Master. I personal train once a week for 30 minutes and I try to add about 30 or 45 minutes of weights before cardio classes. My first week, myfitnesspal estimated I burned about 4000 calories in a week. The second week, I burned about 5600 calories. I am eating anywhere from 1260 - 1600 calories a day (depending on the day and how active I will be).
The scale is not going anywhere. I did drop 3 1/2 pounds by the end of last week, but that is it. Now, I know the scale is a number and I should look at how my clothes fit and inches lost; however, with ALL I am doing, wouldn't it be logical to lose something as a measurement of what I am burning. That is all I am using the scale as - a measurement to see if what I am doing is working. I was up a pound from last week (I weigh before training). Granted, water weight is not my friend and I did have a lot of water today and not enough bathroom visits. I expressed my frustrations to my trainer and she told me it could take up to three weeks or more to see changes. However, when I look at my friend's progress on myfitnesspal, they are posting often about weight loss (even if it is a little at a time).
Now regardless of the scale, I am going to keep doing this because I do feel good after I workout and considering my age and all I have been through, I am grateful to be this active. I just want to see results and am getting impatient.
Thanks for reading. :-)

Me, Myself, and I
Im 17 and fat tTO BE HONEST. Ive been like this most of my life and the only time i was "almost skinny" was when i was in 6th grade because i got anemia and lost a sh*tload of weight. People actually noticed the difference and asked me what i was doing to lose the weight. But i quickly gained it back so it doesnt really matter anymore. Now im in highschool and im surrounded by sooo many girls who have a nice body and wear fashionable clothes but i cant wear that because i would look ATROCIOUS!! MY biggest reason for losing weight is.........MY CHUBBY A*S CHEEKS!! I hate them with a passion and this is really the cause of my low self esteem!! If my face was slim and my body is the way it is right now, then i wouldnt even be bothering to lose weight but i have chubby cheeks with a fat body. I recognize that i am not OVERLY fat. i am 5'4 and weigh 130 lbs. To many this seems in the "healthy" range, BUT when it comes to how i look physically, i just dont look right. i have skinny legs with fat mostly in my abdomen and cheeks. I just want to get rid of my chubby cheeks, have a slim/feminine body with curves, and get a bigger booty. Sooooo........ does anybody have a similar issue like me??? and..... does anybody have any suggestion on how i can solve my problem??
Canned vs Fresh Foods
Hey Everyone!
I started trying to eat more fresh and it's done amazing for me! A lot less sodium and more vitamins.
Check out some of the labels next time you're at the store compared to say canned salsa and fresh salsa. Or canned veggies and fresh veggies.
Also be careful of canned foods in oil vs water. Look at tuna canned in oil vs water.
Just reading labels can help a lot. I've noticed I can eat the same kinds of foods, just need to be smart about buying canned or fresh :coolgleamA:

Hello all
I'm new. Male . 5'10. Started at 235 on January 5th. Want to get to 175 by July 10 (my birthday). I'll be using the forums as a support tool and try to help others as best I can.
Is it healthy to lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks?
Ok, so starting January 5th of this year I began a journey to lose 60 pounds in 6 months. Lo and behold after about 2 or so weeks, I've already lost 15 pounds. I'm not starving myself or anything, but since the healthy weight loss is 2 pounds per week, I'm a little scared in losing too much too fast. Is this healthy?
Right now I'm averaging around about 2000 calories a day, down from the 3500-4000 I used too ( I never really kept count, but there would be days I would have 4-5 cans of pop and eat half a carton of ice cream. I work full time as a merchandiser for Pepsi (which I consider a labor intensive job) and work out approximately 3 times per week doing cardio (run between 2-3 miles) and a few sets of sits and push ups. I want to push it to 4 times this week but I don't want to get hurt doing so as well. Anyone have any advice on my problems? I'd really appreciate it!
Also, one of the goals I set was I wouldn't shave until I lost 30 pounds... And this beard is getting might itchy!

Causes weight gain
Eating disorders, and a high-calorie diet, the consumption of large quantities of full-fat foods has an essential role in weight gain, Fat on the importance of the body greatly contribute to weight gain.

How to reduce the weight:
First, select a path for yourself and realistic goal for weight loss:
To decrease your weight should have an incentive and determination to lose weight, and determine a realistic goal to lose weight at least 5% to 10% of your current weight within 3 to 6 months.

The rocket scientist diet
My real problem is not losing weight. My real problem is being, and feeling healthy. I have developed a health strategy, and losing weight has been a by-product of that and was not my main goal. I am a space scientist and I run a software business so I know about as much about nutrition as a nutritionist knows about space science. I want to take my health strategy further but I am not sure how to do that. The punchline is I managed to lose weight using my simple ideas where I had tried for years dieting and taking nutrition advice and failed. If you read my story and connect with it then I need your help. And, no I am not asking for any money!
First some background. I was putting on weight, albeit a small amount each month, so becoming over-weight came at me so slowly I didn't pay enough attention to it. The main issue I had was feeling tired and unhealthy all the time. I rushed in head first because I thought OK, this is not rocket science and even if it is, heck I really am a space scientist so I can ace this. I just need to eat better and do more exercise. Easy peasy right. All great in theory but there are some very important problems and how these geniuses from top universities are overlooking these issues is just as interesting as the issues themselves.
Firstly, if someone else is watching and caring about your weight, that pushes you to make it a priority. Isn't that obvious? So, these weight loss studies do not take into account the effect of just doing the study itself. Also, lets see how many of the participants keep the weight off and how does that compare with people who did something else. Therefore I want to test my strategy with a large number of volunteers who do not know me and I will have no contact with.
The next thing is determining what should be the goal. Is it to be healthy or to lose weight? There are tons of diet books and websites and videos and magazines and TV shows and argggh! out there. I know, probably like you, I tried to read them all. If you have ever dieted you know the vast array I am talking about. Some of them purportedly help you lose weight fast but don't clearly mention that it could severely damage your health. I really wonder if you would not be better off just going to a surgeon and asking them to cut your leg off. 30 pounds lost instantly! Boom shackalakalaka! Just losing weight is and was not my goal. Also between you and me I think we all find healthy people attractive no matter what they weigh. So the main goal is to look and feel good and not just lose weight per se.
I think you can not expect people to be robots. I am sorry but I am going to fall off the wagon regularly because of things that happen in my life. I can only promise I will do what I can do and when I can do it. temet nosce. I am sure there are people out there with cast iron wills that can just set their mind to it and lose weight. I don't think those people have a weight problem in the first place! So, my strategy is not sensitive to falling off the wagon.
I do not think you can separate health from time and cooking. I do not have a lot of time to waste. Who does? I want to eat good food but I do not want to spend ages on it. Eating out every day is not a solution. Cooking looks so fast on TV. Just a few ounces of this washed and chopped stuff, and two table spoons of this other thing I never had to measure or shop for, and blah blah blah. For the rest of us mortals lets see them go find and buy the ingredients then wash and clean and chop and weigh and cook them and then wash and clean up afterwards and then say how long it really takes. So the real key for me is being able to eat things that don't take a lot of time end-to-end and keep for a long time in the fridge or freezer so I don't have to throw out food or go shopping every day. Also, shocker, I hate washing and cleaning! So my strategy includes a way of reducing this time and making shopping and cooking easier.
So now you understand why what I want really is tougher than rocket science. However, I am trying to solve the actual problems. I am not just applying some solution that works on something else and assuming it should work here too. That is because fools rush in and solve the problem where angels feared to thread :-)
In summary I have set out my requirements for my health strategy such that it is realistic and workable:
1. It has to be an over-riding principle that I can easily understand and apply. Something like what the law of conservation of energy is to physics.
2. I should be able to do this on my own.
3. I want to eat tasty food that I actually want to eat enough of it so I feel totally satisfied. In other words I do not want to feel hungry.
4. It has to be healthy for my brain and heart and other organs. It's no good looking healthy if my kidneys are turning to mush.
5. It must not be overly sensitive to my actions. I mean, if I fall off the wagon for a few days in a month it should not mean I am back to square one.
6. It must not take a lot of time to implement. Cooking, shopping etc.
7. I want to stop putting on weight and ideally lose weight slowly until my weight stabilizes.
After much research I finally developed the strategy last year but my problem now was I needed to conduct an experiment to see if it really worked. The only person I could experiment on was myself. OK, so I could have gone out to find some volunteers at that point but I felt stupid asking someone else to try something I had not tried myself. I weighed myself at my doctor's office last year. I had all my clothes on so it was not accurate to the gram. I also knew that if I weighed myself regularly and I found I was losing weight I would start "thanking" myself for doing well by treating myself to chocolate ice cream etc. That temet nosce thing again. Hence I have not weighed myself since but plan to at the end of this month after my birthday so given Christmas and the new year were also in this period I think it will be a good worst-case scenario.
I have not done any exercise in this period bar dancing to pop music every now and then for a few minutes at home with my daughter. I did buy a treadmill and pointed it at the TV and promised to only watch TV while I was walking on it. Then I decided this would taint the experiment since I just wanted to know the effect of my strategy without doing any exercise. Thank you. I already know. I am full of it. The real reason is I just haven't really wanted to. Honestly, I will do this when I really want to :-) temet nosce again at the risk of being even more pretentious by quoting Latin phrases I picked up watching The Matrix.
The result of executing my health strategy thus far is:
1. I look and feel healthier
2. I sleep better
3. I am nicer to other people in general
4. My muscles feel harder. That is totally not something I expected.
5. I look thinner and my trousers are falling off all the time now so I've had to tighten my belt but as I said I have not weighed myself yet
That is pretty much everything I wanted really and then some.
Now I would like some volunteers to try it out in a real scientific trial. Back in the real world however that is very expensive. The next best thing is to find at least a hundred random people in the same boat as me who do not know me at all and are willing to volunteer to try it out for a month or two and not going to sue me for anything and not going to contact me until the end of the trial period.
Meanwhile, any tips, ideas, encouragement and help to take things to the next step would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
