Hello hello hello

Hi I'm dcal, I love staying in shape , being skinny and sharing to others my top secrets. Stay tuned

Help!

Okay, maybe 'help' is a little dramatic....I am new here. I posted my introduction yesterday. One moderator responded and referred me here. I have no idea how this works, so anyone willing to educate me on this, well, it would be appreciated. What I can tell you is this: I am a 55 year old single guy, living in Maricopa, Arizona. In my youth I was very athletic, playing sports through college. Now, I am almost at 300 lbs. I still have that weekend warrior, competitive mindset, but my out of shape body doesn't match that mentality. I am very hard on myself when I fail, and right now I am heading towards a 'low point.' I need accountability, and being single makes that a real challenge. Exercise is not a problem for me as don't mind working out when I have the time. Eating wise, I am a disaster (okay, a little dramatic again)....I eat poorly and use food to feel better at times. I also work crazy hours (7p.m.-7 a.m.) 3 nights a week at a Psych Hospital. My work is stressful, which probably doesn't help with comfort eating. Plus, dinner may be at 3 a.m. some nights. Anyhow, I know I'm rambling, so I'll stop now. In short, I'm not in a good place right now. I'm in need of some support and inspiration if any is out there. I don't know you and you don't know me. It's not like me to 'lay it out there' to strangers as I am now, but I figure it can't hurt at this point. I greatly appreciate you listening and hopefully will hear back from some of you. Thanks.

Losing fat and not muscle, ...

Hello here is my story, I come here seeking help to permanently reduce my weight and cholesterol and lead a better, longer life hopefully, I thank you in advance for your advice. I am now 38 years old. About 3 years ago I weighed 260 lbs and lost 70, going down to 190 at my lowest. The last four years or so I have been riding my mountain bike fairly profusely, which has helped me lose weight. The past year or so I have eaten a diet too high in fat I know and a lot of protein as well. My riding has increased actually, and I have excellent stamina and strength. Problem is I now weigh 240 lbs. Although some of this is definitely muscle tissue, a lot is fat. I read somewhere you cannot outwork a bad diet. I have researched a lot of different diets and I know that it is a bad idea to go on that train, at this point all my research is just confusing. Can I please get some help in recommending a basic weekly diet that will help me lose weight, and still provide me the nutritional needs that someone who works out about 3 - 6 hours a week needs. I am five foot 10 inches.

My Diary - how things unfold as I work on me from the inside out.

First up thank you to Cate for finding me god knows how long ago over on the Cohens section. :waving:

How much weight do you want to lose?
A whopping 52.6kgs

What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
12 Months

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
Cohens Lifestyle Clinic

Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
First of all me. I have to be my biggest supporter, family, this community.

How realistic is your goal?
Totally, it's been proven.

When will you start?
Did start went strong for 5 months and lost 37kgs. Lost the plot for 4 months and regained 14.2kgs. Started afresh Monday and am down 2.6kgs.

What is your current height and weight?
173cm 114.6kgs

If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
62 kgs.

At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
95kgs

Why do you want to lose weight?
Honestly? At this point a lot for someone else. The rest for me. To have the benefits everyone wants. Feel good look great. Be able to wear what I like, you know, all those things. I need it to be 100% for me though and that's what I'm working on. There will be more on this question in my diary over the next 12 months for sure.

Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
I'm going to a rock concert in January and want to have lost some for that. Other than that nothing specific other than wanting to do all the things I put off. Wanting to really live my life.

What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
Many. But the main one being a rebellious attitude which pops up when I deal with too much emotional stress and start thinking like this: "Grr!! So many people use drugs and alcohol to escape stress and fall back on. I am tired of digging deep and relying on my own strength. Poor me!! I am so hard done by. Now I can't eat even certain legitimate foods" I know what I am doing when I am being like this. Feeling stupidly sorry for myself.

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
Low self esteem

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
Being more active, the rest is all in my head :)

Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Yes! Exactly what I'm going to do this time.

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
The way I talk to myself, self esteem, not feeling worthy as a person etc etc etc

What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
Hmmmm not sure about this one.

Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
I would keep that up my sleeve for another tool to implement when the going gets tough and I need to refocus.

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
Yes, clean lean mean Cohens style

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
Rarely, if I'm out its byo.

What are your three favorite foods?
Too hard to narrow down honestly. Depends on my mood - funny that!!

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Try new recipes, try new methods of cooking, remind myself that food is not a reward, it's fuel and I want my body fuelled in the most efficient way.

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I would feel a lot better about myself. It would possibly help me to make a decision regarding a highly emotionally charged situation (I am currently punching beneath my weight - long story) I would do things that I really want to that I am putting off.

Do you eat when you are not hungry?
I have been known to.

Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
On occasion.

Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
On very rare occasions.

Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Do you eat as a reward? Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Yes yes and yes!!

What do you normally eat for a meal?
Meat (red, chicken, seafood) veggies or salad. On bad days pretty much anything goes.

What type of snacks do you eat?
Tend to prefer sweeter things but love cheese and wine etc.

In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
Walking - up to 2 hours a day as often as I can.

Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
Outside currently.

What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
Cross circuit, weights, walking/running, swimming. Okay more than 3 and I am only doing 1 at the moment. I want to do the others when I am a bit lighter. I have done them at obese weights and I know its not the best way for me to go.

What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
How hard is this one? I'm very visual. I love quotes and I love pics. They keep me focused on why and where I could be and why not to give up.

Do you have rewards for certain goals?
No, I have always found this a hard one. I need to work on it.

Okay thats that done. It shares a bit about me, and gives me something to refer back to. I know posting here regularly is going to be an important part of this process. I will vent, rant, analyse, celebrate etc etc. I need this as an outlet, as a forum for support and feedback, and as tangible evidence of how far I have come not just physically, I have a mirror for that. But emotionally and mentally - yep those 2 tough ones ;-)

If anyone took the time to read all that well thank you very much. I look forward to visiting diaries and getting know some awesome people. I want to inspire and be inspired. Here's to the 12 awesome life changing months ahead. :cheers2:

Hello

Hello there everybody. Brand new here. I'm a 55 year old guy living in Arizona. I played sports through college, yet find myself here many years later at 290 lbs and waaaay out of shape. I'm single and accountable only to myself. Needless to say, that hasn't been a good situation. I have no idea what this forum offers, but figured it can't hurt to explore. I need motivation, and am not finding it within myself.....for whatever reason. Don't know if anyone can help me along or what, but regardless, just wanted to introduce myself and see where this takes me. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and look forward to meeting some of you. Don't know if we use 'real names' here or not, but in addition to 'papwriter', I am better known as Mark. Thanks again.

Snoopy's Diary

09/29/15

This is the first entry for Snoopy's Diary. I am 26 years old, 5'2 and have weighed between 120 and 165 (current weight). I have started working out and getting my life back together about two months ago. I have been seriously working out (5-6 times a week) for the past month. I've cut my calories from around 5k to 1700. I have not lost much weight but I have been doing both cardio and weight lifting so I am thinking that I am gaining muscle (which would make the scale read the same). I am hoping that I start losing weight and it reads on the scale because it's so frustrating to work day after day and have no readable progress. I know everyone will probably say that it's my calories but I seriously have cut out around 3 thousand. I am kind of afraid that I have put my body into a tailspin because of the sudden decrease of calories and taking up exercise (which I have never done before) and that it thinks I'm starving. However, I am taking in what my daily suggested amount for almost everything is, so I am hoping my body just gets used to this new way of being...
My real issue right now is sodium.. there is sodium in everything and even "healthy" stuff has a crapton of sodium so I have to keep working on that.
Also I need to work on not reaching for food when I am bored. That is my second biggest issue--- especially when I am at work and not doing a whole lot, I will get bored and want to eat. I need to find either ways to distract myself when that happens or some way to deal with it (because just trying not to think about it doesn't help).
And then lastly, finding more healthy recipes that don't involve a ton of calories, carbs or sodium.
So I have a long way to go.

Intro for Snoopy

Hello all, I just joined so this is my introduction. I am 26, from the midwest and am getting married in a year. I've struggled with weight my entire life and have always looked "chunky" or very squat-- because I am only 5'2.. my weight has varied from 110 to 165 (now). My main issues are that when I get bored, I will eat. Also for the last two years, my diet has literally consisted of soda, junk food and chips.. I mean, every once in a while we would think to ourselves that we (my fiance and I) should eat healthy but that would only last a few months.. then back to soda (mountain dew, pepsi) and junk food for every single meal. So I have always had a huge beer belly, three chins, and thunder thighs. Two months ago I got serious about it-- decided to join a gym, eat healthy and get this weight off.
Unfortunately, I've only lost like 5 pounds (but it may be because I've built muscle) so I am hoping it starts to come off more, pretty soon. I have severely reduced my calories (from around 5,000 (or so) per day to only about 1700... but it still isn't coming off.
I've joined in the hopes of getting some pointers of what to do when I feel bored and want to reach for food, and then experiences with others who haven't really lost a lot of weight when they first start changing their life.
Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself and I am happy to be here!

Could I please have some advice? :(

Hey! So I came here because I really need some people to talk to about my weight loss. I was wondering if anyone could put my mind at ease. I'll give you some background story...
So I'm 19 years old and I weigh 196 pounds although I'm only 5ft5 :O since I still live at home I have no control over the food we buy. Also its worth mentioning the people I live with are both very overweight and have terrible eating habits. (Btw I'm working on finding a job). So previously I was getting no exercise at all and eating 80%fatty sugary foods. I also ate most meals until I was uncomfortably full. But about a week ago I found out that I wouldn't be able to see my long distance boyfriend in about 7 weeks, so I decided to take the oppurtunuity and try to make a difference.
So for the past 4 days I have been eating around 1500 calories per day and doing 1 hour of exercise per day(taking fast walks and doing pilates). I've also been avoiding sugary and fatty foods.
My question is, will I lose weight if I continue doing this? And is there anyone out there in a similar situation? I've always given up on weight loss plans because I've convinced myself that it isn't working. Id really like to stick with it this time :(

Hello Everyone!!

I just joined the forum and hope to enjoy the interaction of like minded people and together we shall wedge war against obesity and its complications.

The Motivational Generator!

G'day peeps. It's time for me to get this show on the road. I'm done with this merry go ride of loosing weight and then getting fat! Time is passing pretty quick and sees me struggling harder with each comeback. The comebacks are also fewer and further in between. ll soon be 47 this coming February and 50 not long after that! I'm done with comebacks FULL STOP!

Allow me to show you the typical cycle of what I mean:

This is me at 41: I think no problem, I'll just do what I have done each time before - "exercise"

6 to 12 months later - Bingo: (I removed the cheesy quotes) Yes that's the same person as above. (Me) It's hard to believe when I look at the comparison
.

Sadly - I now come to my point - Maintenance is not my strong point. :( - About 12 to 18 months later:

Someone is not a happy chappy! I look at that last photo and now understand just how let down I felt. Struggling to keep an even keel has seen me go up and down all my life. I had been relying too much on exercise and now age was catching up. I had abused my body so much early on thinking I could just run some laps and burn it all off in the Gym. As a result, the rich diet I had been binge eating over the years had finally caught up. I was hospitalized and had my Gall Bladder removed. I was told it was a common procedure, a modern day illness that reflects a modern day diet. Unfortunately I was not educated on the importance of the digestive system. Just to eat healthy otherwise expect a bad case of diarrhea. I suffered years of constipation ... but that story I bring up later as is all relevant to what has now formed my new approach.

But here's some irony for this tale. Before I lost my gall bladder from binge eating sugar, salts, fats and all that other yummy stuff, I was hospitalized a few years earlier for binge exercising. A condition that lead to near renal failure - known as Exertional rhabdomyolysis. I won't go any further into that, except to say that when I weigh up the two extremes; something is going to have to give.

I did work out that puzzle, as the near renal failure with exercise happened a few years before my 42 yold buff selfie above. I researched on toxic build up regarding my kidney and used food and water a lot more carefully with recovery periods to continue exercising. Loosing the gall bladder is what really pegged me back with regards to how my body there after changed.

I had issues with gas, esophagitis, constipation, (eventually hemorrhoids) sleep apnea, bladder issues, joint pain and a host of other obesity issues. Like many others, I went onto mood altering drugs to help with anxiety and depression ... New conditions mounted up such as , Light sensitivity, Hives, night sweats, all the way into suicidal tendencies. I've tried many medications over the years - even antipsychotics which really messed me up.

Perhaps more info than anyone would care to read, but here's the thing → I am nearing 50, have missing body parts, a liver and kidney that's seen better days and a self esteem on par with my innards. This time round is going to take more than a few laps around the block and some weights in the Gym! Hell ... just getting back on my feet has taken a few years. I'm in a good spot right now - developing a good routine ... hence the title to this blog.

The Motivational Generator Diary is to help shed the fist 50lb pounds or so ... establish some goals and make some plans. This time I'll stick around for the maintenance phase instead of being so quick to split.

Now it's time to get some SLEEP. Early start ... Looking forward to it actually. Clothes are folded and waiting. Bid Day Tomorrow. Cardio and shopping day. Looking forward to sharing all my info on food, fasting, sun bathing, resting, sleeping, meditating and many likewise things. I am no where near buff in these early stages, but already I feel free enough to bare my chest as I walk the beach. There is something about this comeback that makes it feel as though it's for life, rather than just another post in yet another thread.

____________________________________________

Don't be a stranger ... pull up a chair. Glad to meet new people with likewise goals.
Take Care.

Adios ... until next post.

10kgs in 2 months. Good target?

Hi all. New guy here so if I make any faux pax's, please forgive me.

I'm 31, male, just under 6'0" and weigh in at around 105kg (231lbs). I'm fairly active in that I do rugby training once a week and train bjj twice a week (also go for 2-3 mile runs once/twice a week). My weight is predominantly around my belly and I'm desperate to shift this. I've tried shake diets but they just don't seem to work. I also work a desk job in a hotel.

So I'm going to try the following, I've not really got a good understanding on food and nutrition, but I'm working on the principle of lesser calories + lesser carbs = less weight.

Breakfast (around 10am) - piece of fruit with yoghurt.
Snack around 12 - banana or some mixed nuts (just a small handful)
Lunch (around 2pm) - A cheese, salad roll
Snack (around 4pm) - banana or some mixed nuts (just a small handful)
Dinner (around 7.30pm) - meat and veg (generalising and definitely no carbs as I hear thats not good in the evening)

This sounds like something I could realistically keep going. Am I ticking the right boxes? Should I swap anything out or change things up?

Any tips or guidance would be gratefully received.

Help?

I am looking to lose around 3 stone in the next year (more after that as well). I work in an office for 8hours a day, 5 days a week, with various shifts (8-4 10-6 12-8) so find it hard to get in an exercise routine and an eating routine too.

I have lost weight before, I lost almost 2 stone last year before i went on holiday to Orlando, that's when it went downhill!! I'm struggling to find motivation this time around so I am hoping this will help. I hate running, find it boring so I am trying to do different sorts of exercise, such as boxing, lifting weights etc. Can anyone tell me if this is as effective for losing weight?

I am also a very fussy eater and it annoys me so much! I do like chicken, most vegs so I'm looking to just eat that for dinner and tea but as I said with my various shifts I will not have a consistent eating pattern, does this matter? I'm hoping to post here regularly with updates, as my weight is getting beyond a joke now!

Hope I succeed a diet plan for once instead of bouncing back to higher weights ...

No time for intro, time to start.

Current weight: 60kg (BMI 27)
Goal weight: 50kg (I'm really short, so 50kg will bring me back into normal BMI of 22)

Overall plan:
- Lose 0.5kg every 2 weeks
- Drink lots 8 cups of water/day and keep hydrated
- Eat less deep fried foods, not to binge eat too much
- Smaller portions
- Less unhealthy snacks (e.g. Pringles, oh gawd I love pringles!), and more healthy snacks
- My main issue is food, I eat when people offer me food, when I walk pass food and I will eat HUGE portion sizes at work cos we get free meals at the cafe. I actually walk around a lot at work, so exercise isn't a huge problem.

Day 1 (Sundays are always hard):
My food story:
I woke up super late at lunch time, so no breakfast today...
Then I was in a rush to get out of the house cos I was running late to hang out with some friends, so I grabbed half a piece of toast and ran out of the door.

Came home in mid afternoon and was feeling SO HUNGRY. But remembered today day 1 of my weight loss plan! I can't fail at day 1 (like I usually do)! So I stared at a bag of chips for a long time, and decided not to snack on them:hurray:... instead I had one of those weightwatcher replacement meal things (with extra milk!) as I wait for dinner time to have a proper meal.
(I have to say, I've never had these before, but they are a lot yummy-er than I thought! cookies and cream flavour is just delicious, I'd totally go for a few more scoops...)

Then it turned out today my boyfriend's family invited me to go out for dinner... So I snacked on a bowl of almonds and walnuts as I currently eagerly wait for the delicious foods at dinner. I'll try my best not to eat too much deep fried foods. >_<

My exercise story:
I bummed on my laptop for most of the day... Now that I'm writing this diary, I'm feeling kind of guilty, perhaps I should go do a few burpees.:blush5:

Charlotte's journey to lose 50lb starts... again!

Hi all, no idea where to start here, but i've decided to join this to try and keep myself motivated and hold myself accountable, i'm going to try and log each day and then also post whenever i find myself feeling weak. For the past 4 years I've had major problems with food, binge-eating and the like (nothing serious). Like a lot of people, I've fiddled about with faddy diets and juices to lose pounds for events and stuff, but it never lasts long. Last summer I actually worked hard and got myself down to 5lb away from my goal weight, and instead of recognising that success, I binged my way back up to where I am now - 190lb and hiding away and hating myself.

So starting right this minute I am going to try and get this sorted out. I know it will take a long time, and so I know I need to start now because I constantly feel lethargic, bloated and exhausted (not to mention very insecure). I am only 19 and I want to have fun and just relax - throw on whatever I like. So, simultaneously to trying to become a healthy weight, I am going to try and focus on having a healthy mindset. This will be difficult for me because I have a very "all or nothing" approach to food - I work in massive quantities and I know exactly what I'm doing and how bad it is, I just find myself so weak-willed I can't stop! So I need to get that under control, so if anyone has any tips if you experience similar - that would be great! I definitely use food as my anchor - if i'm happy then I use food to celebrate, if i'm sad to commiserate, if i'm watching tv then it's something to do. I want to try and dissociate food from where I am in my life.

Anyways, that's my first post, sorry for rambling. My goal weight is 140lb and I hope to be there by May 2016 at the latest...

Tomorrow morning I plan to go to the gym before work. I also plan to follow Slimfast/shakes with a healthy dinner because I like the taste of those - and i work almost full time and i'm in my last year of uni studying law right now so I really don't have time to do much else.

Here I go! :smash:

Just signed up

For the last year or two, I have really been struggling with my weight. I work in medicine, and I know what a healthy lifestyle entails, I just have an awful time following the advice I give to patients regularly. Two years ago, I met the woman I am going to be marrying (in just over a years time), and I was in MUCH better shape than I am now. Since we started dating, and I went back to school, I have been struggling to eat healthy and find time to work out. I have gained nearly 70lbs over the last two years. 70lbs that I would LOVE to get rid of before the wedding. So, I suppose that I am reaching out to a community in hopes of some motivation to get back on track and get myself back to the healthier version of myself. Thanks in advance!

Ever faced overeating due to peer pressure?

Hello everyone,

I was thinking if anyone could share their experiences, when they were in a situation, where though they did not want eat the kind of food that would affect their weight loss regime, but were forced into eating that stuff because of peer pressure? Just sharing it so that some people can relate.

Hello from Texas

I am excited to join this forum so that I may provide assistance about weight loss. I am a Certified Nutrition & Welness coach. In addition, I am studying for a Certified Personal Trainer Credential. I recently launched my website that is aimed at helping people lose two pounds each week. Although I don't have a domain name just yet, I have already published my first blog post explaining the difference between losing weight and burning fat. My next topic is going to discuss the role hormones can play in weight loss. In addition, I am going to feature subjects on my blog that will cover an array of subjects. Some of them are: Hormones and Weight Loss, Nutrition and Fitness Plans, Weight Loss Supplements that do and don't work, The obstacles to weight loss and how to overcome them, plus many more.

My passion for providing guidance for weight loss is based on my intention of fighting obesity and cardiovascular disease. Both of these diseases have hit close to home and I am eager and determined to help anyone avoid both illnesses. So, it's a pleasure to meet everyone. I am here to serve you.

The Venus Factor

DRAMATICALLY
INCREASING
YOUR FEMALE
METABOLISM.

You’ll also see how this unusual tip allows you to strategically eat the foods you crave most, and still experience the slimmest, sexiest waistline of your life. Plus, you’ll also learn which common foods touted as “healthy” can make losing a single pound virtually impossible for women.

Now I totally get it if you think you’ve heard and tried it all when it comes to dieting and weight loss but I completely guarantee you’ve NEVER seen anything like this before and I promise you’re about to be absolutely amazed.

Listen, before we go any further let me assure you this has nothing to do with silly exercise machines, cardio, restrictive or pre-packaged diets, or whatever weird berry pill the diet industry is talking about these days. This is something completely different and you’re going to love it
I was doing extensive research on female metabolism when I stumbled upon something so shocking, and so ground-breaking that I knew it could help make fat burning easier for women forever
Now our family comes from a long line of “bad genetics” and I know exactly what it feels like to hate the overweight reflection looking back in the bathroom mirror. And I would have given anything to have what worked for me work for Lisa. But it didn’t. And after Lisa had my niece Paige, things got even worse for her. She was tipping the scales at 210 pounds, which at 5 foot 1, was dangerously unhealthy... and emotionally she was totally depressed because she thought she had tried everything.

I remember it was a Monday afternoon, almost 2 years after Lisa had Paige, when I stumbled upon research leading to female fat loss loopholes unlike anything I’d ever imagined. Loopholes that would ultimately allow Lisa to shed a breathtaking 53 pounds of undesirable body fat!

However, as impressive as that was, what stands out the most to her family and friends is that her physical transformation led to a personal transformation that finally enabled her to live as the confident, proud, beautiful woman we always saw her to beClick image for larger version.  Name: wrap.png  Views: 0  Size: 21.8 KB  ID: 23161http://ift.tt/1NRyGgB

Fat Diminisher Is A Conversion Monster! You Will Make Money! Booyah! (view mobile)

Hi, I'm Wes and I have an unusual story to share with you about how I was scared to death.

Looking down the barrel of a M16 rifle, heart pounding, moments from pulling the trigger, two seconds from almost being killed, to be suddenly slapped over the head with a bizarre binder that saved the life of Patricia Wron, a 45-year-old, out-of-shape woman, who had a sudden heart attack caused by symptoms she didn't even know she had, to mysteriously lose over 38 lbs in a few short weeks, without a sign of any health problems, to save her own life.

Yep, you heard me correctly, 38 lbs. in a few short weeks, going from this to this, without any surgery, pills, or butt busting workouts whatsoever...

And you'll be shocked, maybe even disturbed, when you discover the unconventional method used to melt away all her unwanted body fat and miraculously boost her energy and enhance her youthful cells in her body, in such a short period of time.

Patricia was frustrated with her weight for years following the usual advice of fitness experts such as cranking up the cardio and dieting more.

But the breakthrough came from an unlikely source, from one of the top universities in Massachusetts that would change her life forever
In the next three minutes you will discover the lies and unethical schemes the $40 billion health industry is subliminally feeding you that not only hinders your weight loss efforts, but even worse, you could have the early signs of heart disease or cancer RIGHT NOW and not even know it, without using this method.

Lies such as...

Why salty foods, such as chips and french fries are NOT the culprit for weight gain.
Also how certain vegetables, that most people think are healthy, create serious thyroid problems that add fat to your stomach area even if you are busting your butt in the gym everyday.
OR the scientifically proven truth on how fat-free, sugar- free, gluten-free, and low-carb diets will all accelerate your weight because of two body fattening amino acids that are lurking in most of our foods you think are healthy

Juicing For Fat Loss (view mobile)

It was pretty intense, because we really didn't know what to expect. I mean, we had been using this program on ourselves and had shared it with close friends for a few years now.

But now our own "little weight loss miracle" was going to be put to the ultimate test...
On a warm March evening in Austin, we held a private meeting on the rooftop deck of WHOLE FOODS headquarters on North Lamar Boulevard...
340 people sat in fold-up chairs on the roof, gathered around to voice their collective results, as each of the attendees had just completed our 10-day weight-loss program.

But fast weight-loss wasn’t the only thing these folks were celebrating...

Some had visibly lost stubborn fat from their bellies, thighs and butt...
Others had a surge of energy like they were ten years younger...
Another group said they had more focus and clarity now
And here's the first:

You don’t gain weight -- simply because you eat junk food, sit around and don’t exercise, or because you eat too many calories!

We're pretty sure that's something you don't hear everyday.

Sure – those things certainly don’t help.

And it’s ALWAYS a good idea to eat well and exercise.

But, very few people know why doing those things even contributes to making us fat
Even if you have stubborn fat you can’t seem to get rid of!
Even if you’ve tried hundreds of diets before and none of them helped!
Even if you have cravings for junk food you can’t control
This “proven weight-loss program” is the real thing, and can help you lose weight quickly, safely and in the healthiest way possiblehttp://ift.tt/1Wma4jb

Random Problems From Weight Loss

Hi Everyone,

I hope we are all staying motivated on the journey of weight loss. Just curious if anyone has dealt with loose skin/spider veins after losing weight? How did you deal with it? Also, what other issues are you finding?

diet pills vs supplements

Hello, my name is Amanda and I desperately trying to lose weight. I have tried dieting and exercise but nothing seems to work. I am worried if I don't lose weight soon I may start having health issues. I've debated if I should start using diet pills or try some supplements. I am not sure which way to go though. I've heard Phentermine is a good diet pill and gets results. I also recently came across a website called My TruVision. It sells a lot of supplements that seem really healthy. The person on the site shows she had really good results with their product. I was just wondering if anyone has used any of these products or any ideas on what else I can do to lose weight.

Off-tober Challenge!!!

So I had to make this challenge thread because I just love saying Off-tober as often as possible lol.

Most of you know what to do! Set your goals, and check in with your results, get a little competitive spirit going!

You can start at anytime and check as often as you like. I like to check in once a week, keeps me motivated, especially as I get closer to weigh days lol.

Plus we all wanna look good in those Halloween costumes right?! I'm gonna wait till the end of September to set my goals.

Good luck everyone!!! Let's do this together

How to lose weight

Let me save you some time: skip the fad diets. Their results don't last. And you have healthier options you can start on -- today!
You can safely lose 3 or more pounds a week at home with a healthy diet and lots of exercise, says weight loss counselor Katherine Talleyrand, RD.

Diets for Fast Weight Loss
Dansinger recommends eating a diet that minimizes starches, added sugars, and animal fat from meat and dairy foods. For rapid weight loss, he recommends focusing on fruits, veggies, egg whites, soy products, skinless poultry breasts, fish, shellfish, nonfat dairy foods, and 95% lean meat.
Here are more tips from Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, author of The Flexitarian Diet :
Eat vegetables to help you feel full.
Drink plenty of water.
Get tempting foods out of your home.
Stay busy -- you don't want to eat just because you're bored.
Eat only from a plate, while seated at a table. No grazing in front of the 'fridge.
Don't skip meals.
Keeping a food journal -- writing down everything you eat -- can also help you stay on track.
"Even if you write it down on a napkin and end up throwing it away, the act of writing it down is about being accountable to yourself and is a very effective tool for weight loss," says Bonnie Taub Dix, MA, RD, author of Read It Before You Eat It . http://ift.tt/1KRbXAw

How I lost 40 Pounds went from 210 pounds to 171.5 pounds at 46 years old!

How I lost 40 Pound and keep it off!

1. I know some might not want to hear it, but I put God first in my life as much as I can. I asked and still ask God to help me with my health and other parts of my life. Help me not eat when I am not Hungry. My health and weight loss program starts here.
2. I gained knowledge about the diet and fitness world. Knowledge is power. I realized the truth about my own body. I know the exact point of where I don't lose or gain any weight (my HSK Prime #). To lose I have to be under that number and for me it has to be that simple. I manage my weight by looking at my average weight, average caloric intake. I know some people like to manage their weight through eating certain food .i.e. I don't eat carbs and so on, but mine had to simpler than that and not eating carbs was not going to work for me. To have my program come down to this empirical truth that My HSK Prime =how the foods, exercise and lifestyle I live impacted my weight. For me it doesn't get any simpler than that. Stay below my hsk prime # to lose weight.
3. Take personal responsibility. I have to develop my own way of eating and exercising that fits my lifestyle. I have to design it and no one else. I can listen to others people ideas and thoughts on diets and exercise, but for my weight loss to work it has to be MY PROGRAM not anyone else s.

Hope that helps.

Holding myself accountable.

I'm new here, but I thought I'd make a diary topic for myself to put my intake out there so I have a reason to not overeat, since I'll have to write it on here. My name is Jessica and I'm currently 165 lbs. I've lost 15 lbs in the last few months but I seem to be stuck in the 160s ugh.

So far, I've only eaten breakfast. I don't normally eat it, but was craving bacon and toast. So this morning I had: 4 pieces of turkey bacon and a slice of bread with 1 tsp of honey on it. I also had a cup of coffee with a tbsp of creamer. That comes out to 270 calories. Not too shabby.

New way to count how many calorie people can eat and lose weight.

I know you are looking to help people and http://ift.tt/XJT51l is a new algorithm to calculate how many calories people can eat and lose weight. Unlike the current calculators on the market Health Sidekick automatically adjusts for users daily to give them an accurate weight loss number. If a user is using a tracker it can be the difference between people losing weight and not losing weight. Health Sidekick becomes more accurate the longer they log. It is more accurate than any other calculator currently being used in the industry. The algorithm starts with the current calculations being used(Mifflin and Harris Benedict) going off of height, weight, gender and age, but then it switches to our proprietary algorithm and starts to analyze the food, exercise and lifestyle the user lives to give them an accurate weight loss number specific to them. Bottom line is it is better than what is currently being used.
I started gaining weight and started dieting when I was about 20 years old. I got up to about 210 pounds (40 pounds overweight at age 37) and tried to diet. At about 40 I started using calculators like myfitnesspal and even though I was doing everything right I was not getting any results. I went on the help forums and received advice about how I wasn't doing it right. The advice I got was:
1. You’re eating more calories than you think.
2. You’re not weighing and measuring everything.
3. You over estimating your exercise calories.
The problem is I was doing all of these correctly. I started to dig into how they were calculating my allowable calories and as a dug in farther I realized they were wrong. How much they were telling me I could eat was off and still is off about 400 calories a day. The thing that boggles my mind is people still consider these sites and apps as the GOLD standard. I went as far as reading the Harris Benedict paper (where all of the calculators derived from) which states not to use the equations for an individual and it should only be used for estimates in a group. Bottom line is after 5 years(I am now 45 and 172 pounds) we have developed an algorithm that is more accurate than what is currently being used (The Mifflin and the Harris Benedict) by fitbit, myfitnesspall and the whole diet/weight loss industry. I can easily prove that Health Sidekick’s algorithm is more accurate. You can see the proof here or have any of your people use the site or app http://ift.tt/XJT51l . It's free! https://youtu.be/p4PDzDMi7YI
Also, Health Sidekick is free personal training software. It allows you to design plans for clients and track what they are doing in real time.

Weight Loss Advice as it Relates to Exercise

I'm 31, currently 190 pounds and I'm 5'8 male. I started biking, running, and swimming 4-5 days a week and started eating less calories and try to stick to low fat foods. Over the period of about 2 months I've lost 15 pounds and the method was working great. Now I've been doing the same and haven't lost a single pound in 2 weeks. I realize weight goes up and down and all but now I'm worried I've been eating too few of calories and my metabolism is slowing.

I try to eat around 1700-1800 calories a day (using myfitnesspal) and I'm biking, swimming, or running about 30-40 mins 4-5 days per week. Also, I have a desk job. Is it possible I'm eating too few of calories, or do I need to give it another couple weeks. I'm at a crossroad and don't want to go down the wrong path because when I look at calorie calculators it says I should be around 2000 calories....but when I used myfitnesspal and said i wanted to lose 2 pounds per week it told me 1,750 calories. Any advice?

Enough is enough, it starts now

So I have finally decided that enough is enough. For the last few years I have been gradually gaining weight and have seen my appearance change for the worse. Knowing that I have put on weight has made me miserable and I would end up eating even more to comfort myself, It’s a stupid repetitive cycle which has seen me get to the all time heaviest and most miserable version of myself.

I woke up today and said enough is enough, I need to make a big change in my life, I need to defeat this. I have tried so many times before, but failed every one of them. So for me to succeed this time it has to be different, I need a better plan, more motivation and more pressure.

It is with much planning that I have now decided to vlog my weight loss on YouTube and also create a lifestyle brand around it on Instagram.
Enough is enough, I want to be healthy and I want to be happy once again and I shall be. This is the start of a long and hard journey, but it will be worth it.

So it begins…

10 pounds loss Diary

Hi, everyone! I think it's great idea to start my own diary for these 10 pounds weight loss. I think that losing 10 pounds would make me more energetic and active to different activities like programs in the gym, dance, tennis, and would give me more confidence in wearing modern cloths. I have tried this before and i actually have managed it but now that i start over again as i gained these pounds back i find it harder. Anyway i would like not to be alone to this journey so i decided to start a diary for my progress. Now the short goal is to loss 2 pounds during this week. The weekend i just left myself more relaxed so i didn't have any progress. Today i start over again the program for this week. After weekend i find difficult to adjust myself to count calories of food and calories wasting in activities like dancing and walking but i want to achieve my goal so some things are necessary. I would like not to think about this as an awful job but more as a funny challenge!

PCOS and Weight Loss

Any other women have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome)? For those of you that don't know, PCOS causes insulin resistance which can make it harder to lose weight. I'm still relatively new to PCOS and trying to find a treatment that works for me.

You can lose 23 pounds (few weeks)

THE 3 WEEK DIET is a revolutionary new diet system that not only guarantees to help you lose weight — it promises to help you lose more weight — all body fat — faster than anything else you’ve ever tried.

It clearly works and if I’d followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I’d lose . So thanks again for the information. I’ve never purchased anything like this as they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise. Plus my girlfriend can't get enough of my new body!
James R.

Dear Brian,
I’ve lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It is truly like magic.
Thank you so much.

HIIT results?

I plan on doing an HIIT workout every other day, and just regular cardio / body weight training (using my own body, not weights) on days that I don't do HIIT all along with a nutritious diet. I would like to know if anyone here has any experience with HIIT and how long it took them to lose weight, how much they lost, and if any of it was noticeable to others. I read this one story online about this middle-aged woman losing 5 pounds in 2 weeks, and I'm 18 years old so I don't think I would have too much problem with weight loss... research online has taught me to think so at least. Also, I am ~180 pounds so I am overweight but I plan to change that and get fit fast.

My Tricks to Staying Motivated and Losing Weight

Aside from writing everything down, my number one trick is PERSISTENCE. It helps if you're extremely stubborn and competitive like I am. But honestly, the trick is to KEEP GOING NO MATTER WHAT. No matter how discouraged you get, no matter how many plateaus you go through, no matter how much weight you gain back.

My second trick is PATIENCE. We are a society that wants instant results and gratification. Not only is it unhealthy to lose weight quickly, but it also is the least effective way to keep it off. Losing weight slowly means you literally change your way of life. The true meaning of the word "diet" does not mean "a temporary healthy way to eat to lose weight and then drop when you get to your goal weight." All it means is "way of eating," and that's what you have to develop. But in order to do that effectively, like all habits, they take a while to form.

I know this is easier said than done. So if any of you need encouragement, let me know. I've lost over 60 pounds and I'm still losing, but VERY SLOWLY. It took me TWO YEARS to get to where I am. I'm not going to lie to you. I have often felt like giving up and saying "fuck it." So how do you get through that? Allow yourself to feel the emotion. Don't shove it down because it will manifest in ways that are unhealthy like binge eating. Acknowledge it, say, "Yes this sucks, AND I'm not giving up."

40 teaspoons of sugar daily. Help for your weight loss journey.

40 teaspoon fulls of sugar daily for 2 months was the challenge that Damon Gameau undertook in That Sugar Film.

While initially that may seem like a lot, statistics (1, 2, 3, 4) show that on average we eat much more than that!

I wanted to bring the film to you attention as it has made me rethink the many "healthy" foods we have in the supermarket, e.g. low fat, heart healthy, natural yogurt is basically no different to a Mars bar.

The film has some fun cinematography, some shocking scenes of terrible teeth (not for the faint hearted) and a playfully educational style that took fairly difficult concepts of fatty liver liver disease, different sugar metabolism pathways and even a little history of sugar and presented them in a very accessible and easy to understand manner.

You will see the effects of high sugar consumption on the physical and psychological side.

You will also be able to see the effects of sugar withdraw and perhaps relate to Damon's feelings. If you're in the same situation, you're not alone.

I hope you can use this film as motivation and a reminder on your fat loss journey!

If you've seen it, what did you think of it? Do you think it might be helpful for weight loss motivation?

The 3 Week Diet

You don’t know me but my name is Catheline and I bought The 3 Week Diet one month ago. I want to share my weight loss story with you.

Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing was wrong and a waste of my time.

The 3 Week Diet plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything it said and lost 23 pounds in first three weeks. I’m now starting the diet again from the start to lose the 7 pounds more. It has changed my life, and I am incredibly thankful.

Im 34 years old married with a 6 year old boy.im 1,70 cm tall nearly 5''7 My starting weight on September 15th was 99,8 kg or 220 pounds.....
i decided to get some professional help from a pathologist/nutritionist.I visited her on the 15th and i am on day 4 of eating normal.i want tor each 75 kg or 165 lbs
i wont write the last three days what i;ve eaten,i'll start from today.i really do see the food as so little, but after i eat it i feel fine.the doctor told me the reason i put my weight back on so fast was because i didnt maintain for at least 6 months after the loss.she explained that she will be seeing me once a month for about 5 months till i drop my weight and then once every2 months for a 6 month period for maintaining.
i feel really irritated and anxious at the moment about this.

Leptin Resistance - A common problem for weight loss for women

Hi Guys,

I am a fitness coach & passionate husband, I am blessed to share my life with a women who has truly devoted her life to me and our two wonderful children.

My wife really is fantastic and is one of the most inspirational people in my life, but for years she had self confidence issues that no matter how many compliments or encouragement I gave her, didn't seem to matter. She was unhappy with her body after piling on the pounds following the birth of our two beautiful children. It wasn't for the want of trying, because I watched her try just about every diet out there, I even exercised with her daily to support her, but those pounds just wouldn't shift, she'd lose some weight and then it would just pile back on.

I was frustrated as much as she was because I was in great shape, knew a lot about nutrition and exercise, but couldn't seem to help her. I started doing a lot of research and eventually came across something life changing.

Have you heard of a hormone in the body called 'Leptin'?

For those that haven't, Leptin is responsible for telling our body how hungry we are, and how full we are, the good news is Leptin levels in women are much higher then men so have far greater potential to burn fat.

However, what new research has discovered is women have a far greater resistance to Leptin than men, and studies showed that when dieting (restricting calories) Leptin levels dropped almost TWICE as much as men, meaning you will hit those weight loss plateau's so much quicker compared to a man.

I'm not telling you this to gloat, because I am a man, but to share information which may just change your life when you understand it. You're probably wondering what you can do to overcome this? Well I searched high and low, looking for solutions to the problem, and to be honest, there wasn't much out there ground breaking.

Until I came across a guy called John Barban - a renowned nutritional scientist who also discovered the secret behind leptin, and with a motivation to help his sister who had also struggled with excess weight after child birth developed and created a legacy training and eating program that boosted Leptin levels, the results I can tell you from real life experience we're quite honestly shocking. Within 3 months my wife had lost so much weight that she was in better shape than when I first met her. Our relationship has never been better, now that she has renewed confidence.

There is now a real live community of women on John's training program who share their experiences and support with each other, which is genuinely quite compelling, so whilst I will say the diet is not a miracle cure, as it does require self motivation and consistency to really benefit from the results, the support of a community behind you, similar to this one is a real valuable resource. I have created a review of his product to help other women who are experiencing the same problems.

Don't Let Your Body ruin your Marriage or Relationship

Hi Guys,

Today I’m sharing a story with you that has changed my life. Just over 8 years ago, I married the love of my life and we have been happily married ever since, we have had 2 children and honestly I couldn’t be happier.

However after having the kids my wife put on a lot of weight, that wasn’t a problem for me because really I love her the way she is, however I noticed she started getting depressed and our sex life was virtually non existent. We spoke about it many times and in fairness she has tried just about every diet under the sun, but getting rid of that unwanted body fat for her became such an obsession that watching her struggle for years was really upsetting.

I wanted to help, be the good husband that she married, I was in great shape myself, I think this made it even worse because she felt like I couldn’t be interested in her looking so good. That definitely was not the case but I think a lot of women can relate to not feeling attractive.

Anyway let me get to the point, after years of supporting and comforting her, I finally stumbled across something that would change our lives forever.

Slim with Venus – Rapid weight loss for women

This is basically a unique approach to fat loss for women, I was sceptical at first and did not want to set my wife up to fail on yet another exhausting diet plan, but after doing some research all I found was positive reviews, so I thought I would introduce her to it and see what she thought. She was really impressed and wanted to give it a go. It wasn’t cheap did set me back nearly $700 but my god was I blown away with the results.

After just 3 weeks of my wife starting this plan she looked like a different women, the love of my life I remember for our younger days was back, and she had those gorgeous hips and waistline that I have to admit had my acting like a naughty school boy. What was really impressive was her obvious change of mood, she seemed SO much more happier and I’m going to be honest, our sex life is completely transformed, this may have just reignited our marriage – I’m not going to say ‘save’ because the other parts of our marriage really were great.

Anyway I heard the program was becoming so successful that John the creator of ‘The Venus Factor’ has for a limited time reduced the price to only $47 to make it open to all women out there.

So please if your reading this and can relate to my story, please go and check it out for yourself, don’t simply take my word for it because John explains to you exactly why this diet will work for women and not for men.

Quick Weight Loss Advice

I been searching to weight loss for a month now and finally I decided to try Venus Factor for Cheryl. A program that meet my needs. The most thing I like it because it is very easy to follow and no equipment needed. That is the program that I am looking for a long time. My friends recommended me to try it and I am looking forward to see the results and I am confident about it.
