Shelly's battle after childbirth

Hey there fellow mothers, i'm Shelly from southern France :)

I wish to share a short story about my struggles after childbirth, it may provide some advice

So let's begin.

My story starts at the age of 31, soon after my son was born (where did my twenties go? :( ). Pregnancy is an uncomfortable business, but all the previous hardships seem to fade from memory when you first look into the eyes of your newborn child, just remember that :) Anyways, after childbirth, i had an extra 38kg (80lbs~) to lose. At first i started excercising head-on, only to burn out quickly for some minimal weight loss, which i regained shortly after. That's when i realized that simply excercising is not going to work, at least not for me, because once i burn out i'll just regain what i lost. I started searching forums such as this one for tips and tricks, and i kept getting the advice that nutrition is much more important than pure excercise, so i cooked up some homemade diet plan filled with vegetables and such. At first i took it very seriously, it was working to some extent, but i became really depressed for not being able to eat anything else than that, and it just wasn't worth the effort. I just gradually gave up and reverted to my normal lifestyle. Apparently my homemade, improvised plan had failed. Oh well.

A day or two later my mom recommended me a lady who was holding a regular meeting in our town back then for people in the same situation as me, and being quite desperate at this point, i went. She wasn't a mom, but was exceptionally good at understanding people. It was extremely uplifting to see that i'm not alone with this problem, and i became a regular member. We talked about all kinds of theories and plans, experimented with them and compared the results. The key in my situation was indeed nutrition, and carefully regulated (more on this below) excercise, so that i don't lose attitude or burn out. Seeing all those food you CAN't eat can be very depressing.

Six of us started a guidance or program called The Venus Factor, and in my case it did wonders, especially by keeping me motivated to go on. It wasn't a torture like many other weight loss plans we tried so i was able to keep up with it to this day.

Here is The Venus Factor official website, feel free to click on it and check it out, it worked for me,

Why did i underline carefully regulated excercise? Excercising mindlessly can be very powerful (IF paired with proper nutrition), but it can't be kept up in the long term. At least i wasn't able to. Motivation is the key here, and call me weak, but it's very hard to find motivation to excercise for hours every single day, especially while you want to spend time with your baby :) As i have figured out during the program above, creating a not too demanding plan, pairing that with an appripiate nutrition chart is MUCH more effective than going at it full force without any help, as you most likely won't be able to keep that up alone.

If you have questions feel free to ask, i'll answer the best i can :) Also check out the video on the website.

take care
