Edge Suspension Factory Settings??

I have a 2001 600 xc sp. When I bought it used last year, the previous owner had the suspension setup for his weight (around 250). I weigh around 185. I'd like to set up the suspension to factory settings for my weight, but I can't find the settings online. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

1995 Yamaha Mountain Max

Hey guys, Im new to this forum and am looking for some advice on my 1995 Yamaha Mountain Max. While riding today I noticed a high pitch clacking sound coming from the rear of the sled.
Turns out, the red track between the medal frame and the actual track had been slipping off and slowly getting chopped off.

As seen in the attached pictures, it is on the inner side of the bottom track. These are not my photos, but the red track that runs along there is coming off/missing
Any ideas as to what could have caused this and how to replace it?

Thanks,
Cole

Whats a good mountain snowmobile for a good price that Ski Doo or Arctic Cat makes?

I'm looking into getting a mountain sled because I'm sick of getting stuck in powder, I want something for on and off the trails but for a good price (under 4,000). Has to be made by Arctic cat or Ski Doo. Any recommendations????

'06 yamaha rs venture

I'm new to this forum but I have read all of yamadads threads so here goes. I have a 2006 Yamaha RS Venture, it has always been a great sled, very dependable. Last year I purchased a 2005 mxz adrenaline so my son and I could each ride alone. So my son and I go riding finally some great snow conditions, trailered the sleds 2 hours, unloaded and rode. About 30 or so miles my son tells me the Yam is feeling sluggish, I get on it and he is right. We ride another 30 miles and it seemed to get worse. Now we are 60 miles from our truck and lucked upon a "convenience" store. AT this time I don't think the sled will make it home so I paid a good man to drive us back to my truck. We got the sleds home and parked them, after 2 weeks sitting (because I work lots of hours) today I finally get a chance to work on it. First I pulled the belt so I could figure out which end is the problem, turns out I cant get any rpms. Ok, carbs, as I have done many times in the past (due to ethanol) I pull the carbs and tear them down, actually very clean but I clean them any way. I reassemble them and put them back on to no avail. Now I'm at a loss. thought for sure it would be the problem. has anyone out there had the same or similar problem and found the fix. In tank fuel filters?, timing chain and gears (timing not advancing)?, fuel pump?. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be great. want to fix this so I can trade it in for a 2013 nitro rtx.

2000 Yamaha Phazer suspension question

Hello All,

I am relatively new to snowmobiles, so this has been a learning process for me.
I am rigging a 2000 Yamaha Phazer for Ice fishing, one of the things I have done is add a custom built 2" hitch receiver to the rearend for a rack/box combo.
one of the things I didn't take into account when building this mod was the rear suspension when loaded.
The added weight ( aprox. 50lbs) plus myself squats the rear more than I anticipated.
I don't think there is any immideate clearance danger, but would like some advice on stiffening up the rear end?
I've already set the shocks to max.

Thank You for the feed back.
I will post some pics of the setup later today.

Thinking of getting a new trailer?

Is anyone thinking of upgrading there trailer?
Maybe going from a 4 place open to an enclosed?
Maybe had the miss fortune of ruining there 4 place open and don't trust repairing it?
How about anyone with an old allum 4 place with a bad deck or bad axels?

2014 Arctic Cat SnoPro 500 $5500

Up for sale is my excellent condition 2014 Arctic Cat SnoPro 500 snowmobile. I purchased this sled new in 2014. It has 2200 miles and 98 hours, garaged and ridden in TugHill, NY on groomed trails. It has a Sno-Stuff can installed, I also have the stock muffler and a spare belt to go along with it. A 12" Auxbeam Lightbar with handlebar mounted switch has been added on also, when on it can light up an entire trail. New 6" carbides on the skis and storage bag. Grips are heated and there is a plug for a heated helmet shield. Inspected and maintained by a local Arctic Cat dealer at the end of every season. This is a very fun, light and quick sled! Asking 6000 or best offer. Call or text Tyler at 8454757725. Thank you!

Hi, everyone:

I'm offering my SS440 for sale.

Bad news first- it's partially dismantled for overhaul. The inner PTO bearing turns a little rough and will probably need replaced.

The good news- it comes with all you need to assemble it, and a box of chassis spares, plus a spare cylinder and piston.

I'm asking $300./BO or trades. It's posted at craigslist:

2013 PRO RMK overheating

I have a 2013 PRO RMK 800 that is overheating. I went through the bleed procedure in the manual and no changes. Any ideas on what to check next? BTW, what is the normal temperature this should operate at and at what temperature would you expect damage. The sled does have the feature where it limits throttle if the temperature is too hot, but not sure when that kicks in.

The tunnel is warm, so it appears that coolant is circulating.

Trail Breaking Sleds

I buried the Puma twice this weekend. I realize a 550lb, 35 hp, 136", .75" lug track isn't ideal for trail breaking. Thankfully, the last time I burred it, we were close to a road and a guy stopped to help us out. Granted, conditions were a bit abnormal for the riding we usually do; more often than not, the trails have usually been ridden before we arrive.

So it got me thinking...what's a decent trail breaking sled..say $1,500. When did they start putting 1"+ lugs on tracks from the factory?

Polaris XC? Cat ZR/ZL? MXZ?

Don't plan on upgrading any time soon...but if the right deal did present itself, who knows....

Popping Puma

This has come up the last two times I rode the Puma. It's been a bit finicky to start cold. Takes a bunch of pulls, will back fire, then takes some time at the throttle to keep it running. Once it's been ridden for a bit, it'll idle and restart no issue. After sitting for an hour or so, a bit hard to start and needs some throttle to stay running. Adjusting the idle on the carb has helped, but that's more of a bandaid.

When I let off the gas while riding at lower speeds, I get a popping noise. Almost like it's engine braking.

I rebuilt the carb last week...full teardown and clean. Pilot jet was clean...but I soaked it and cleaned it with wire anyways. Air screw was out 3/4 of a turn; backed it out to 1 turn per the service manual. No change in the above.

My first sled...

Hi all -

Thanks to many of you on here who've helped me with the search for my first sled for my ice-fishing adventures. Yesterday I brought it home - so far I'm very pleased.

Introducing my 2007 Ski-doo Skandic Tundra V-800. 4-stroke engine. 18,900 miles.

Along with the excitement, there is a bit of trepidation as this my very first snow mobile and I realize the learning curve that lies ahead. I has some miles on it, but I hope it will serve me well, and by all appearances it should.

My first little setback is that my trailer seems too short for this machine - will have to fix that quickly. Just glad I manged to get it home in one piece.

Now that it sits in my garage, I plan on taking off the panels and having a good detailed look at all the bits and pieces. I need to find all the zirk fittings, give a general cleanup and make a list of wearable items to replace. I already know two of them: hyfax on both sides, and carbides.

I would like your advice on how to do the proper baseline maintenance - something I do with all the used vehicles I've acquire. An oil change is that's due in 400 miles. The PO has been using the 0W40 synthetic oil in the motor.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures I've taken so far:

Not sure why the images aren't showing up from google photo album (I've pasted shared links above).

I'm including the link to the whole Album, please let me know if that link works or not:

Thanks for any info.

87' Indy 600 motor options and other build opinions?

I am currently in the process of building an old school muscle sled. The goal is to make it more powerful and more powder worthy without ruining the sleds trail manners too much and without ruining the overall retro-ness of it as I have a huge soft spot for pre-wedge Indys. I bought the sled with a 650 triple in it but it would have to be rebuilt including the crank. So that got me wondering if I should just look for an ultra or storm motor instead? I have never seen one of these motors in a pre-wedge chassis and was wondering if I would have fitment issues with pipes under the hood and such. I lack the skills and equipment for any serious fabrication so would definitely appreciated any input here. Not really looking to do any other engine mods other than pipes as I don't want reliability to take too big of a hit. Other upgrades I plan on doing are rail extensions with a 136in track and 1.25 or 1.5in lugs, xtra 10 suspension front and rear, plastic skis, and new or re-done seat. Will also look into lightweight parts if I can find them for a reasonable price. Any input in these areas would be appreciated as well. Thanks

Lots of oldies!

Well, I cancelled my trip to northern WI due to the weather. My buddy called me and wanted me to take a look at a car he bought at Volvo Automuseum in Volo IL. As I was looking around I came across this display.

And this rear engine one.

There was a couple of side by side sleds with double tracks. Wish I would've gotten a picture of those.

Very cool.

Northern California Riding

Hey guys,

I'm from the North East and ride frequently in Old Forge, but looking to move out to the Bay Area. Are there any places with great trail systems / lakes in Northern California area?

Northern California Riding

Tether needed, close call today.

This coulda been a lot worse. Rider fell off the sled in a field with a slight decline. Idling sled happily motored along unil a tree stopped it. Rider was fine. Sled looks worse than it is. It was still running when we got to it. Broke about 40% of the nose piece off, hood is fine.

Pics are before and after. We did a few miles afterwards and it rode great.

So, I'm getting tethers fir both sleds. Does Arctic Cat make a kit? Any advice?

Sled won't start.. Need help.

I have a 1998 RMK 500, it's been running great than half way into our ride I lost complete power and the sled killed itself upon trying restart it the sled refused to it gets ready to start up and gives a poping sound (like my exhaust isn't on right for 1 cylinder not a miss fire just sounds like wind rushing out fast) Upon closer inspection I have gas around my 2nd cylinder gasket however I can't seem to find why or if it's the issue). I checked the gaskets, exhaust piston, piston psi everything is reading good/looking, I've also checked spark plugs, fuel lines, carbs, fuel pump, etc. I can't find anything wrong. Any help would be great!

'92 indy sport dies after few minutes

My old indy 440 fan ran good up until today. It lost power, felt like running on 1 cylinder then died. waited 20 minutes, starts up and runs perfect, full power for 3 or 4 minutes then same thing. I am thinking it is an electrical issue such as Stator or coil. Any ideas as to what to start checking? Thanks

Issues loading tilt trailer

I recently installed a camoplast ice attack track on my 98 touring Trail. This machine is pstrickly for ice fishing. The issue I'm having is loading the snowmobile on the trailer off of a smooth surface concrete floor. My question is what are you guys doing to load your machines on your trailers when you have pics or a factory studded track? This evening I tried to put it on the trailer and literally I was eating the concrete up and spinning the track. I tried backing up and taking a running start at it only to get a couple feet up and lose traction. One of the guys I work with suggested trying to get a section of conveyor belts to put down to add some traction. Which I think is kind of nuts especially if you're out somewhere riding and then you go to load your machine. Only to have the same issue. My thoughts were to possibly get a winch of some sort like I used to load my boat on the trailer. I could really use some suggestions thank you in advance. Vince

Wanted: two stroke engine parts

I'm an mechanical engineering student from germany and searching for two stroke engine parts intended for a motorbike project. I need those primarily to get measurements for a rough CAD model and to sort out some preliminary decicions.

There are some requirements:

- liquid cooled
- single cylindes (no cylinder blocks with 2 or 3 bores)
- exhaust valve

Arctic cat ZR/ZL 800 and polaris 440 liquid cooled engines seem to be quite suitable. It also seems that there are lots of similar engines out there.
Since i need the parts mainly to take measurements, damaged or "core" cylinders or damaged crankshafts are sufficient for this purpose.
If you have some parts like a cylinder, a crankshaft or crankshaft webs lying around and you consider supporting my project, please let me know

greetings from germany
Manuel

1980 Arctic Cat Panther

Wow! First off, cant believe its been 2 years since I've been able to post about anything, because I had nothing to post about! Well, last Monday I purchased a used 1980 Arctic Cat Panther with the 440 spirit motor. Upon test driving it it ran okay, well loaded it up and brought it home. Upon bringing it home, it ran like crap. I couldnt keep it running without full choke and it sounded like it was running on 1 cylinder. So, got to working on it yesterday.... Pulled the carb, first thing i noticed is that the screw for the clamp on the flange of the intake was gone! (explains why i had to choke it), pulled the carb and disassembled and cleaned it. Put it back on and it runs better, (still running on 1, ill get to that), I cant get it to idle down to where it wont engage the clutches, but I think as i run fresh gas and seafoam it will improve, but what is a good base line for the idle adjustment screw and throttle position to be at? So, today I put two new plugs in and it runs on both cylinders, also changed the exhaust springs out as I had them for a jag I had when i was younger. While messing with the carb I had the track off the ground and it shoots the upper idler wheel out. So, this leads me to my second question. What is the part number for the bearing in the upper idler wheel. When looking online all i can find is the wheeler assembly.

Thanks all!

Looks like winter is over

So it's already nearly mid-february and we have no snow whatsoever. It may be only February but it sure doesn't seem like old man winter is going to be nice to us the rest of the year. It has been a very disappointing winter here in northwest PA to say the least, which is not the norm. If just figures that I get a sled this year and we have so little snow days that it takes all the fun out of owning a sled. I am thankful I own this sled outright so I am not making payments on something that can't be used. So hopefully I can look forward to next year and maybe just maybe we will have a better winter. Hopefully some of you have been more fortunate than I have this year.

Yamaha Exciter carbs? Pulling my hair out!

Hey guys, there is so much great info on this forum I didn't think I would ever have to make an account but I'm just getting my butt kicked too hard this time.

1988 Yamaha exciter 570, was running good then I lost bottom and top end power; would run great at half throttle 40 mph but that's it. Figured it was gunk in the jets so pulled the mikuni round slide carbs.

Found that they weren't too bad. Cleaned all up, reinstalled and wouldnt start unless I put gas in the cylinders. Pulled them again and they were still clean, reinstalled and did not have fire. Noticed that the safety wires on a carb has broken off, pulled that one, looked up the fix and overrode the safety system.

Reinstalled, now I can get it to run but it runs like crap, has a deeper sound to the motor and won't rev up. One cylinder is a little warmer than the other and the plug is more wet than the other cyl. Compression is 130/135 cold. Choke has very little affect on how it runs.

I just keep pulling these carbs, pilot and main jet are clear, pilot air is clean, fuel pickups are clear. I haven't cleaned a lot of carbs in my day but I can't wrap my head around this issue. I have great spark, but it seems like too much fuel/choke condition in one cylinder. Choke has been working fair, I rarely use it besides a blip but they are free and adjusted properly.

I am looking for ideas on what to try. 2 feet of snow coming monday. Ive been working on this sled all week and if i dont get my trail out back packed down before monday ill never make it out to the main trail after 2 more feet. Thanks ahead of time.

So i live at about 1500 altitude and I got a 05 king cat on cold days I start it and it idles at 2000 rpm till it warms up and stay about 1600 rpm I ride when I stop it takes a minute or two but come back down to 1600 from 25-3000 rpm but on warm days like -9 -5 around there it will start first pull on first start but after the engine warms up it gets to be like 3 pulls and will idle at 1000 rpm till I hit the throttle and it will go back to 1500ish what can I do to make it idle properly at the warm weather days (between 1600-2000) thx

2002 Polaris Classic Fan Cooled - Stuck Secondary Clutch and Stuck Track Problem

I am new to the Forum but I have been a browser for a few years. I have researched this issue extensively but had no luck in finding an answer. Please keep in mind that I am a NOOB and definately not too mechanically inclined so bear with me.

My 550 starts and idles fin. It was running well until my son stopped on our driveway and it wouldn't go anywhere. The primary clutch seems to be working fine. When I put the sled on a stand and rev up the RPMs, the primary clutch moves and engages the belt (fairly new). The secondary clutch does not move at all. On the stand, I can't get the track to move an inch.

I checked for obstructions (sticks, rocks, etc) underneath and all around the track but couldn't find anything - seems clear. The belt is new and that does not SEEM to be an issue. I checked the gear oil which was low and the pin had some metallic shavings on it (not 100% sure what that means). The gear oil may be a little low. I store the sled in my barn and the track does not seem frozen or anything like that.

Any suggested troubleshooting that I can do would truly be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

Bob

"Little People"

I use this term due to being corrected over and over for not being politically correct and dropping the M word, and please just bare with me on this.

Never in a million years would I have given this a thought until I was approached by a group of people somehow associated with some sort of reality show pertaining to the little ones and a certain female star? that has a hankering to ride a snowmobile.

Long story short, I was explaining what I thought could be a perfect sled for the sizing of this particular person based on my experience having raised 4 kids and owning several phazers. Low and behold, if all comes to fruition, somehow one of my phazers will soon be a tv star and I will voluntarily stay out of the picture just because.

So this is where the question is raised. Does or has anyone ever had any direct dealings with putting a "little person" on a sled and could you share your experience or modifications to suit ones' needs to make a memorable experience for this special person? Dead serious on this and its supposed to happen this coming Saturday(2/11/17).

1999 Thundercat 1000 idle issue

Hey guys sorry my login wouldn't log in so I made a fresh account. 1999 thundercat as usual. Round slide carbs. Isles fine at start. A little low when cold, but when I press the throttle, it engages goo, a little boggy but not bad, it will take forever to come down!!!!!! What is the issue? It will hold at 2800-3000 then slooowwwwwwly come down to the 1600 rpm. Air screws are the stock 1-1/2 out, has the power breather with caps on it, carbs are clean as a whistle, brand new throttle cable, and brand new TSS/handle bar throttle switch assembly. Nothing is sticking. All clean and crisp. What should I do????

New Snow Cat

Won't Start - 2004 edge x

Hey All, hoping for a little insight to a Non-Starting 2004 Polaris 700 Edge X. This is the Mikuni float carb type. Ran great last year (under 1000km). It sat all summer. Come this year, 100 pulls and a couple tricks later... nothing doing... not even a sputter. Done so far are:
- New gas, old gas syphoned right out (gas inline valve is on)
- Checked tank gas line filter, clean as a whistle
- Cleaned carbs, all 3 jets per side. Floats hanging properly.
- Visual inspection inside fuel pump, no foreign materials.
- New spark plugs.
- Spark check outside cylinder: both sides strong spark
- Cleaned VES
- Compression tests: 135, 150.
- Little gas in each cylinder, it combust and exhaust... but won't turn over.
- Jumpered the kill switch with copper wire... nope
- Removed the handle bar warmer connections: in case of shorting.

I'm wondering about the electrical side now... would a fuse or module somewhere be capable of preventing the sled from trying to start??

Anyone with ideas would be much appreciated!!

'94 Phazer slight backfire and boggy at low accel

AFter cleaning all my carbs and ordering new rubber pilot plugs and replacing the lines and all that I was finally able to get my sled out for a rip last night. We rode about 20 miles. The machine runs fine, and i noticed it ran better toward the beginning of the ride, fired right up several times and besides being slow to get going it will open up around 20mph and really takes off like it should at that point.

I was not certain that my oil injection worked so I mixed a bit of 2 stroke into the tank. I noticed about halfway into the ride my machine started to backfire a little when i would let off and then accellerate again. By the end of the ride i had a hard time getting it started and was holding the throttle full throttle to get it to start and then it would barely rev until I got it opened up . Once riding, if we were moving it would run just the same, opened up at around 20mph and hauled @$$ like it should. We rode for another 10 miles or so and i was noticing some periodic backfire, then loaded up and headed home. It also seems to have a rather loud tick at idle which I'm not able to pin point.

I haven't looked at the plugs yet but i'm wondering and hoping that this is a simple fouled plug issue from running too much oil since i did mix the tank as well as using the injection which I can now confirm works. I'm going to double check all carb boots tonight and make sure i don't have any sort of leak, but I'm curious if anybody knows where to look first if you're backfiring out of the exhaust on one of these motors.

Thank you in advance. Since my problem got worse the more i ran it, i'm thinking and hoping it's just plugs and possibly too rich of an oil mix.

switchback 700 new used drop in engine, different cooling hose connections?

I have a 2004 switchback 700 VES. The engine was seized from being submerged in salt water. I took a chance and bought an engine out of a 2003 edge 700 VES with low miles. It looked and fits like the old one did. However now that I'm hooking everything up, the coolant hoses dont match. It seems that the hose coming from the brake cooler would go underneath thermostat, but there is already a smaller diameter hose that goes from under the thermostat to the water pump on this new engine. The hose on top of the thermostat goes to the front tunnel cooler. There are no t's, and the coolant bottle only has a hose going straight through the bottom, no nipple on the side. Would it matter where I tied it in? Here is a picture of what I'm working with, please advise on where to tie in or eliminate the hose.Thank you

92 650 motor in 96 XLT chassis lighting issues

Hello all,
I am in need of some electrical wiring expertise here. I have successfully (well...almost) swapped a 92 RXL 650 motor, which I converted to carb, into a 96 XLT SP chassis. The motor runs good in the sled, the issue I'm having is with the wiring harness/connector that comes from the 92 RXL stator. The connector on the chassis for lighting is the same connector so plugs right in, but the wire colours do not match and there are some significant issues with lighting and the tach.
Here are some known issues:
  • When low beams are on, there is no headlight or Tach
  • When high beams are on there is a headlight, but it extinguishes when the brake is applied
  • When the accessory is used (hand and thumb warmers) the brake light brightens
  • When the brake is applied the brake light goes out instead of brightening

These are just the issues i'm aware of, there may be more.
I'm hoping that I can rewire the connectors to correct whatever is crosswired. I have studied the electrical diagrams for both models and it is very hard to determine which wires are for what. I have included a diagram of the wires in question. Can anyone tell me what these wires are for and if its possible to correct this issue.

EDIT:
I have included the wiring diagrams for both sleds. The highlighter on the RXL one is not mine, so please disregard.

SRV 540 Lower End Oil Leak

I have a bad oil leak on my 83 SRV 540 engine coming from either the injection pump or possibly the crank seal on the clutch side. I seem to be losing vacuum pressure for the fuel pump also. I am considering doing a lower end rebuild. Does anyone know of a good step by step manual for a amateur? Or if anyone knows where I can get a complete engine that would even be better.

92 RXL EFI Blue relays

hey everyone. there was something posted on another forum on either this site or some other but i am having trouble with my rxl. ill post some pics of it because i just did a frame off restore on it and cleaned and repaired everything. just one small problem from my past has come back to haunt me. its those damn blue relays!!!! It runs perfect, like a dream, the only thing is it shuts off every ten minutes like a timer. you will have to go through cold start procedures to get it to go again. I know those relays are at fault. if i switch them around the sled still runs like that. no other issues. what i need to know is what the test procedure for those are again and more important. ARE THEY THE SAME???? or is one for the ten minute memory for the efi to stay on? i have 4 of them from my parts sleds but before i just go replacing them without knowing if they are plug specific that would be great. i replaced the center one last year and that problem was gone. totaled the sled. frame of restore on it. and i dont know which is which now. if they are even different. someone please help. it would be great

Can't feel clicks on 2013 Nytro RTX center shock rebound adjuster

I recently acquired a 2013 Nytro RTX. I did a search on this issue across various forums and found a few threads with the issue expressed, but there was no definitive answer.

There is an issue with the rebound adjuster on the center shock when I tried to adjust it. Starting with the knob turned all the in, as I back out, I feel 2 clicks, then it spins freely for about 1.5 turns. In this 1.5 turn zone, you feel no clicks until you get near the end and then you feel 3 clicks. The adjustment definitely hits travel stops in each direction. I can go a little over 2 turns between travel stops.

Is this simply an issue with the detent mechanism and the rebound is still adjustable or is something wrong with the rebound circuit?

Thanks.

- Walt

High REVS?????

Good day all, new to the forum, thanks for having me! OK so I chewed up the belt pretty good on my 93 Formula Plus 583, so good that I had to take the air filter plastic housing off to unwrap the broken belt which had made a big mess around my primary clutch! after a half our of knuckle busting and swearing I was finally able to free the shredded belt from the clutch! put my new belt on, put the plastic air filter housing back on making sure both rubber boots were on flush, secured the two ring clamps and put the sled back together! Here's the problem now it revs 3500 to 4000 when I start it! I didn't have any high revving issues before I chewed the belt up! The sled runs amazing when riding! doesn't bog, response on the throttle is great but she REVS like a cat in heat when I start it and won't come down! even when I'm riding and get off the throttle she still revs at 3500 to 4000??? does anyone know what I screwed up and how to fix it? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cheers.

2005 RS Rage Flashing Orange Light

Got a 2005 RS Rage ran around yard GREAT, Took it out to the lake ran it for less than 5 min and the orange light on the dash came on and started blinking ? sled stopped, it would set there and idle, but the second i hit the throttle it would bog down and backfire. There was"nt a lot of snow on the lake but there was not that much in the yard either, was not the temp light, was the square orange light, also when it was blinking so was the speedometer and fuel light gauge and a number 84. Is that some kind of Fault code ??

1988 Ski Doo Safari 377

Recently acquired a 1988 Ski Doo Safari. This is my first sled and I have little to no experience with sleds or small engines but I'm smart enough to see the simplicity of how they work and just handy enough to be dangerous. So it had been sitting for possibly 2 years from what I was told. When I got it, it wouldn't start. Had some rotten gas lines, old gas etc. Replaced some parts, and it ran like a champ. For about a week. Then it wouldn't stay running. Had to replace the carb flanges, they were dry rotted through and sucking air. So while I waited on parts I decided to pull the carbs and clean them completely. Got the flanges on and it ran even better. For a day. Had it out yesterday and it suddenly didn't want to move when I applied throttle. After some fidgeting with the throttle it started to move a little bit at a time but when I would try to mash on it, it bogged out like it wanted to die. Feathered the throttle some more then eventually it started act closer to normal yet sluggish. Limped it home and it started acting up again. I should also mention that it will only idle for about 5 minutes tops and then dies out unless I throttle it. I can possibly make a video if that would help. I'm guessing it's something with the carbs but not educated enough to know what or how to fix it. Any help?

07 renegade 800 running on one cylinder at idle?

hey guys i have a problem with my 07 renegade 800. would like to get a couple opinions. when i first bought the sled about 2 months ago it ran good just didnt want to idle so i bought it anyway thinking it would be an east fix. maybe bad gas for clogged carbs. well i drained the gas and cleaned the carbs jets were good and bowl was cleaned. it ran a little better but not great. i got to looking and realize i needed new carb boots. replaced them. sled seemed to be running better so have taken it up riding a couple times seemed to run good just always had a low idle. got to looking more into it and got to thinking or pretty positive its only running one cylinder. any ideas on helping solve my problem or trying to find the reason would be great thanks.

1996 VMax 600

My drive chain broke. I got replacement parts and a repair manual. The problem is there are two thin shaft shims or spacers that are not shown in the manual and I can't remember where they go. I usually take photos as I go so I know how everything goes back together but I got lazy and assumed the manual would address their location but it doesn't. I have the spacers on the drive shaft as shown but can't figure out the appropriate placement of these two thinner shims. Can anybody advise me here?

97 touring 380 no start

Hey guys. So the 380 acted up today. it died on my son cruising down the trail. went to restart it and it started. I took it from there and it seemed to be OK (maybe a little low on top end). so we stopped for lunch and when we came out it wouldn't start. noticed no fuel in the fuel filter. I went and got the truck and trailer with my other sled. when I got back about 25 minutes later it started and I drove it up on the trailer. gas was now filling the filter. it did this once last year. but then it ran fine the rest of the season. and it ran fine up until today. I`m thinking its the fuel pump. otherwise it is a nice comfortable sled!

Do they offer a rebuild kit for it?

Thanks again.

78 Everest 340 loss of power

Hey guys, picked up a 78 Everest 340, starts and runs great but as soon as the throttle is more than halfway it bogs almost to a stop. I made sure the carb is clean, and everything adjusted properly, put in new condensers and points and adjusted everything and checked it twice, new plugs, wires, coils... can't seem to shake the problem, compression test was 90 psi in pto cyl and 120 psi in mag side cyl. Not sure if that's enough to cause this much of an issue.

2012 grand touring 1200 4 tec problem

Hi. Last week wile i was driving my motor went on 2 cylinders them i suspect on one because i had no more power at all. i stop the skidoo i after few moment it start back and was fine for few miles and start acting on me again and let it cool down and barley got back to truck.
I am testing my coils connection by unplug theme one by one with motor running .I notice when i unplug one the motor will run on 2 and don't go bach on 3 after plunging coil back .. It will do that for all coils. If i start motor again it will go back on 3.Just went for a ride around and motor still acting again.
Someone can help me with suggestions. It will be appreciated . Thanks

2012 grand touring 1200 4 tec problem

What's normal compression?

I've always been told that compression on a 2-stroke engine (any make) should be >120 psi. I've now been told that Polaris sleds may have less compression and still be fine, and that you can find the specs in the service manual. I have a 2013 PRO RMK 800, but cannot locate a service manual. What is "new" compression, and at what compression would you start to think there may be a need for a rebuild? Does anybody know the specs or where to find them for this sled?

1989Enticer 400 R/T Ignition wiring problem

I have a 1989 Enticer 400 T/R and a 340 Ovation that have under 500 kms - they ran only one year then sat in a garage. I rebuilt Enticer engine as it was stuck, carbs on both sleds and they ran great for one year. Entice 400T/R lost fire on an outing, it shut off as if key had been turned off - no spark at plugs. I have tried the following;
1. Traded CDI, magneto and external coil with Ovation - the Enticer did not start with Ovation parts and the Ovation ran with the Enticer parts so there is no problem with the major ignition parts.
2. Disconnected carb switch and joined the wires running to the carb switch to bypass it.
3. Tested kill switch, ignition and throttle switch with meter. They appear to function. Joined wires from throttle switch to bypass it.
4. I have a wiring diagram that I followed when tracing wires and testing with an ohmmeter.
5. Disconnected brown wire from CDI to magneto coil, replaced it with a wire running directly between them outside of harness. The Enticer started - however neither the kill switch or ignition switch will turn the engine of.

I plan to run wires directly from the kill switch and the ignition to the appropriate wire (black with white stripe) from the cdi. I understand that the switches ground the cdi to stop engine. Is there a possibility of damaging the CDI by doing this. It appears that there may a short or corrosion in the wiring harness???

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oil Seal PTO Side

So the belt busted at WOT and got tangled around the crankshaft , between the clutch and the oil seal.

Brought the skidoo back home, took off the clutch, and the damn seal melted with the belt. and part of it go stuck in the engine (Where it new seal slide in the engine), so i've used a heat gun and a pick to take off as much as I can and get it pretty much done but there still maybe a 1/16 of seal stuck on the block and i can't reach it. I've tried to hammer down the new seal with ABS and wood, it won't go in completely, anything I can do to fix that?

Here's the picture of the carnage : http://ift.tt/2ksByHi

I did a leak test (Block the carb while the engine running) and engine stalled so i guess the seal is sealing properly.

Should I leave it as is and hope for the best?

Thanks,

1993 Polaris Indy Trail grounding out?

My brother has a 1993 Indy Trail. His throttle lever was broken so he turned it off, replaced the lever and tried to restart it and it would not start. I checked and found there was no spark at the plugs. I unplugged the single wire coming from the ignition box and it started but dies if you plug the wire back in. We tried bypassing the key switch and the kill button and still nothing. The only thing he did was turn it off using the kill button on the handlebars and then replace the throttle lever (pulled the pin, put the lever in place ad put the pin back in). Any ideas what else might be causing it? Are we missing something?

1993 Polaris Indy Trail grounding out?

Can anyone help identify this polaris?

I bought this polaris about a week ago. I was told it was a 1996 or 97 ultra 800. The choke cables and lever are broken and so is the hood (long story short, it died on a trail halfway up a hill and got rolled recovering it). In trying to find parts i am having trouble finding anything so hoping someone can help me identify the actual year and what it is. I found a vin number but no model tag. The 7 digit vin starts with 222 (i have it at home and i am at work so dont have the full vin available at the moment). The control panel on the right says Indy and it says 800 on the engine.

New member saying hello

Hello, I am new here and new to riding. I live in Spokane, WA. and I have a 1987 Yamaha Exciter EX570, a 1996 Yamaha Phazer II Mountain Lite and a Polaris that I am unsure of. I will post in another forum about that. My brother has a 1993 Polaris Indy Trail and a 1996 Yamaha Phazer II LE we ride around his inlaws property.

Yamaha excited 570

Hi I've had a 1992 Yamaha exciter 570 for a while. Haven't been out riding it on any trails but around town. I rode it for about 30 min after a first snowfall and it killed replaced the ignition coil and spark plugs thinking it was overheating. Took it up north and the slides decided to melt to the slides. Broke them off after it bogging a ton trying to get going. Finally broke the melted slides off of the track inspected them and they were fine. Rode another 6 miles and it killed at the trailer never to start again. I had enough with it and didn't touch it until today. Looked at the tank and it was dang near empty. Could anyone tell me why it's guzzling gas. And could someone give me any ideas on why it could have died after 30 min of riding? Btw I only rode 25 miles and it was empty. Thank you for any help!
