Wow! First off, cant believe its been 2 years since I've been able to post about anything, because I had nothing to post about! Well, last Monday I purchased a used 1980 Arctic Cat Panther with the 440 spirit motor. Upon test driving it it ran okay, well loaded it up and brought it home. Upon bringing it home, it ran like crap. I couldnt keep it running without full choke and it sounded like it was running on 1 cylinder. So, got to working on it yesterday.... Pulled the carb, first thing i noticed is that the screw for the clamp on the flange of the intake was gone! (explains why i had to choke it), pulled the carb and disassembled and cleaned it. Put it back on and it runs better, (still running on 1, ill get to that), I cant get it to idle down to where it wont engage the clutches, but I think as i run fresh gas and seafoam it will improve, but what is a good base line for the idle adjustment screw and throttle position to be at? So, today I put two new plugs in and it runs on both cylinders, also changed the exhaust springs out as I had them for a jag I had when i was younger. While messing with the carb I had the track off the ground and it shoots the upper idler wheel out. So, this leads me to my second question. What is the part number for the bearing in the upper idler wheel. When looking online all i can find is the wheeler assembly.
Thanks all!
