Short ladies: How many calories do you eat to lose weight/maintain?

Im 5 ft and weigh about 115 pounds. I eat about 1200 calories and exercise about 20-30 minuetes 5-6 times a week. Im just curious about how many calories women my height eat to maintain/lose weight.

21 Day Fix... It works and is cheaper than the gym.

FITNESS CHALLENGE:
On Monday September 7, 2015 I will be starting my 3rd round of 21Day Fix/Extreme. Who will accept this challenge and join me? Currently I'm on day 13 of round 3 I've lost 15pounds and several inches.

THE PROGRAM:
The program is only 21 days and 30 minutes a day. Equipment needed, DVDs, yoga mat, a set of light weights (women 3-5lbs, men 8-10lbs) and a set of heavy weights (women 8-10lbs, men 12-15lbs).

HOW TO BUY THE PROGRAM:
If you already have the program you're well on your way! If you don't own the program the links below will help you find and purchase them through team beachbody. If you don't want to buy the program and live near me I work out in the mornings and would gladly welcome a workout buddy!

CAN YOU GET THE PROGRAM FROM ANYWHERE ELSE?:
Yes you can get the program from amazon for the same price. However you get more benefits from buying from the links below such as an online community and access to beachbody on demand for 30 days free (take your workouts any where) each time you log in a workout on super gym you get entered into a chance to win some cash prizes. The best benefit you get when you buy from my links is me as your beachbody coach. I well help to keep you accountable and give you the much need motivation to keep you going. I will also add you to 21day fix facebook groups where you will find other like us doing the same workouts and you will have access to different amazing recipes.

MY PERSONAL REVIEW:
21 day fix is a great program for people already involved in fitness and beginners. I will be honest, it is not a program where all you need to do is the workouts to see results. You also need to follow the eating plan which is not hard once you get the hang of it. You might need to do multiple rounds You're not going to go from a size 20 to a size 10 in 3 weeks. There are days that will be harder than the ones before however there is a modifier that you can follow if the workouts get too intense. Overall the program works but you need to work hard for the result you want. You can do it guys its only 21 days!

SHAKEOLOGY:
Shakeology is a super food nutritional shake. I drink one everyday after my 21day fix workout. The shake gives your body the right nutrition to fuel your body for these workouts. To me it is truly the healthiest meal of the day it also help eliminate unhealthy cravings. If you do decide to do the challenge pack I would suggest the Chocolate Shakeology or Vegan Chocolate (these are my personal flavors.

HOW TO CONTACT ME:
If you have any questions or comments just facebook message me and I will get back to you asap. If we are not friends on facebook just add me and I will accept your friend request! http://ift.tt/1IzQhD3 If you are not interested at all thanks for reading and sharing this post with friends and family.

You don't need a gym to lose weight!!

http://ift.tt/1X7qxJi

GYMS don't work for everyone. It didn't work for me. I decided to cancel my gym membership and put my money toward home works. Altogether I lost 66lbs, and 16 of them same from doing 21 day fix... This program was amazing for me and I just wanted to share incase it could help someone else reach their goals.
Even if you don't think this program is for you. DON'T GIVE UP! no matter what you do to reach your goals you just CAN'T GIVE UP because you are only giving up on yourself!

In case you are interested here is my review on the program I did and how to get it!

dimanche 30 août 2015

Greetings

Hi, everybody good to join you!

I'm back

I abandoned ship in May, after I was hit off my bike. I just ate rubbish for a few weeks, and then I was off backpacking around Asia!

I don't know if I explained before, but I was tired of being stuck in a rut, so I quit my job in the UK, and set off on an adventure. I vowed to stop stressing over insignificant things, and to go with the flow more.

Well I did go with the flow, and I did let go of a lot of unnecessary stress. I had the best two months of my life, and would still be on the road, but an opportunity to work in Hong Kong came my way, so I decided to go for it.

Here I am in Hong Kong now! Crazy place! Amazing food (uh oh). I arrived in HK a month ago, weighing 150 pounds. Not great, but not awful considering for two months, I stayed in hostels and ate out for every meal! I don't think I gained or lost anything travelling, because although I was eating a lot, I was also constantly walking around and doing things.

So one month into Hong Kong, I've managed to lose 5.8 pounds, which is great! I did this through clean eating and low carb for three weeks, but I then got bored and went on a crazy binge. It was a low point when I consumed an entire bag of choc chip cookies, and went into a food coma and woke up with my laptop on me and cookie crumbs all over myself!

Now I am trying to just be sensible, but not go so sugar and carb free that I end up with cravings and binging. I'm also walking only, no underground for me. It helps that I live up 100+ stairs with no elevator!

I will track progress on here.

So today, I am 144.2 pounds, or 10 stone 4.2 pounds. I would like to get below 140 pounds (or 10 stone) by this time next month. Baby steps!

Stats:
Height: 5' 6"/ 167cm
Weight: 10 stone 4.2/ 144.2 pounds
UK dress size: 10 on the top and 12 on the bottom
US dress size: 8 on the top and 10 on the bottom

My journey

i am about 5' 4'' and i am about 180 pounds. I am pretty short for my age but i look even shorter, my upper body is a bit wide for instance my shoulder plus i am a bit overweight. I just started working out and I'm hoping to keep it up :)

Alcohol and exercise

Hi every one! Lately, I've been doing very well with staying in a great routine of working out and eating. But, I have been wondering how others balance taking in frivolous foods (alcohol) and maintain a health diet. I've pretty much given up drinks because I don't want to consume a lot of extra sugar and calories. Any advice, guidance, or stories are appreciated.

What is the biggest challenge you have when trying to lose weight?

Just want to know what is it that makes weight loss difficult for you?
For me it was the motivation to exercise.

Weight loss plateau

Since Nov 2013, I've lost 30lbs with diet and consistently training 4-5x a week. The past 3 months I've hit a plateau and can't seem to lose anymore. I go from 125 to 120, and then back to 125 and I can't seem to get under that 120 mark. I'm only 5'2" so 125 still feels heavy to me and I still want to lose fat in my belly and love handles. I don't know if I'm making progress but the scale just isn't showing it or if my nutrition is off. I eat about 1200 calories a day.
135g- protein
70g- carbs
40g- fats

Picture on left is 7/22, middle is 8/13, and right one is from today 8/29. So about 5 weeks apart.

Please someone help!

How did you lose weight fast?

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Saucy September Weigh In Challenge

Most people have done these before but here's the gist of it.
You weigh once a week (choose whatever day you like best), and choose a goal for the end of the month.
Anyone can join at any time during the month!

August 28: 141.2
Sept 4:
Sept 11:
Sept 18:
Sept 25:

Goal weight will be 137. If I can get my eating under control that should be an attainable goal.

4 Easy Tips and guaranteed to lose weight in a week!

If you're someone who doesn't like to follow a certain diet to lose weight, here are five easy tips are guaranteed to lose weight in a week:

1. Avoid sweets because they are the main source of sugars that play the biggest role in weight gain because of what gives him the body from many calories. Though I felt the desire to eat sugar, sweets Replace with dates.
2. canceled dinner from your list , or at least , the last and eat a meal in your day at seven in the evening before , and will not Give whatever how much the move will reflect positively on your weight loss and the fact that dinner is the largest meal contribute to weight gain.

3. Do not eat until the feeling of satiety, because this bad habit will cause increasing the size of the stomach with time and thus increasing the need for greater quantities of food. Has commanded the prophet, Mohammed, peace be upon him that we use one-third of our stomach for food and one-third for drink and one-third of the air, so we keep our bodies healthy and sound. This advice and help weight loss because they lead to a stomach-stapling with time and thus reducing the amount of food that you need to feel stomach fullness.
4. Avoid small meals between the main meals are more of the factors causing weight gain, if you need energy between meals, during work you can eat snacks and healthy, low- calorie.

Biotin - stalled weight loss? - Confusing excerpt included

So I have been reading online that biotin increases metabolism, but have read reviews of people gaining weight while on biotin supplements. About a month ago I started taking biotin for my hair, and that was when I started stalling on weight loss. Now, I know wiki is not the end-all be-all of information, but I pulled this from there and need help understanding what this is saying. acetyl-CoA-carboyxlase (ACC) is a biotin dependent enzyme.

One of the effects of exercise is an increase in fatty acid metabolism, which provides more energy for the cell. One of the key pathways in AMPK’s regulation of fatty acid oxidation is the phosphorylation and inactivation of acetyl-CoA carboxylase.[55] Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) converts acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, an inhibitor of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT-1). CPT-1 transports fatty acids into the mitochondria for oxidation. Inactivation of ACC, therefore, results in increased fatty acid transport and subsequent oxidation. It is also thought that the decrease in malonyl-CoA occurs as a result of malonyl-CoA decarboxylase (MCD), which may be regulated by AMPK.[49] MCD is an antagonist to ACC, decarboxylating malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA, resulting in decreased malonyl-CoA and increased CPT-1 and fatty acid oxidation. AMPK also plays an important role in lipid metabolism in the liver. It has long been known that hepatic ACC has been regulated in the liver by phosphorylation.[50] AMPK also phosphorylates and inactivates 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis.[45] HMGR converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA, which is made from acetyl-CoA, into mevalonic acid, which then travels down several more metabolic steps to become cholesterol. AMPK, therefore, helps regulate fatty acid oxidation and cholesterol synthesis.

So does increased fatty acid transport and subsequent oxidation mean used for energy or stored?

If it means used for energy, that would mean that I would want to inactivate ACC, which means I should stop taking biotin, since ACC is triggered by biotin?
If it means stored, that would mean I would want to continue taking biotin, to activate ACC to prevent the storage from happening?

I guess I'm trying to figure out what fatty acid transport and subsequent oxidation means - energy or stored.

Hi Everyone!

I am a 28 year old mother of three amazing kids. From the age of 12 I have struggled with my weight. Never got over 200lbs but was very close and when I say very close I mean 198lbs. That was the moment in 2012 I realized that I had to do something. I had low self-esteem and a lack of confidence for years. I started working out and lost a couple lbs but that was it. My life was hectic between work and coming home to my 3 kids that I was tired had no energy to work out or do anything really. I continued to eat unhealthy foods and drink 5-6 sodas a day. Basically just gave up trying to lose weight and be healthy. I eventually gained back everything that I had lost which was to be expected. I eventually was able to lose 6lbs without trying. 3 years later I was introduced to some amazing products that has helped me not only lose weight but give me the energy I need to work out. I got healthy from the inside out. It helped with my sugar and soda cravings. I haven't had a soda in 5 months. 5 months into this journey and I am down 26lbs and several inches. I have my life back and my confidence back. I am so much happier than I have ever been. I get to do stuff with my kids that I never thought I would ever be able to do.

Your time will come so don't give up! Keep pushing and fighting until you meet your goals. I am here if you have any questions or if you just need encouragement and support.

Progress and Setbacks - the Road Ahead

Hi everyone, I've visited a few of your threads already and thought it would be a good idea to start one myself.

Time to make a few changes. Currently weighing in at 270.2 lbs and looking to get down to 230lbs, drop my body fat %, and be in better shape overall in 40 weeks time which makes goal day 2 June 2016. When I reach this goal, the plan switches to maintaining this weight which is a bigger challenge for me. I've been down to this weight twice in the past 8 years but an injury or lack of focus always brings me back to where I find myself today or even heavier. In the past, when I was focused on making the right decisions the weight has tended to come off fast for me.

I am starting today instead of waiting until the start of a new week and will be focusing on getting at least four 30 minute workouts per week into the schedule. Aiming for a combination of weight lifting and cardio like light jogging or biking.

I know what it takes to reach this goal and need to focus on making the right choices each day. Not planning to follow any extreme plan but will be focused on 4-5 smaller meals each day and targeting 2000-2200 calories a day.

Good training all,

Chiara's Diary of Weight Loss

Ok this is the first time I've ever tried an online support group for this sort of thing, so please bare with me. I'm known to ramble and go on tangents, so things my get interesting here lol. I am 26 years old, 5'6" and 236lbs, wow it's hard to post that on here for the world to see. I am built with a natural slim waist and high muscle content from years of working with horses and outside. Most people guess me at 185-190, but I'm really 236lbs. I really want to get down to 165-170, but mainly BE HEALTHY!!!!!!! I want to be a strong women who's healthy and happy with myself. Right now I don't like my body, my thighs are huge as is my stomach and I have stretch marks everywhere.

Time for a side note: I recently came off a six month trip on Cymbalta which made me gain 50lbs in about 4 months (not fun) so that's where the massive stretch marks came from. I was in the 190's for many years, but exploded from that med.

Sooooooooo back to what I dislike about myself some more: I have a rather large butt and chest, add that with my small waist and it makes me look like a walking hour glass. Now I know lots of people strive to be the perfect 36/26/40 but it's not easy nor fun to find clothes that fit. FYI right now im a 36/28/42 in case anyone wondered. I want a flatter stomach, a smaller butt and the fat rolls of my back to be gone. I look at pictures of myself as a teenager and I look really good, like hott good. I want to be like that again and enjoy myself while still enjoying food and life.

So right now I'm currently battling IBS so i'm already recording a food diary. I'm unsure about my recommended calorie intake, but I don't want to get too severe in recording. On a average day I eat a fat free yogurt and fruit for breakfast, a average size lunch of salad, meat and starch and pasta or something for dinner. Add in skim milk, several small snacks and about 4-6 bottles of water a day and you have my diet. I stay away from fast food, greasy fried foods, but indulge in chocolate still. I work/ride at my horse barn x2 week, walk my dog about a mile x2 a week and try (key word) to do moderate exercise x2 week.

Today I walked my dog 1/2 mile in hich 1/3 of that I jogged (or attempted while avoiding the neighbors watching me try to run) then I did a series of leg lifts/crunches and arm lifts which equaled 20mins or 200 total.

I know I have problems. I eat too many carbs and sweets. I can be lazy about exercise. Some days I'd rather lay in bed after work with a box of crackers than anything else. BUT this won't change without me doing something. This is up to me!!!

My first forum!.... Never slim.... My struggle

Well, long story short.... I was never the popular girl in school, was very chubby and was always a part of the medium Club`... Not slim, not funny, not completely fat... NOT SPECIAL... hey!, I don`t feel bad about that... It was simply who I was, who I was told that I was with my mother, brothers and friends`.... I had so many difficulties losing weight, I remember making diets since I was 15 years old, I was 170 pounds... I remember reaching my 18th year graduation and after 3 months with the nutritionist, having a weight of 180pounds.... I had lost about 10 pounds in three months. I had tried all sorts of diets and products... None of them worked.

Then I meet Herbalife, I lost 35 pounds in four months and felt better than ever, Not slim either... But I was able to finally learn how to eat, how to workout and better yet to love myself for who I am.

I have been using this product for seven years already and will never get tired of them. Let me help you to lose weight!!.

Newbie here :)

Hello all.

I don't think I an adequately express how excited I am to have found this site! I used to journal a lot and that's when I did the best on my weight loss, long story short the site I used to use has disappeared. Although I've tried numerous other sites and tried blogging, it just isn't as comfortable for me as journaling...keeping one journal where it's easy to go back and look at items helps me. I believe it also makes it much easier to support others when they journal instead of blog. Plus this site looks so much like my old one that it feels comfortable. :)

I'll start a diary, hopefully soon, but for now a bit about me... I'm in my middle 40's, a single mom to one son who is my pride and joy. Except for a few years during his junior high time I have been a single mom since I found out I was pregnant. He started his freshman year in college this week. I work full time and this past April I started attending college, online, full time. I keep pretty busy between school and work.

And I'll save the rest of the life story for my diary.

Have a great day all!

Lose weight in a clever way

I think we should take exercises and fat burner supplements in a scientific way. Select a range of premium products from famous brands. Then select brand that having good promotion such as good price, cheap shipping or free shipping. You may have a look at:

Weight Loss Advice (15 years old)

Hello, friends. So, I'm here today asking for some help and advice.

Okay, so here goes.

My name is Ashton, male, I am almost 16 in November, I am 5'10 and I weigh 335 pounds. Let me discuss how I got this big and then hopefully you guys can help me with losing it. Okay, so first and foremost, I have been lazy all my life. It's not that I don't know how to work, how to exercise, I just have never wanted to. I was, and still am, content to play video games all day and browse the web. But I've come to the realization that I can no longer keep doing this. Another issue is that I am homeschooled for the past few years, by my own choice. Reason why, is my school teaches creationism and I do not think that is a proper education. I'm also wanting to be a neurosurgeon, and I need a GOOD education to do that, and online education is the best way to go.

Anyways, I am trying to fill my schedule with more productive and useful things-aka not video games. I am getting a job soon, so I will have a job, school, and the gym everyday to take up my time, so I think it's a good step to taking control of my life.

So, all that aside, let's talk about health. I have had an eating disorder related to Anxiety, but I have medication for that now and my binge eating habits have went away, but, even though I'm maintaining my weight, I"m not losing. I'm going to the gym in 2 months when I'm 16, as there is an age requirement, but I want to prepare before I go.

Here are my questions.

-I will be going to the gym 6 days a week for an hour and a half, what should I do with this time, any recommendations? Give me any information you can about weight lifting, cardio, etc. Keep in mind, I am very heavy, so I can't start off by walking 3 miles. I have to start slow.

-Food. I plan on getting up at about 9am and going to bed at 11-12, with three meals a day. I want to make one meal subway veggie delight, as I love subway, but what are some other healthy meals that I can eat, along with healthy snacks. I don't' drink soda or anything like that, although I do on occasion have an energy drink. Other than monster, It's just water. I don't eat junk food, either. Maybe one or two cookies a day, but that's really it. My main issue would be I would have 1-2 thousand calorie meals when I would binge eat, it was never really snacks that were my issue, so I'm fine there. I just need healthy snack ideas, and healthy meal ideas.

-This is a very hard question, and impossible to answer accurately, but I will still ask it anyways. How long would it take to go from 335lbs to about 160? That's my ideal healthy weight. I'm aware it won't happen over night, I've learnt this the hard way over trying diets and falling off them for, uhh, 5 years now? I have finally accepted it will take time. Any ideas?

Those are my questions, sorry for this wall of text, I am bad with expressing issues in few words, just the way I am. Any information would be appreciated.

Easy weight loss tips

How can I lose weight? Here's Easy weight loss tips for losing weight and burning fat fast!

1. Forget About Working Out
If the word "exercise" inspires you to creative avoidance, then avoid it. Maybe the trick to enjoying a workout may be to never call it working out.

2. Make sure you eat breakfast at the right time!

Eat Breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up. This gets your metabolism working which helps to burn those calories. Because your body's metabolism rises when you eat. When you wake the energy dependency increases, if you do not eat within 30-60 minutes your body will go into fight mode and your resting basic metabolic rate is reduced. In addition to this you will be hungry all afternoon/evening.

3. Use weights or body weight in your work out

Using weights means that even when you have finished your workout you continue to burn calories. You have used more muscle fibres and have taken part in a different discipline to non-resistance exercise – it all helps!
Calculate Your Calories
Wear an activity monitor for 1 week to determine your baseline activity level and daily calorie burn before moving on to steps 2 and 3. This will help you gauge how much—or how little—you're currently moving and help you discover where you can make small changes that'll add up to big results.
4. Forget About Working Out
If the word "exercise" inspires you to creative avoidance, then avoid it. Maybe the trick to enjoying a workout may be to never call it working out.

5. Walking

Walk a bit further. Park further away from the shop entrance in a car park. Get off the bus/train one stop earlier. Take the stairs! This will increase the number of calories you burn per day which over time will help you drop pounds.

A desperate attempt.

Hey everyone!
My name is Nathan and I'm 21 years old, I practically have my entire life in front of me but I'm just hindered by my weight.
I'd destroyed my self esteem, effected my ability to work out/participate in physical activities and maybe the smoking doesn't help either.
(Almost over with the sob story). I'm one of those people who say constantly that I'll do it tomorrow but that day never comes. I've been having some health issues lately and I've come to the realisation that I'm just killing myself.
I have a great physique/structure/silhouette, whatever you want to call it. I'm extremely broad and stand at about 6". I used to play rugby so I carry my weight well.
For the past 4 days I've been eating pretty well and have resisted the temptation to put any junk food in my mouth.
Standing at 21st 4pounds I feel things have gotten a little out of hand.
Is their anyone out there who has overcome and incredible weight loss? In a similar situation to myself? knows what to recommend?
I need suggestions on food, exercise, just someone to point in the right direction.
I've set out to compete in "Tough Mudder" if anyone in the UK has heard of it, it'll be my milestone for 2016. Please get in touch. Thankyou.

Top 10 Weight Loss Foods

Hello everyone,
If you want lose weight fast, you must follow these tips:

1. Tomatoes I love them all the goodness they contain and they have water in which fills you up

2. Fish I eat mostly salmon when we have it mostly in sandwiches or with a salad

3. Eggs I eat a fair few eggs two reasons mainly one the protein and two they suppress your appetite.

4. Soup extremely low in calories very filling and studies show that it suppresses your appetite.

5.Apples very low calorie food and contains pectin which is it’s own fibre takes quite a while to break down in your stomach plus turns off the hungry signal in your mind.

6.Egg Whites :The egg debate rages on with so many gurus saying the yolks are OK, and so many others saying for weight loss you should stick to egg whites. Why all the fuss? Eggs are a good source of protein, and the main argument is on whether the fat and cholesterol in the yolks is worth eating.

Play it safe and get the benefit of the protein without worrying about the yolks. When your weight is where you want it you can start adding them back into the equation.

7.Grapefruit :No need to go on some whacky grapefruit diet to get the benefits of it, but for most people this is going to require a new purchase at the store. Grapefruit doesn’t tend to make it onto most people’s shopping lists, but it should. In regards to weight loss the long standing myth that they help you lose weight is being proven left and right by clinical studies.

And you don’t have to buy the fruit, you can also simply buy grapefruit juice and start drinking that instead. Tim Ferriss of The Four Hour Body says he uses grapefruit juice on his “free days” in an effort to avoid the food he’s eating from causing weight gain.

8. Pureed Vegetables:You can add more veggies to your diet, enjoy your "cheat" foods, and cut back on the calories you’re eating, all at the same time. When Penn State researchers added pureed cauliflower and zucchini to mac and cheese, people seemed to like the dish just as much. But they ate 200 to 350 fewer calories. Those healthy vegetables added low-cal bulk to the tasty dish.

9.Pears often get overlooked as the long lost cousin to apples, but they bring their own unique flavor and host of benefits, including weight loss properties. They help you feel full when you eat them, and they’ve got a different consistency to apples and other fruits, making their fiber even more effective.

They’re also used in plenty of recipes that yield delicious results. If you didn’t use pears in your cooking before, or as a fruit to just have around, now’s the time to start.

10.Lentils:Lentils are gaining more popularity has a healthy food, and one that can help you lose the weight. The fiber they contain will help keep you feeling good between meals, and will help your blood sugar levels from spiking.

Hello!

Well I'm new to this whole weight-loss thing. Just looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle and quality of life! Not sure where to start so I'm looking for some tips! My name is Cate, and I'm so excited to meet you all!

How to Lose Weight Fast: 3 Simple Steps, Based on Science!

here are many ways to lose a lot of weight fast.

However, most of them will make you hungry and unsatisfied.

If you don’t have iron willpower, then hunger will cause you to give up on these plans quickly.

The 3-step plan outlined here will:

Reduce your appetite significantly.
Make you lose weight fast, without being hungry.
Improve your metabolic health at the same time.
All of this is supported by scientific studies.

Step 1 – Cut Back on Sugars and Starches
The most important part is to cut back on sugars and starches (carbs).

These are the foods that stimulate secretion of insulin the most. If you didn’t know already, insulin is the main fat storage hormone in the body.

When insulin goes down, fat has an easier time getting out of the fat stores and the body starts burning fats instead of carbs.

Another benefit of lowering insulin is that your kidneys shed excess sodium and water out of your body, which reduces bloat and unnecessary water weight (1, 2).

It is not uncommon to lose up to 10 pounds (sometimes more) in the first week of eating this way, both body fat and water weight.

This is a graph from a study comparing low-carb and low-fat diets in overweight/obese women (3).

When will I lose the body fat?

Hi. I am a 20 year old 5'10" male. I decided I was not comfortable in my skin at the weight I was (180lbs) so I began working out every single night for the past 1 month and 2 weeks. I also began to eat less and more healthy. After sticking to this I am now 168lbs and have noticed a pretty huge muscle difference, weightloss in the face, and a 'smaller' stomach.

My issue right now though is that while my stomach got smaller in size it feels like the same body fat (chest and stomach) is there, and looks kind of disproportionate to the rest of my body. I dont expect super quick results and either way I will continue this path because its a routine im happy with and thats working but does anybody have any idea how long it would take to get rid of the visible body fat on my chest and stomach?

Ever watched Gay porn?

Wonder if you ever watched gay porn? Saw it on those popunders and on porn sites that have mixed straight and gay vids. Don't really like it.

Did I actually lose any weight?

Yesterday I was at the fair and so a lot of junk food, however I did a lot of walking and according to MyFitness pal i did 22,000+ steps I would like to know if I lost any weight or if I gained any. Actually just if what I did cancelled out all the junk food. Yesterday I ate: ham and cheese omelette 3 slices of pizza, a corndog, and small cheese fries. It was also hot out and I did sweat a lot. I drank 7 bottles of water (not sure if that's relavent) I'm going to put some basic info to help you guys:
I'm:
5'11
248.8lbs
I'm 16 yrs old
Male. Please try to help, sorry it's so jumbled and stuff.

New - Tired of being overweight..

My name is Alex, I'm 31 Years old. 5' 10" Large frame

I have been overweight most of my life, I have for the past year been trying to lose weight with some success.

I have dropped from 260 pounds to 241 with just walking / jogging and major diet change but I have been stuck at 241 for 5 months now looking for any advise I can get.

I am a vegetarian (parent choice eating meat now makes me very sick).
Current diet:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, cup of Tea, slice of bread with little bit of peanut butter

Lunch: 170 cal Naked juice + 160 cal protein shake 30g or Black bean soup from Panera or veggie bowl from Chipotle

Dinner: lentil soup or stir fried veggies or plain mix veggies.

I have a full time desk job (sucks sitting all day), I use a rower for 10-15 minutes in the morning and lift weights 3 times a week.

Any advice to further my weight loss would help a lot, My goal is to drop to 190.

Thank You.

Not to make excuses but... I am convinced something is wrong with me.

I found this forum doing a Google search for Weight Loss experts. I am looking for someone who might have any ideas what's wrong with me, because I am convinced at this point that there must be a variable I am overlooking. I am WAY beyond little tips and tricks to shave a few calories off here and there. Here's a brief history of where I'm at.

I have always been the fat kid since I was born. In 5th grade I weighed 125 pounds. In high school I weighed 320 Pounds. I've now finally stabilized - For the last several years I hover at 455 to 465.

When I was in elementary school and middle school I ate like a fiend. If I ate now like I did then, I would understand why I have a problem. I was always hungry and it was insatiable. I don't remember when the change happened, sometime in high school, when I just wasn't that hungry anymore.

After I graduated college, and got my first real job, I decided it was time to do something better for myself. By this point, I hovered statically between 455 and 465. The problem is, nothing I do changes this - either down OR up. Here's what I've tried.
  • In 2010 I used to drink sugared sodas. I drank them, but I didn't subsist entirely on them like a lot of people. One can per day with dinner was it. Still, this was a lot of sugar, so I cut it out. I switched to diet soda, because I still like the taste, and crystal light when I wanted something with flavor. I cut about 250 calories per day from my diet. I lost 0 pounds.
  • I also used to really love the frozen sodas at 7-11. I drank at least one a week, usually more. The big one has 325 calories, so I cut out at least 700 calories from my diet on an average week. I lost 0 pounds.
  • I used to swing by the convenience store on the way home a few times a week and get a couple chocolate bars or a medium sized bag of chips. That's between 500 and 1200 calories a few times a week - say 2900 calories per week - that I cut out of my diet. I lost 0 pounds.
  • I cut out desserts and snacks during the day. I lost 0 pounds.

Just to be clear, when I say I cut things out, that doesn't mean I haven't had a snack or a piece of cake or a chocolate bar in 6 years. But these went from weekly, almost daily intakes to once or twice per month.

Some of you will say I'm just making excuses for myself. That I live in denial. "Stop eating your feelings (which I don't do), eat less, move around more." That's one thing about me... I HATE denial. Despise it. I'm an analytical guy, a very logical thinker. So I decided to put numbers to everything. Numbers don't lie, right?

I calculated my BMR. Currently, at 5' 10", 28 years old, and male, my BMR Is 3661.55 Calories per day. Slap the Harris-Benedict Equation on there, and my maintenance Calorie level is 4408 Calories per day.

I decided my calorie usage must be lower than that number by far, so I decided to track it. I still lost 0 pounds, but all of this has been about tracking and baselines, not making any changes. Nonetheless, the data surprises me.
  • In September 2014, I got a Fitbit Flex. Over 151 days, my average calorie usage was 4107.86 Calories per day - a little under the estimate from the equations.
  • In early February 2015, I switched to the Fitbit that tracks my heart rate. Over 189 days I averaged a usage of 5105.19 Calories per day. Presumably this is measured far more accurately.

Now I knew how many calories I burned, I started tracking my food, because that's all that's left of the equation, right? I downloaded MyFitnessPal's app and I tracked every single bite for 78 days. That's all that it can be, right? I must be eating a shitload of calories and somehow I just don't know it.

My average caloric intake per day was 2940.43 Calories. Below my energy expendature. Below my BMR! Only slightly more than a normal man my age eats and needs. I cook my own meals, usually pork, chicken, or beef, and a side dish, often rice or pasta. So it really pisses me off to have a body like a Biggest Loser contestant, people who get interviewed and say they go to McDonald's every single day and get two supersized meals with milkshakes for lunch, and to be bigger than they are.

Now I know it's easy to misjudge your calories even when you're recording them, but by 2164.76 calories per day? It's impossible! I would have to eat double what I do without knowing it. Either that or eat a brick of pure lard every single day.

In fact, you know what? Let's forget averages entirely and work with raw numbers. During the exact period of time I was tracking my food, Feb 23 2015 to 11 May 2015, I consumed 229,354 Calories. But I burned 429,117.
That's a defecit of 199,763 Calories, or 57.07 pounds I should have lost. I have lost 0.

Here are some other things that I think are odd about myself.
  1. I don't get hungry. I don't eat breakfast most days because I wake up, and I am not hungry. Around noon, my stomach starts grumbling, but if I don't take a lunch break immediately, the hunger passes, and I can easily work through it, especially if I am busy. It is not uncommon for me to eat only once a day, at dinner time, because I wasn't hungry any other time.
  2. Just because I don't eat like a fiend, doesn't mean I can't. When I am eating, I stop because I've finished what I allow myself, not because I feel satisfied or full. If I eat until I am full, I will never stop eating. Seriously, if I decide to not care for a weekend and get a thing of Oreos, I can eat the whole thing in one sitting.
  3. After the 78 days of tracking my meals and losing 0 pounds, I got very discouraged with the whole thing. I stopped caring. I went to McDonald's for breakfast, I drank coffee drinks with whipped cream in domed lids and chocolate shavings, I snacked, I drank sugared soda. I did everything I hadn't done for years, not because I wanted to, or had a craving for any of that crap, but because I didn't care. Screw it, I'm gonna be fat forever, it may as well taste good as I plummet towards my demise. I did this for a few weeks. I GAINED 0 pounds. Take care with what I eat or not, it makes no difference. I NEVER GAIN and I NEVER LOSE.

Medical History:

Both my parents are diabetic, but I am not. A doctor back in college told me he suspected insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. He said "You can't eat yourself into this kind of situation" and based on the data, I am inclined to agree with him.

I have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and advised to use a CPAP machine, but I could never get used to it. But I am not tired during the day, ever. I wake up before my alarm. I sleep 7 hours a night and when I wake up, I am fully refreshed, to the point that I can lay there and lay there but cannot fall back to sleep. I am fully rested and incapable of sleeping anymore. Most afternoons my eyes feel heavy and droopy around 2 PM for an hour to an hour and a half, then I am wide awake again. Even then, that's only if work is dragging by with not much to do. If I am engaged in a task, I don't even get drowsy. I never get tired at the end of the day. I can go until 2 or 3 in the morning before I feel tired. I outlast all my coworkers in the office and my friends outside of work. According to my issues, I should be exhausted, but I never am.

In short, I don't FEEL like a fat guy. I don't feel sick, or tired, or run down. Everything about me seems odd. Weight should be melting off me like wax melts off a candle but it doesn't, which either means I am burning radically fewer calories than the equations and the technology say I am, or there's something else I don't know about.

So have I ever succeeded in losing any weight? Yes. There is one thing I can do. If I go several days eating next to nothing (800 calories or less) per day, then I will drop some weight. I can shed 15-20 pounds in a few weeks if I keep this up. Resume normal patterns and I come back up to 455-465. Should I really have to resort to such a radical step to see any results whatsoever?

I have attached my fitbit data and food log for anyone who wants to take a look and see if they have any suggestions. At this point I am worried that a surgery which my insurance does not cover and which I cannot afford is my only option other than early death.

Has anyone ever had a similar experience, or heard of anyone who has?

Question about profile picture

Hello all!
Was just curious if there was a way to retrieve the original file used as a profile picture. I had used my photo some time ago and have since lost it. I am very happy with my progress and that picture for it symbolizes the day I hit my goal weight. I was wondering if there was anyway to tinker with the URL and get the full original photo used upon uploading.

Thanks!

60 Pound Fat Loss Review

Green Smoothie Inspiration: Andrea Fredrick – Lithonia, Georgia
I originally started drinking green smoothies in early January 2012, because I noticed I had a lack of energy and I wanted to lose weight. Since then, I have lost 60 pounds. I am maintaining my weight loss, and my goal is to lose 25 more pounds.

Andrea - Green Smoothie Inspiration
Green smoothies have given me a lot of energy. Before I started drinking green smoothies, I didn’t want to walk even one mile. Now, I’m able to walk five miles and I run up to two miles every day. I love green smoothies!

Every day I drink three green smoothies, each in an eight ounce glass. This is my typical smoothie recipe:

– 1 banana
– 1 cup of strawberries
– 1 carrot
– 1 tablespoon of flax seed
– 1 tablespoon of chia seed
– 1 cup of spinach
– 6 ounces of yogurt

My family has noticed my weight loss and how green smoothies have helped me, and have they have started to drink green smoothies too!

I'm new to this

Hello
I would like to ask a few questions and i would really appreciate anyone's help and support
I'm a female and in the past 4 years I've lost and gained weight more times than i can count, ranging between 10-20 kgs
I've tried dieting with a registered dietitian, it was successful, i lost 15 kg (75->60) I'm aprox. 169cm (also big boned)
but i was starving in the diet and everything wasn't allowed
and i started exercising as soon i reached my goal. I had a few problems regarding my tension headache/migraine so i stopped.
I have an eating disorder, i eat when stressed, happy, sad, all kinds of occasions, and it fulfills me.
So after that i gained around 8 kgs
and then i hopped back to 75
then i did the atkins which was successful (btw i hate meat/poultry..) so it was difficult
i gained the weight that i lost just as fast. but this time i reached 80 kgs
so i went to another registered dietitian and i lost weight till 70 this time with less starvation

but the trouble is my daily scheduleis unstable and irregular, most days im not home, between university and irregular jobs i cant carry food with me.

now recently i'm 73 kgs (more or less)
and ive started exercising at the gym
and i still eat irregularly (morning around 120 g of random cornflakes at 10 a.m) then i go to the gym around 5pm (3-4 times a week), and around 6pm lunch, and i get real hungry at around 11 pm leading me to eat something heavy (i sleep around 2am)

so i dont know if exercise is enough especially for someone who's been through the yoyo effect
i dont know if at the gym, treadmilling at speed 6km/h for 20-25 minutes then bicycling for 20 mins then leg weight lifting, squats, lunges... etc is enough
i do a total of 1.5-2 hrs

if i will lose weight on the long run or just gain muscle and keep the fat

i would like to understand how the body works when it comes to fat burning
and i would like to keep eating regularly because it doesn't add the extra stress in my life...
i'm a very moody person when it comes to food i might like something one day and cant stand it the other

im so sorry for the long post and i do hope someone is willing to give me their time just to brief me on what to do...

Regards,
A person who desperately wants to be fit, healthy and strong (also a regular sized person)

1300 calories and no weight loss

Hey all. I'm an 19 year old male, 2 metres or about 6 foot 7 tall, and about 300 pounds right now. I've been trying to lose weight for the past 4 months.

I've been tracking every food I eat through the samsung health app, limiting it at about 1300 calories per day with foods like rocket, carrots, celery, tuna, tofu, etc. I've eaten no meat other than fish for the past 4 months.

I've been visiting the gym every day with about half an hour jogging on the treadmill followed by weight training every day.

Problem is, I've barely lost 3 kilos (6 pounds) in 6 months of doing this diet. I have no problems with continuing it as I've gotten used to it by now, but I was just wondering if with my current diet and exercise, is a ratio of 4 months/6 pounds normal? Or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated too.

Consuming Coconut Oil for weight loss.

I've read some people use coconut oil to aid in weight loss. Does it work or is it a myth?

Reduced 35 pounds in 115 days and still reducing but need a bit help

Hello fellows,

I am 18 years old boy and used to weigh 219 pounds. Now after reducing weight i weigh 184 pounds. My height is more than 6 foot but less than 6 foot and 1 inch. I reduced 35 pounds in just 3 and a half month. Fat have reduced a lot in my body from top to bottom. Now i don't fit in my previous shirts and trousers all have gone loose. I reduced weight by going to gym for 2 months and doing walking since starting my weight loss journey. I daily walk 8 kms early in the morning. My daily calorie intake is 15-1600 on average.

I have two questions:-

1.) I had a black ring on my neck and I read on internet that it will fade away after i reach my ideal weight so whenever i reach the ideal weight it will automatically fade away or not?

2.) At 6 foot height I weigh about 184 pounds but still i have body fat. My belly is not flat it is still 1 inch more then what I wanted. Everyone can easily spot fat in my belly. Not only fat is in my belly but in my face, chest and hips also. Fat has reduced a lot and i wanna know that how much more weight shall i reduce to lose this extra fat.

Kate's new diary. Even fatter and more depressed.

Hello everyone.

My name is Kate and this has got to be like the 10th time I have attempted to do a diary. My first attempt 4 years ago resulted in a weight loss of 50lb, a fitness level that made it possible for me to run a half marathon and a happy, more confident, less self-conscious person but now I have gained it all and more and I truly hate myself. I'm really disgusted with myself. I don't go out if possible and I just sit at home and ram whatever bad food I can into my face cos in my head I don't deserve to be slim. I have had a weight problem since I was 11 (42 now) and 4 years ago was the first and only time in my life where I wouldn't had considered myself fat and I blew it. I can't bring myself to go back to the gym cos I know that they will judge me. I have tried running again but have to run where no-one can see me (I was laughed at by two guys some weeks back and it totally floored me) I can do about 30 mins but I'm way slower than I was.

I am trying everything. I go to a weight loss club but in 9 months I have lost about 8lb!! I just keep going up and down a few lb each week. I have a fitbit and am great for a week and then don't give a shit for a while. I have a star chat with really cool stickers to try and inspire me but give up on that after a few days too. I am the typical 'i'll start tomorrow' person.

I think I need to do this with baby steps so my only aim this week is to post on here every single day..........NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

I have just weighed and measured myself

Weight; 226.5lb
Measurements:-
Neck; 37cm
Boobs; 120cm
Arm; 36.5cm
Waist; 104cm
Hips; 125.5cm
Thigh; 70.5cm
Calf; 44.5cm

COME ON KATE, YOU CAN DO THIS :)

Hello

Hi I am new to this forums and I really want to lose weight. I am a male, I'm 18, and I weight 240. :S I'er vve never eaten meat or vegetables so I've mostly lives on carbs because I'm picky plus I have aspergers. I've overcome a *massive* amount of my disability, and I want to be skinny and attractive.

I've never eaten meat before and I don't want to...but I'm sick of being fat. I want to be skinny, normal, and fit in!

I was following an eBook I found online about an edge of starvation diet. I can't keep up with it because I'm always hungry.

I have a lot of trouble with how I view myself and self-esteem and I want to change that.

I want to lose weight and I'm at the point where I just want to get weight loss surgery but I can't even get that because it costs too much money. The way I figured it would be successful because they talk about shrinking your stomach so you're not as hungry...

Any advice would be appreciated and I want to change my life!

Thanks so much,
- Gabriel

New Mummy - Need to get healthy for my little girl

Hi everyone,

Firstly I will tell you all a little about me.

I'm 34 and have been overweight my whole life. At my heaviest I was 18stone 7lbs and managed to get to 14stone. I piled all the weight back on and then lost a bit taking me to 15stone 10lbs. This was last year and then I fell pregnant. I now have an absolutely gorgeous 6week old girl but my eating habits are so so so bad. I eat huge family size bars of chocolate packets of biscuits sweets - you name it Im eating it.

Why am I here!
* I need support. As I'm on maternity leave and on statutory pay so joining classes is not an option.
* I want to break my bad habits before my little girl is of an age where she starts to show an interest in food
* Id love to return to work after mat leave 4stone lighter and just looking great
* I hate looking at myself in the mirror - I look awful

I'm not really sure what plan to follow or if I'll even get proper time to eat looking after a demanding 6wk old.

I'm really nice and friendly and cant wait to start making friends and chatting to some of you lovely people x

I weigh 185lbs right now and I would like to weigh 156lbs. I want this weight loss to fit in with my busy life and be sustainable.

Looking to share the weight loss journey

I've been slowly changing my habits and have lost about 5lbs. My second child is now 3.5 so I'm ready to make my health a priority. I am a bit obsessed and do not have any friends that would be willing to discuss weight loss at length. So I thought I'd find some people who would!

Today you have a lot of plattforms to build your blog/diary. Try it and you will see that will help you.

From 3,500 calories to 1,500...

Hello Folks,

I am 27 years old and in need of some serious weight loss. When I look back, I'm not even sure how I got here, but I'm finally prioritizing fixing it, so there's that. For most of my life I was thin, athletic, and sometimes underweight. Somewhere around 14-15 years old I started to pack on the pounds out of nowhere. I think I always ate a lot, but was extremely active, and my activity level dropped around that age and bad habits finally caught up to me. Anywho, I'm 73 inches tall and by the time I turned 18 I was around 300 pounds. Got diagnosed with diabetes at 18 and decided to get serious about my weight. I went on the south beach diet for about six months because I thought it was a great way to limit calories and a good plan for someone with diabetes. I also exercised every day by going on multiple mile walks. In six months I was down to around 220 pounds. Around a year later I got busier and stopped paying as much attention to my diet, went off the south beach diet, stopped keeping track of calories, and crept back up to just under 270, where I have sat ever since.

I met my beautiful wife just over 5 years ago. She has since put on 80 pounds. Some of it was due to pregnancy, but I figure that my eating habits transferring over to her accounts for about half that weight. It's not so much that I eat insanely unhealthy food, we actually raise or grow a lot of what we eat right on our farm, I just tend to eat more than I should, especially when I am stressed out. We're both at a point where we finally feel like enough is enough and that our stress levels are down enough that we can start taking a more healthy approach to eating, so I guess you could say this will be a joint effort.

We started a 1,500 calorie diet a week ago. I decided that I don't personally want to attempt a low carb diet again, so we've decided to essentially eat whatever we want to eat, but balance it out so that the portions remain within the 1,500 calorie range. Something I've learned about myself over the years is that I sort of eat on a routine. What I mean is that I generally eat the same few meals over and over and just recycle them throughout the month. In that sense, I'm not someone who really cares about variety. So, my approach to this diet so far has been something like this:

Breakfast: 2 eggs [produced on our farm], 1/2 a serving of oatmeal with 1 tsp of brown sugar and cinnamon, and a fruit OR a glass of whole milk [both produced on our farm].

Lunch: Peanut butter and jelly [produced on our farm] sandwich and carrots w/ hummus.

Dinner: One serving of meat and a small greek salad.

In terms of exercise, we've just done our normal farm chores, although we did go on a 5 mile walk today.

In a week, I lost 6 pounds and my wife lost 8. Remarkably, I'm not feeling any serious cravings or anything yet, which is a change from past weight loss attempts. I'm aiming to ultimately weigh 200 pounds.

I guess what I am looking for is some feedback on what I am doing. Does it sound like I am on the right track? I know my diet plan could probably be better, but I know that if I cut out all unhealthy food [jelly, for instance] I'll definitely crash and burn.
