please help me with my school project on obesity

Im a graduate student doing a research project for my Software Engineering class. The goal is to create a software product that increases happiness for patients with a chronic medical condition. My team and I are conducting a short survey to gather data about the happiness levels of Obesity patients. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us by filling out our online survey.

My team and I chose Obesity as our topic, because we believe it is a serious illness that deserves more positive attention in our community. There is a common misconception that obesity is solely caused by lifestyle choice, and it is easily curable by a change in diet and exercise. We believe this misconception is unfair, and it causes undue added stress to the many patients that are suffering from this disease.

Using the results of our online survey, we hope to be able to collect information that will give us a glimpse of what it is like to be combating Obesity.

The questionnaire is about 30 questions in length. It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The data collection is done anonymously. No personal data will be collected. As an added incentive to take the survey, you may submit your e-mail address to participate in a raffle drawing that we're holding for a $10 Starbucks gift card and to receive results from our survey when the study is completed. Your e-mail address is not required to take the survey.

Please let me know if you have questions regarding our study.

Here's the link to the survey:

Thank you very much for your participation.

Fitness Watches?

Hey! I don't know if this is the right section or not, but I didn't know where else to post it - so here it is! I've been thinking of getting myself a fitness watch, the kind that can count your steps and tell how active you are throughout the day, reminds you if you're 'slow', etc. I was just wondering if anyone has purchased/uses one, and if so, what brands would you recommend? The only one I can think of that comes to mind is the Fitbit, but if anyone has some personal experience with any brand or type, your input would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for a super-pro one; just one decently priced, and one that gets the job done. I do have my phone set with alarms for activity, but there are certain times (i.e. school and work) when its not appropriate to bring out and check, which is why I think one of these watches would be better.

Anyway, if you can help out with your opinions, I'd love to hear it! :)

Revisional Surgery

StomaphyX is a device designed to assist in the process of weight loss. The procedure to insert the StomaphyX mechanism is the first FDA approved non-invasive bariatric surgery treatment. No incisions are made during the StomaphyX insertion process and there is no cutting or rerouting of the digestive system. Because there are no permanent alterations or invasive measures, the recovery time is faster than with open or laparoscopic weight loss proceduresperformed in Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC and throughout the U.S.

Without the need for abdominal or internal surgical incisions, the StomaphyX device allows a reduction in the size of the stomach to occur. Using a fiberoptic gastroscope or endoscope, the esophagus and stomach are easily accessed. The StomaphyX appliance is lowered through the mouth then down the esophagus and into the stomach pouch with the presence of the endoscope allowing for greater visibility. Once inside the stomach pouch, the StomaphyX tool pleats and staples the stomach making the pouch smaller. The pouch is reduced in size and made less flexible, resulting in slower emptying of the stomach, restriction of food intake and a faster relay of the message of satiety to the body.

This revolutionary procedure is now available from our weight loss surgeons serving Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia. The StomaphyX insertion procedure attracts those wanting an alternative to invasive surgical methods. It may further benefit previous bariatric surgery patients seeking additional weight loss and food intake restrictions, as well as those experiencing complications brought on by previous procedures.

Although gastric bypass surgery is successful in achieving an average of 60 to 80% excess weight loss, some patients may experience weight regain or desire additional restriction to help continue their loss of excess weight. Without having to undergo additional traditional surgery, StomaphyX helps gastric bypass patients eat less and lose more weight. Because of its non-invasive nature, it preserves future treatment options and in most cases, is performed on an outpatient basis. It is an essentially painless form of bariatric surgery offering the freedom of future adjustments and/or revisement.

Please contact Bluepoint Surgical Group to schedule a consultation, or if you would like more information on Stomaphyx.

da Vinci Robotic Surgery

The da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System is an innovative new way of performing gastric bypass surgery with minimal incisions, leading to less scarring and recovery time from weight loss procedures. With da Vinci®, one of our bariatric surgeons at the BluePoint Group uses computer and robotic technology to perform procedures. The system has been shown to have a number of advantages over traditional surgery techniques, even improving upon laparoscopic methods by giving our bariatric weight loss surgeons at the BluePoint Group an enhanced visualization of the surgical field and patients less pain and a quicker recovery. For more information on da Vinci® Robotic Surgery for weight loss from our Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia-area bariatric surgeons, please contact the BluePoint Group.

The da Vinci® Surgical System uses 3-D technology to give the surgeon a more accurate view of the operative area. The surgeon views the area on a monitor with high-resolution images relayed through a high-definition 3-D camera, then performs the surgery with hand movements that are translated from wristed controls to robotic instruments that precisely carry out the doctor’s orders. The da Vinci® System can only work by direct input by the bariatric surgeon, and cannot be programmed to make its own decisions.

Da Vinci® is able to provide your surgeon with the control and precision of open surgery, but without the need for major incisions. In fact, doctors can perform surgery with da Vinci® by making incisions that are only 1 to 2 centimeters in length.

Advantages of the da Vinci® Surgical System

Not only is the da Vinci® Surgical System showing significant advantages over traditional surgery, but it is also improving upon laparoscopic techniques. Some of the benefits of da Vinci® can include:

Less risk of infection and blood loss

Less discomfort

More rapid recovery

Less scarring

Better visualization through high-definition, 3D imagery than traditional video with laparoscopy

More range of motion and better dexterity for the surgeon

Human tremor reduction, minimizing the risk of unintended movements by the surgeon

The da Vinci® Surgical System has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in gastric bypass procedures. It is designed with multiple safety features and has been used in thousands of minimally invasive surgeries.

REALIZE Band Weight Loss Surgery

REALIZE™ Band surgery is one of the most recent, and most effective, weight loss surgery procedures available at our Washington, DC and Northern Virginia-area practice. REALIZE™ Band is a reversible bariatric procedure designed to limit your intake of food and result in significant weight loss. Our bariatric weight loss surgeons can meet with you for a REALIZE™ Band consultation right here at Bluepoint Surgical Group. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.

REALIZE™ Band

The REALIZE™ Band has been approved for use in surgical weight loss procedures by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The procedure is designed to help patients who are considered morbidly obese, typically those who are about 100 pounds overweight and have a body mass index (BMI) over 35. By creating a smaller stomach chamber with which to store food, the REALIZE™ Band allows the patient to feel full much earlier than usual. Patients can lose up to one to two pounds per week with REALIZE™ Band, leading to significant weight loss and less risk of developing life-threatening illnesses that can be brought on by morbid obesity. Plus, the REALIZE™ Band is minimally invasive and involves less post-operative discomfort and recovery time than other forms of weight loss surgery. The REALIZE™ Band can also be adjusted over time to allow for more or less food intake.

Surgery to Loss 20-50 Pounds

A new surgical weight-loss procedure is now available to women who are looking to slim down and lose 25 to 70 pounds.

Dr. Tom Lavin, founder of Surgical Specialists in Louisiana, is a pioneer behind the hottest new weight-loss procedure called POSE, which stands for primary obesity surgery endoluminol.

“POSE is for patients who want to lose 25-50, maybe 60 or 70 pounds,” says Lavin. “It’s a much different group of people than we normally approach for bariatric surgery.”

POSE is like the classic bypass operation, but there are no incisions, as everything is done through the mouth using an endoscope. The surgical tools make the stomach about 30 percent smaller, says Lavin, and the patient typically goes home the same day.

Krystal Townsend, 34, had struggled with her weight most of her life and was not happy with who she was. She weighed 229 pounds before she paid a visit to Lavin. After POSE, she says, she has a new lease on life.

The key to Weightloss

Everyone and every"body" is different. The key to losing weight is giving your body what it's asking for and what it need in a healthy and modest way. Over-exercising and starving yourself should never be an option to losing weight.

Here is a safe option especially for women:

You may need to copy/paste link in your address bar

<a href="http://ift.tt/1sG713t; target="_top">Click Here!</a>

One of many reasons why diets are bad.

Your fat cells increase

When you reduce your calorie intake, your body will go into starvation mode; there will be biochemical and physiological changes that will slow down your metabolism in response to a lack of food.

When these changes happen, your weight loss will decrease, this will lead to the person on the diet reducing their calories even more, which will make the situation even worse.

Once the person has lost some weight and stopped the diet, they will start to increase their calories again, but because the body has been in starvation mode its response has not quite finished.

The body will adapt itself in case of another period of starvation; it will produce more fat cells in the body to hold onto more fat.

The average person has 20 to 27 billion (yes billion) fat cells; an overweight person can have between 75-300 billion fat cells.

Once you have fat cells, you will always have them, during fat loss your fat cells shrink, they do not disappear.

This why diets do not work, the more times you diet, the more fat cells your body will produce, and the more weight you will gain.

Cant get round to trying to lose weight

Hi I know this may sound stupid to everyone and you may say I dont want it enough but I do, I really do

I'm 18 in less than two months and I've been overweight since about the age of 11 and It wasn't so much of an issue back then but once you're around my age you want to look as appealing as you can to the opposite sex and also for yourself etc, I'm deeply into my fashion and own a lot of clothes but I'm feeling as if I cant pull off the look I want to anymore I weigh at about 15.8 stone which may be around 99Kg I'm not sure about lb I'm still confident in my self and can easily talk to women but I'm getting stretch marks and I can see my attractiveness degrading fast, the fact that I can still function and talk to women atm may be the reason why I cant find the motivation to lose weight since I'm still not at the lowest point of my life but I know if I carry on Its going to be impossible to lose weight and I dont want to let it get that far I really want to but I cant find the motivation to not eat that box of chips or those chocolate bars or fizzy drinks

This may sound a bit shallow and I apologize but really I'm just a young guy looking for some support

Thanks kindly - Sam

Virus Warnings

Everytime I try logging in, my antivirus software goes haywire. I'm using Norton on one computer and Avast on another and both programs keep telling me that they're blocking a web attack from this forum. Not sure what's going on. Anyone else having this problem?

High intensity aerobics

High intensity aerobics is more beneficial than steady state cardio. Try doing 30 seconds of all-out effort, followed by 80 seconds of rest for 10 intervals, that adds up to only 5 minutes of actual exertion, but you will burn more calories, improve your aerobic capacity and your metabolic rate will stay higher for much longer.

Hello to everyone

Hi I'm Paul, I am a successful lifestyle and fitness coach with 20 years experience under my belt. I have transformed hundreds of lives and helped all of my clients reach their fitness and weight loss goals. I am also an instructor on Udemy where I have produced a great course to help people lose weight it's called Fat Loss Masterclass.

My passion is to help as many people as I can, this is why I have joined this forum.

In my early life I struggled with my weight, I tried diet after diet to shed the pounds, but like everybody else that has tried diets my weight increased and left me worse of then when I started. Rather than give up, I studied nutrition, exercise and how the body reacts to losing weight, I gained a lot of knowledge which I have passed onto many people with great success.

I will try to help as many people as I can on this forum and who knows even make a few friends on the way.

I'm new, here is my personal story

Hi everyone,

I am 27 years old and I've been struggling with depression for a long time. The day I broke down in tears at work was when I realized I needed help. I've been off work since February 2013 and since then, I have tried different medications to try to get my mood and energy back, without any success. In July 2014, I was introduced to the Isagenix products which is a nutritional cleansing system composed of SuperFoods. Along with my nutritional system, I researched for personal trainers in my area. I was successful in finding a personal trainer that had her own studio and wasn't too far from my place. The studio was perfect because it was going to be one on one sessions without anyone watching me. When you are depressed, you don't feel like seeing anyone you know or you don't want to feel watched, in other words you are self-conscious about everything and have low self-esteem. So after 3 months of being on both Isagenix and working out with my personal trainer, I was proud to say that I've lost 17 pounds and 21 inches! Wow, did that ever bring my self-esteem up! I still use the Isagenix products because of the way I feel and the energy; I've also started working out in a gym without a personal trainer. I truly think that if I was able to do it, anyone can lose weight and regain some confidence in themselves.

If you want more information on Isagenix, feel free to ask!

Please share your stories because I would love to hear them! :)

Lisege's diary

Howdy all,

I recently went back to weight watchers after losing 40 pounds 11 years ago and gaining it back plus more - why not?

The reason I went back to WW is that after one year as a raw food vegan, I didn't lose ANY weight and after 14 months of low carb high fat didn't help me to lose weight either. I've only gained when I jumped off the wagon on October 9th. The only program that has ever worked for me is WW.

I am doing it differently though. I am using my points to eat whole foods. Nothing diet or fat-free will go past these lips. I have 29 daily points and will be using them towards regular foods like butter, cream in my coffee, whole eggs, etc... I'm just going to stay grain free and sugar free like I have been for the last 14 months.

I am at my heaviest weight now of 193.6 lbs. My BMI is 27.8. I am 5'10" tall. My chest is 44", my waist is 40.5" and my hips are 41". To say that I look 8 months pregnant would be an understatement. I would like to be 149 lbs by my 50th birthday next September.

Interestingly, I have 8 points left to eat today and this is after having had 2 coffees with cream, all of my daily food and my splurge today was a Tim Horton's peanut butter cookie.

I will be weighing in only once a month, but taking my measurements weekly and attending the weekly meetings.

Looking forward to posting updates and progress.

Pick Your Poison Challenge For November

I need help in getting back on track so I figured starting a challenge where we can address our weaknesses might be of some help. So, here are the rules. Pick two of things you're really struggling with, set a goal for yourself, and reward yourself with one point for each day you reach your goal. They don't both have to be diet and exercise related, but to keep it fair I think at least one of them should be. To keep in line with weight loss, set yourself a weight loss goal and reward yourself an additional point for reaching it.

This challenge will start on Sat, 11/1/14 and go throughout the month. I hope some of you will consider joining me. I don't want to do this alone, but I will if need be. :)

Weakness Goal #1: I've really been struggling to get up early to workout. In the past couple of months, I've gotten it done twice. So that's my main weakness. I need to start getting up early consistantly to get my workout in.

Weakness Goal #2: A HUGE part of my problem is that I'm spending entirely WAY to much time on Facebook. I now own two groups of my own and help to run a third. I'm finding that I spend most of my nights online which obviously is not good for me and it's equally not good for my dogs. I need to find a balance. My goal here is to spend at least an hour of every night shut off from Facebook to focus on my dogs. They need and deserve my time more than Facebook does.

Weightloss Goal: To be determined when I weigh in on Saturday morning.

MrVee's Exercise Resource Thread

This is just going to be an introductory post. I'm about 28 months in and have lost close to 200 pounds with a heavy emphasis on exercise. I've spent a lot of time researching the best ways to accomplish my goals, so I figured I'd post a bunch of stuff I learned, resources and things of that nature. I can't vouch for the accuracy of everything I post, but I will link to everything so you can make up your own mind.

Some helpful workout items to start:

  • Cross training shoes, preferably newish. It really is important to have a solid base underneath you.

  • A heart rate monitor. A lot of info I post will be usable with one of these. You don't _have_ to have one but they are neat.

  • A workout notebook. Particularly if you're going to resistance train it helps to track how much you're lifting and how many reps.

  • If you go to a gym, obviously a gym bag and a lock of some sort would be good, as would a clean towel.

  • It seems ridiculous to have to mention this, but ALWAYS wear athletic socks underneath your shoes.

  • Some sort of pain relief/anti-inflammatory item. Whether it's aspirin or ibuprofen or Tylenol or something more natural, if things start to ache and swell, this stuff can help.

  • Finally whether at the gym or not, you need to wear appropriate workout clothes to maximize what you get out of your workout. You don't have to go crazy with compression wear or all sorts of high tech stuff, but wear things that are comfortable to move around in. For guys: shorts and t-shirts/tank tops/tunics work just fine. Women probably know better than I would what to wear to keep everything in place and reduce discomfort, so do so.

More to come.

Is it possible that I could lose 2 stone by Dec 23rd?

Is it possible to lose 2 stone by Dec 23rd if i eat 1200-1400 cals a day and exercise about 4 times a week? I currently weigh 228 pounds and would like to weigh 200 pounds by Dec 23rd

Or do i need to exercise more to get to this goal?

700 calories a day?

I eat 700 cals a day and exercise every day but lately I have no energy. I'm a vegetarian and I cut out all junk food I only drink water and tea and I don't include salt in my diet whatsoever. In addition to that I don't drink coffee but it's my addiction. I was wondering if I don't exercise anymore and I continue eating like I usually do 500-700 calories a day of oatmeal and a banana in the morning and the rest of the day I eat nothing but vegetables and minimal fruit but I make up the rest of the calories with my coffee, will I gain weight or stay the same, or maybe lose? It's really important to me that I don't gain weight but I don't have the motivation to exercise anymore. Please help answer this for me, thank you! I'm 5'4" and weigh around 110.

Ohhhhhhh for the love of all that is holy. I'm back *ashamed waving from behind mountain of pizza and wine*

Can't believe I've still not lost anything, after so many attempts. Utterly disappointing & I have no excuse.

I was here back in 2010 at the tender age of 20/21 and I lost 40lbs--taking me from a size 18 to a size 12. At my littlest I was still 170lbs but was getting into my size 12's and rocking a rather Amazonian height of 5'10. I did this with Weight Watchers and lots of gym time and I lost it in 5 months so at quite a speedy rate. I looked bangin'

Anyway, lost all that weight, left Weight Watchers because I was at target and left the forum here. Epic mistake. Put everything plus 10 pounds back on again and it's been a constant struggle ever since. Have posted here numerous times with renewed bursts of enthusiasm only to drop off the face of the planet.

I have some obstacles.

1. I like wine. A lot. I have up to a bottle an evening and by up to I mean at least. Which I'm aware is HORRIBLY bad for me. I love cooking and always open a bottle to have a glass whilst preparing my foods and then end up drinking it all. When I lost all the weight last time I was down to about a glass a day and this suited me fine. The slowing down on the booze usually comes naturally when I get into the swing of dieting.

2. I work insane hours and at very random times at my full-time job. I work at a Residential Children's Home for kids in care with behavioral problems. It's a lot of sitting and waiting though, in between bursts of random assaults and chaos! I work shifts between 7:30am-15:00 or 14:30-22:30. I eat my meals at work when I'm at work. I get no say in what I eat unless I make it myself which is hard when it's busy and people think I'm a bit weird for doing it.

3. I work at a Hospital part-time on top of my full-time job as a Health Care Support Worker. I'm saving for a house with my American Yank-faced partner and this apparently means saving a butt-ton of money. So on average I'm working around 55 hours a week every week. I don't drive so my commute is 45 mins each way at least. I'm not home very much at the moment!

4. I love cooking. But I love cooking mac and cheese, burgers topped with halloumi cheese, bacon and chicken salads with ranch, pesto pasta with black olives and smoked sausage and NOM NOM NOM NOM...Now I'm hungry.

5. On top of all that work I'm doing a Diploma in Health and Social Care so am working on that when I'm not working at work. WORKKKK.

So, lovely people of WLF. You helped me once--Now can you help me again?!

I'll be posting very honestly and focusing lots on how many steps I've walked because now I'm working at the hospital I seem to be doing a rather ridonkulous amount of steps on those shifts (25,000 in 8 hours!! I shit you not!)

I'm at about 220 right now.. I think. I'm not sure.... *goes to check* AHHHHHH 222lbs. Which is the fattest I've ever been. Tonight is unfortunately a bit of a write off due to the fact that I'm already part way through a bottle of wine (this is my first day off in 2 weeks...I've mostly sat and thought about whether buying a house is worth this exhausting lifestyle!!) but from tomorrow I will be a reformed character...She says, hopefully.

So here is my horrible food for the day! I must hold myself accountable so here goes! I'm hoping today will be so painfully hideous in terms of eating that I will feel so repulsed with myself and the fact I have put my food online, for all to see, that I might just stop being such a wine-guzzling, cheese eating piggy.

Breakfast: slept through

Lunch: 6 slices of bread (small slices? Yeah...but still..jeez..), (600) 3 slices of ham (105) and a big ol' grab of cheese (260) Toasted. In a machine. Delicious.

Dinner: Chicken Kiev (343) roasted new potatoes (120) savory rice (189)

Booooooze: Bottle of wine (630) sunflower seeds (175)

Total: 2422

I don't want to lose weight too fast?

Hi there. I'm new to this forum so I'm sorry if I've posted in the wrong place.

I'm 18 years old and I weight about 11 stone. I've been passionate about getting healthier

for ages now and I've been eating healthy but I would like to start exercising. The only problem is that

I'm not sure the best way to go about it and I don't want to do anything wrong. My main concern is losing

weight too fast and having a lot of lose skin because of it. I know that lose skin is pretty unavoidable but

I'd like to minimize it as much as possible.

why am i not losing weight

hello im a 17 year old, 6 foot, 18.9 inch wide male and i weigh 220 pounds. for the best several months ive been trying to lose weight and for the past several weeks ive been working out really hard. i calculated my bmr at 1900, the conservative estimate, and i have been burning more than 3500 calories a day. i eat around 1500 calories, most of it is from chicken, then a power bar, tomatoes, apples and thats really it. i then work out for several hours and i mainly use the elliptical, i use it until it says ive burned 3400 calories which is like 23.18 miles. im at a rpm of 80 for my average, 40 for my low and 120 for my high. i usually use my hands and im in a firm standing posture when working out. i then run for .2 miles at 8 miles an hour, run in place for a minute, lift some weights, do some much push ups and thats it. also i dont work out every day, but it doenst explain why im not losing weight. so i havent lost any weight, or if i have its been very little. whats the problem here, ive done everything i was supposed to and im not losing weight. i feel like i wasted all this time at the gym, im furious. i also want to know are there any drugs i can take, please dont lecture me on how bad that is just give me the name of the drug and risks and i can decide for my self, id like both legal and not legal drugs so over the counter and under the counter options. id like diet and exercise recommendations as well. my goal is to lose a pound a day if not more, im not starving my self because as ive said i consume 1500 calories a day, but i then work out a lot so i should be losing a pound a day.

need help/advice, thankyou

I've never been thin but over the last few years I seem to be slowly packing on the weight. I'm 5 foot 2 and about 72-73kgs now :( (22 years old female) here are some pictures http://ift.tt/1tn9xlw

I suffer from anxiety, bipolar and anemia which seems to of made things even worse. I was medicated but it was making things worse as well..Earlier in the year I was about 64kg but things unfortunately seemed to of spiraled out of control.

I don't eat overly unhealthy and I don't eat that much at all, I'm just quite inactive. I used to run a lot last year but I hurt my knee and now the patella seems to be permanently shifting and it makes doing much more than 1hr a day of walking pretty impossible.

I don't know what to do, I feel like my weight is out of control. It's quite depressing...I feel so fat and nasty and depressed :/

I think I will try to walk every day for about half an hour and eat some healthy soups and small cans of corn and beans as snacks (which I have already got). I want to be back under 70, eventually I want to be 60kg... so what do you guys think, any advice or help would be appreciated. Thank you :)

Hey :D

Alright, so where to begin...My whole life I've always been the "fat one"; however, that never really stopped me from anything until recently (when I hit about 18). At the time I was going to college and hanging out with friends like, mostly, everyone else my age. One day my grandmother had a stroke and that changed everything. I dropped out of college to take care of her and stopped hanging out with my friends so I could focus on working and just making sure she had what she needed. I'm now 21 and she's doing a lot better, but my waistline no so much. I've finally gotten fed up of being this way and I want to be healthier. I'm about 5'7 and weigh approx. 270. I'm hoping to get down to about 150 and see how things go when I get there. For now that's my long-term goal. For the short-term goal I would like to get down to 200. Yes, I know I'll still be big at that point, but you have to celebrate the small victories as well.

How I Lost 40 Pounds

Hey all (especially ladies over 35),

If you are struggling to drop weight I thought I'd write a quick post about how I finally started seeing results.

Down 37+ pounds and still going :)

STRUCTURE: I eat 3 meals a day, no snacking. It makes the food stuff really simple and that way I can get on with life. I don't eat foods that activate "craving". This is different for everyone...and (KEY)!!

SUPPORT: I got a private mentor to coach me each week AND had a group for accountability. You MUST have support if you're going to make changes.

SIMPLIFY: I cleared my schedule and got rid of any obligations that were not absolutely necessary. I decluttered my home and also made a list of anyone I had "bad feelings" towards....which leads creating space

SPACE: I did deep forgiveness work and cleared a lot of emotional space to heal the emotional eating aspect of my relationship with food.

Hope this helps someone

Jessica' s diary...a start to a new beginning.

I am 28 years old and a stay at home mom. I stand 5 foot 4 inches and weigh 240 pounds. My heaviest was after my second child was born. I weighed 286 pounds at the 6 week post partum visit. I would get winded just grocery shopping. That was 2010. Since then I've had one more child and managed to drop 46 pounds. Four of which I've lost in the past 3 weeks. I'm currently in a weight loss challenge group. The person who loses the biggest percentage wins the pot that stands at $800. Motivation!

My long term goal weight is 140 pounds. I realize it's going to be a long journey, but so worth it! I'm trying my hardest to make healthy eating a habit and I track my calories. That's what's working for me now. Someday I really want to run. Miles and miles I hope! That's another thing I look forward to :-)

Herbalife!! Looking for people that are interested in losing weight / gaining muscle

Hello all,

My name is Jacob and I am a distributor for the Herbalife products! I just want to state a couple of facts before I begin talking about this amazing opportunity, and these facts are: Herbalife DOES NOT make you lose weight and Herbalife is NOT a pyramid scheme.

Okay, now that I got that out there I want to begin talking about what exactly Herbalife is. Herbalife is a multi-level marketing system, meaning that even if you recruit people to become distributors you aren't making ANY money just off of recruiting other distributors. You have to work hard in this business to make a profit.

Now, what will Herbalife do for you? The way Herbalife gives your body the nutrition it needs is by substituting two meals (Breakfast + lunch / Lunch + dinner / whatever meal you decide to substitute) with a shake that has all the nutrients your body needs. I started the Herbalife24 Fitness program about 3 weeks ago and I not only feel but look better! I will be doing my wellness evaluation at the end of the month to see just how much has changed since I started!

What I want to point out is that this is supposed to help you get closer to your goal. I weighed 300 pounds and when I did my last evaluation 3 weeks ago I weighed 260 pounds. I lost that weight without Herbalife. I am now getting even better results since my body is getting what it wants - Nutrition!

Herbalife has a couple of different focused programs for different types of people. There is a weightloss program designed to help shred off the fat so that you can move forward and get the body that you are working so hard for! There is a program designed for people that want to shred the rest of their body fat to build lean muscle! It's called Herbalife24! There is also a program for people that if you don't need to lose weight or anything and just want nutrition, we have products for targeted nutrition! Also for people that want boosts in their energy! Herbalife is designed to give the body the nutrition it needs to support your active lifestyle! I want to change people's lives and what better way than watching them transform their lives to a better and healthier lifestyle!

Also, there is another side to Herbalife and that is the business side! If you want to join the business you start off with a 25% discount on the products and can only move up from there! Just remember you can't join and automatically make money. You have to WORK HARD! I hope that some of you are willing to take on this life changing journey and work with me!

If you're interested just message me and I will talk to you more about it!

Thanks for your time,

Jacob

It def. cuts down on the cravings but I think its good to drink plenty of water because its a little harsh on the stomach. I lost over 20 pounds with it. My advice: Eat a little snack before taking it so it doesn't hurt the stomach. Its really best supplement i have seen ever.

Garcinia Cambogia is the Newest, Fastest Fat-Buster- Dr. reveals garcinia cambogia is an exciting breakthrough in natural weight-loss, and this dual-action fat-burner can help people double and triple their weight loss. Garcinia cambogia, also known as tamarind, is a fruit that grows in Southeast Asia. Manufacturers claim that it boosts weight loss by, among other things, "slowing the body's ability to absorb fat," "replacing fat with toned muscles," and even improving your mood and suppressing "the drive to react to stressful situations with food." How, you may ask? It's mostly pinned on hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a substance found in garcinia cambogia that appears to inhibit an enzyme called citrate lyase and interferes with fatty acid metabolism. Garcinia Cambogia appears to be safe. There are no serious side effects, only some reports of mild digestive issues.

While the preliminary studies are promising, further larger studies need to be done to definitively give us the information we still need such as whether it is safe to take daily indefinitely or if six months is just as safe as three months. While people have been consuming the fruit for centuries, the extract form with the higher HCA still needs to be studied in larger studies and also with longer durations.

World best supplement for weight loss!!

Garcinia cambogia, a tropical fruit also known as the Malabar tamarind, is a popular weight-loss supplement. People say it blocks your body's ability to make fat and it puts the brakes on your appetite. It could help keep blood sugar and cholesterol levels in check, too. You'll find it in bottles on the shelf at the store as well as mixed with other ingredients in diet products. The active ingredient in the fruit's rind, hydroxycitric acid, or HCA, has boosted fat-burning and cut back appetite in studies. It appears to block an enzyme called citrate lyase, which your body uses to make fat. It also raises levels of the brain chemical serotonin, which may make you feel less hungry. When in doubt as to whether you should be taking this supplement, always check with your physician. While I am not in favor of taking this supplement with other weight loss supplements due to lack of data for safety, I hope that with the growing public interest that more studies on safety and usage will be done on a larger scale for this promising supplement.Get Free Trial Garcinia Cambogia! I decided to lose weight at the start of last year and I haven't given up yeet… I lost 14kg (30.86 pounds). How I did that? I basically stopped eating junk food and drinking soda. I started to eat more healthy: fruit, a lot of water, nuts, proteins (chicken, tuna), protein shake… I also started to exercise every day but every day I visit something else (fitness, zumba, TNZ ( T=stomach N=legs Z=ass.), body attack…) I realy love to exercise now. I wanted to lost the fat on my stomach and make it flat and lift my ass ;D.. Sooo my goal is to lose all belly fat, so I'll do more high intensity trainings.

I'm looking forward to getting know friends around here cause I definitely know that I will need the moral support. And mostly learn to speak better English. (I apologize for the mistakes in the text) :waving:

Daily intake

Hey all,

First a quick background. I am currently 20 years old, back when I was 19 I lost 28kg in 4 months by working out a lot and eating very poorly. On a daily bases it was something like 1 apple, 2 biscuits and a bowl of yoghurt for dinner. With on the occasional 'cheating day' a grilled cheese sandwich.

Now, I want to lose the remaining 10kg. I don't get controlled by hunger, nor do I often feel hungry. So the question is: how much harm will I do to myself by eating a few crackers every several hours in combination with water and fruit juices? Also, if someone else has experience with crash diets, what did you eat and what did you eat without fealing 'weak'?

I do realize this is considered a crash diet, and replies might be that this weight loss isn't permanent. From past experience I can (proudly) say that the results are permanent for me.

Thanks in advance.

Want To Feel Healthy and trim

Hello everyone,

In my younger days I was slim and full of energy. As the years crept upon me unwelcome weight has

also crept upon me (especially on my belly). So here I am on a Rainy (I love the rain by the way)

October Wednesday beginning a new venture of 'battle of the bulge'. Have high hopes and 'great expectations.

Starting at 5'5" and 197lbs. I will not tell you what my waist measures (I will when it shrinks a bit).

So Love to all and here we go.....:coolgleamA:

My combined diet that works ! 1 :D

I am 132 lbs, 16 yrs old , my goal is to lose excess abdominal fat and lose 20 pounds proportion

to my height which is 5ft.

Intermittent fasting is not eating within 14 hours or more, except no calorie drink (tea, water),

the time I do it is from 5pm until 7am or 9am in the morning which is 14 or 16 hours without

calories, according to studies it teaches your body to burn fat instead of the glycogen stores in

body if I'm right. because our body depletes glycogen stores within 12 hours.

Low carb diet( it's up to me when will I do this) sometimes atleast

Milk,

cheese,

oatmeal a day without rice.

or

Milk,

Fruit,

or

when I'm craving for sweets, I just eat, maybe the maximum is 100g of carbs per day or

when I'm desperate , below 20g per day. It helps you reduce the sugars in your body.

Low carb diet - eating more protein and fats, which helps you build muscle (which burns more fat)

next, is

Calorie deficit, My Body burns 1300 a day and because I'm not under sedentary type of person,

it goes with atleast 1400 a day. I'm not eating less than 1,200 calorie a day because it says that

your body needs that calorie inorder to properly function, eating below 1,200 for a long period

of time(for many months or years just to burn 500/1000 a day) will slow down your metabolism.

Lastly is drinking green tea in the morning while on intermittent fasting, yellow tea in the lunch,

green tea again in the evening - I do this to release toxins in my body and excrete waste (I'm

not eliminating wastes in my body for 4 days when I don't drink tea ),also because

before I do this diet, my meal everyday was full of processed and unhealthy foods.

I drink a lot of water and it became my hobby, water have so much benefits in our body. Also,

whenever I saw a soda or other caloric drink, It's just easy for me to avoid it . Just control

yourself in drinking more and more water and you can do it.

---- Exercise , whatever you do, as much as possible STAND, don't sit.

This works for me :)

If there's something you want to ask me, just message me or reply your email adress(facebook) in

the thread so we can have conversation about diet, I also want to increase knowledge about this.

My combined diet that works ! 2

Please delete my account.

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is any possible way I can delete my account or if someone could? My brief time on the site has helped me in a big way, but I'd prefer not to have the account any longer.

Thank you! :patriot:

Eating Healthy

Hi guys,

I just joined this morning to help with my research but I found this may also help me.

in the beginning of this year I weighed 89kg and was feeling good about losing some weight then around Easter time

I became very ill and my weight shot up to around 96kg in two weeks even though I had been eating the same.

I had suffered from severe abdominal pains and then had to go to hospital and it wasn't until late September after have

these pains for around 14 weeks the Drs told me I had Coeliacs

Now I have started a weight loss regime and end of the summer I was at my highest at 96.2kg but yesterday morning I weighed

in at 91.7kg and am starting to struggle to go down any more....

I think food is my biggest issue, as I try to go to the gym 4 times a week, I am trying to eat healthy and i always get side

tracked by chocolate and crips and soft drinks

thanks,

Christian

Healthy eating research

Hi everyone,

I am studying design at the university of huddersfield in the UK and was wandering if any of you could fill out a short questionnaire for my research, I am identifying issues revolving healthy eating and am trying to reach as many people and get as many problems to try and solve as I can, I am also struggling with weight loss and this is something I would like to research to motivate me to lose the weight I need to.

As a result if you do take part in the questionnaire you are letting me use your data anonymously in my research.

Here is the link to the questionnaire - http://ift.tt/1w8ie4m

Again thank you so much to everyone who takes part!

Chris

Losing weight and keeping it off (lifestyle)

Hello everyone, although I have seen success in weight loss it has been mainly due to a diet change. Nothing else as of now, strictly dietary. That is what brings me here. I have gone from being overweight to now at my target weight, but I want to get fit and in shape; I am hoping this is a great place for tips and motivation.

My story starts like most of yours, overweight, under confident, upset, depressed and trying everything I could find to help my weight go down - nothing worked! I would occasionally lose 5 pounds or so but never kept the weight off. What I learned is that losing weight is not an event, but a process that will continue until it is a lifestyle created mainly by you, but your friends, family and anyone who is willing to help.

It took me way too long to realize this, way too long. But when I finally did after about 4 months, this was now what I looked like:

Woot! Never in my life had I stuck with something with such commitment, the discipline that I leaned not only helped me lose weight, but it CHANGED MY LIFE! I am now more confident, I feel better about myself, I look in the mirror with a smile...I am much more HAPPY! My goal with joining this forum is to learn more active ways to stay fit and learn to enjoy them. When I first started my diet, I hated it; I repeat - I hated it! But now that I know how beneficial it has been to not only my body, but my entire life - I WILL NEVER GO BACK. Not only because I like the weight I am at, but I have turned this diet into a lifestyle, it is part of me and I am part of it.

My only advice to others is to find a diet plan that works for you! There might be some that are too expensive, too time consuming, too 'whatever!' But there is something out there for you, I PROMISE! You just need to find it. Once you find it, stick with it! You can lose 15 pounds in 3 weeks by literally just changing your diet! It is that important. Find a dietary plan that works for you and stick with it! No matter what! For 3 weeks, stick with it, watch the weight drop off of your body and you will no longer struggle with your diet, you will embrace it!

*If you would like more info on the diet plan I have now embraced, click Here!

I am in part two of my three stage life change. Part one was changing my diet and losing the initial weight. Part two, is to get active and get fit. Part three, stay healthy, stay slim, stay fit and live life to the fullest (and look darn good doing it!!!)

If you read my story, I appreciate it! I remember sitting on the other side of the computer with my hand on my head struggling to find the answers to my questions. It wasn't until someone posted an incredible success story that really motivated me- if I motivated you guys, even just one of you, then this was all worth it!

Post if you have any questions or advice on some beginning training for me!

Have a great day y'all - diet smart and safe :)

sorry

I was once a fat kid, now I'm here to help

Hi there guys,

As the title suggests, I was once a fat kid I'm still a kid in many of your eyes at the age of 24. I was very overweight growing up until about 16. I had a tendency to over eat quite considerably. A change in mindset and particularly sport pushed me to change my men tactility and lose the weight.

I'm now a qualified a personal trainer and nutrition consultant, I'm not one of these PT's who has never seen above 12% body fat! I've been on my own personal journey and would love to help individuals out on this forum.

I've produced a simple e book containing meal plans, exercise, but also explaining the benefits of different protocols and telling you which ones to avoid. It's roughly 50 pages long and it's not the magic pill, it's a simple guide to push you in the right direction.

I haven't completed it yet, and the question is how much would people to willing to pay for such information??? I'm not trying to money grab but have I spent time and money on courses to build my knowledge up to a high standard so I can translate the technical information and put into simple bite sized chunks.

Thank you for your time

230 Now, Going for 185. Comments Welcome

Hi,

You can call me Ty. Growing up and all through high school my weight fluctuated from 210-230. Once I got to college I started working at Subway and believe it or not I got down to about 185 eating chicken sandwiches or salads everyday and lifting weights. It felt good, after college I moved back home and stayed around the same weight for some time, working at a health food store, it was easy to get on board with everyone else, eating healthy and continuing to exercise. That all changed when I got a job at a place called world of beer, some of you might have heard of it. I thought it was really cool that there were all these different beers that I had never heard of so I joined their loyalty club, basically gaining points and recieveing rewards for the more beers you drank. Looking back now I wish that I didn't have close to 1000 different beers. As you might have guessed, with beers came the weight. A year later, back to 210-230, back where I started. It wasn't all a bust, I've started to find a career path in craft beer and it is what I'd like to continue to do. Like most of us, I've tried multiple times to lose the weight, my problem is that I am one extreme or the other, Im either eating right and exercising everyday or eating and not doing much of anything. Sometimes I get extremely determined and do really well for awhile but eventually get burned out and it's right back to beers and burgers. This time I'd like to get back down to 185 and keep it that way. I started about 10 days ago, tracking calories, preparing meals and mixing in some light exersice while being active at work as well. This guide from 230 to 185 will allow me to stay motivated, take constructive criticism and serve as a way to hold myself accountable along the way.

Here I am at 185-190 back when I first started to get into beer.

tyler185.jpg

Here I am now at 230, 5 years in to the beer scene.

tyler230.jpg

When you're skinny it's the smaller things you dont notice, people not giving you a titty twister or mentioning "hey sweet tits". Or, that momentum evoked roll over move getting out of bed in the morning. It's the glances you dont get from the cute passerby in the supermarket.

Right now, I am eating a lot of salads, peppers, avocado, chicken breasts(mainly this), bbq sauce, chobani yogurt, almonds.

I've cut my beer intake from about 20-25 per week to about 8-10, depending on whether I go out one night and binge or not, also to help with the drinking I've started drinking some Vodka/Soda water. Each day I feel myself wanting to drink less and less which is nice, I dont have the compelling urge to out right after work and grab a couple pints with friends. Rather just kick back and enjoy the rest of my evening at home which is a sacrifice I am more than willing to take to get to my goal.

A few of my motivations are, obviously looking and feeling better. Getting the girl. And to avoid a possible stroke, something that runs in my family and something my dad has struggled with for the past year.

So, lets raise our glasses (of water) and get Ty to 185. Comments welcome, tips and inspiration.

Time to find healthy..

I am really no good at introductions, so here goes nothing!

After seeing the highest number I've ever weighed last year, I vowed to make a change. I lost 10kgs, and kept it off for a good year, but then illness kicked in and I found myself back at my old habits, and put 5kg back on.

I decided a few weeks ago I was going to make one last crack at getting healthy, weighing less, and being happy with my body. One more time to prove to myself I CAN do this. I WILL do this.

I started at 115kg last week. Today I sit at 113.3kg. My heaviest was 120kg.

For those who don't use kg, I weighed 253lbs last week, and now weigh 249lbs as of this morning.

I am not proud of where I am. I am not proud of my body, how I feel, or how I look. Only I can make the change - so that's what I am going to do!

Google (in all its wisdom) suggests for my age/height I should weigh 70 kg. I am going to aim to find a comfortable, healthy weight between 70-80kg. Feeling happy in my own skin, to me, is more important than the number on the scale.

Here we go..!
