Let's motivate each other to loose weight!

Hi, I'm 21, female, and want to shed off those last few extra pounds that have become harder for me, i guess I lost motivation when I wasn't seeing results and now want to start new.

I currently weight 136 pounds and am 5'4''.

My goal: 124lbs



This is how I plan to go on with this thread, all those people who wish to all loose those extra pounds and somehow have lost or are low at motivation can join this thread so we can motivate each other to reach our goals.



Here are the rules:

1) All those who wish to join give their current weight and their goal.

2) Age and height included.

3) It's healthiest to loose 2-4 lbs per week, so every week, each follower puts up his/her progress and also the downfalls and then explain why that downfall happen and vow not to go for it again.

4) We all should keep the environment positive and boost up the one who feels low, so he/she can start again.

5) Followers can include their weight loss plans- exercises that helped them or diets (though I'm personally not in favor of going on specific diets, I believe that we should eat all but in lesser quantity, except sodas and sugary stuff ;) )



Open to ideas, feel free to suggest ideas that may improve this thread!

Step By Step Burn Your Belly Fat Fast

:banghead:One of the most common questions I get is how to lose belly fat. Belly fat is actually the most dangerous type of fat – besides aesthetics, large waist lines are indicators of –disease-disease-disease.

2. Short bursts of exercises



1000 crunches a night may get you strong abdominal muscles, but with a full layer of fat on top, you will not get the results you really want. Instead of all those crunches, do exercises that engage multiple muscle groups and work your cardiovascular system. Try planking, where you hold yourself in a push-up position, resting your forearms on the ground. Try 3 or 4 sets of holding for 30 seconds each. Getting up and moving throughout the day by going for walks will also help.



3. Sugar is your Enemy



Fighting belly fat is 80% healthy diet. Reduce calories by filling yourself up with protein, vegetables, whole grains, and replacing bad habit snacks with good ones. You can gain muscle WITHOUT TAKING IN EXCESS CALORIES ? The answer is YES.

Can you gain muscle without taking in excess calories ? The answer is yes . My laboratory has recently published a study in the " European Journal of Applied Physiology " , where we have optimized the intake of protein, calories, but kept in the maintenance of subjects.5



We found that these highly trained subjects gained muscle and lost fat at the same time, with minimal change in their total body weight. In other Niwali Test O Boost words , hard workout while eating maintenance calories can really change your body for a more muscular appearance, less fat.



The premise for our study was not entirely new ; were the subjects that made it special . Until recently, almost all studies that are conducted in subjects overfed sedentary ( untrained ) . The subjects in our study also trained each body part to extreme levels several times a week .



We found that both groups increased their muscle mass by about 6-8 pounds. However , the difference in the case of fat accumulation was more pronounced . While moderate calorie group lost 2 pounds of fat, calories wing group gained 2 pounds of fat ! This tells us that the more calories can be anabolic , there is a ceiling for its positive effects.



Beyond this limit, the excess calories are stored as fat. The result is that more time is needed to reduce , and when it does , it will cost more muscle tissue from the catabolic degradation.

I have my pedometer app for my walks, my Arise app for charting calories and exercise, and now I downloaded an audio book for my walks on how to learn Spanish. Technology is awesome. Losing weight AND learning a new language a the same time. Not sure I could get so motivated without it.

Hello all, 3 weeks ago I started my diet to shred fat off. However i weight more now then I did and dont understand it. I have quite a physical job (ground worker... Dig wholes for a living) and my daily food is:



10:30am 2 snackajack cakes at 51cals each

go ahead bar at 146kcals.



13:00pm same again



18:00-19:00pm i have a meal not bad maybe some chips here or there but i try to get protein in on this on.



Obviously i have water with all this.



I run 3miles 4days a week and on a sunday i run 10miles. I go to the gym aswell! I've got an injury and not able to do the same amount of runningg that i used to do. I used to run twice a day, gym and circuit training.

Post-Weightloss Assessment

First, let me begin by apologizing, I did not know where the best place to post this thread was, but this seemed like the most neutral of places in the forum.



Second, a little about myself. In 2012, I lost 115 pounds. I went from a little over 300 pounds down to around the mid-180's, in a relatively short amount of time (from Feb 2012 to August 2012). This was accomplished through exercise and diet, NOT SURGERY. I'm male, age 43. I was overweight for quite some time, at least since my late 20's. I've gained lots of weight in the past, and lost lots of weight (teens and early 20's). This time I found the key, which was my soda habit. No more soda, no more weight gain. Since 2012 I've maintained my weight loss, I go to the gym about 4 times a week to do cardio (1 hour sessions, burning approximately 650 calories each session). I eat less than 2000 calories a day, approximately 1600 calories is my daily allotment. I went from a size 44 pant, to a size 33. Shirts went from XXL to L (sometimes medium, depending on brand/fit). Even things like shoe size changed.



My dilemma now is this: I feel that I've come so far, but things seem out of reach for me. I would like 6 pack abs. My doctor seems to think I would need skin removal surgery for that to happen. As it stands now I still have some belly fat, but I can see the beginnings of a "V" shaped torso. Whenever I tell my doctor about any of this, his answer is always surgery. I'm disinclined to believe him. Other people tell me I should just be happy where I'm at, which is all good and fine philosophically, but that does not give me a body that I envisioned I would have when I began this journey. Although my outward appearance has changed radically (clothed) I'm not happy by who I see in the mirror. I would like some tight, solid muscles. I go weight training, and do it for a while, then quit, because I never see any outstanding results. I've done crunchs, situps, planks, to no avail. Things feel solid in the middle when I tighten up the muscles, but let's face it, you can't see it on the outside. I'd even be happy if I could just have a flat stomach, but right now I have this quasi-slightish-muffin top that persists.



So I've consulted with doctors, personal trainers, and honestly, get different answers from both. What I want to know is this: At age 43, given the above, what are my realistic expectations for having a gym body? I mean a toned, muscled body with minimal skin hanging/flapping? I feel like I need to find a place where I can go and have a consultation by a panel of people: plastic surgeon, doctor, nutritionist, physical therapist, personal trainer, dermatologist; but where is this place? Does it exist? I need a real assessment so I know what to expect and what to do. I can read all the books I want, I can listen to all the friendly philosophizing, or personal trainers who just want to make a buck, and even the doctors that want to make a buck. But that doesn't help me. I need to know what the realistic expectations I should have, and that I can accomplish them within a reasonable amount of time. I do not want gigantic, bulging muscles, I just want definition, and I want it within a reasonable amount of time, and I want to know that it's doable. Where can I go to get this assessment? Does anyone have a clinic or type of clinic that I should be searching for? I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Got a weight loss question

Hi Everyone am new here to this forum and just want to ask has anyone tried the 14 day rapid weight loss program by shaun Hadsall?

Am going on vacation next month, I actually earn a free vacation to Cancun yippee! but I read a review on this site http://ift.tt/1nIeWPs

and it says you can lose your belly fat in 14 days. If this works this is exactly what I would need because I don't have much time and I want to loose like 15lbs in my stomach area and waist.

I am willing to work very hard and I know the review said its hard work won't be easy and the explanation makes sense but I was just wondering if anyone tried it before and can give me a feedback before I try it.

My Story so far...

But then I thought, I wonder if my eye sight, which was still getting worse, is causing this, so I asked him if that was a possibility, and he confirmed. This was the first moment I realized it might be real.



I immediately began searching the Internet. Everything I read was just confirming that it was possible this is what was going on. I recently moved to the area, so I had to find a new doctor. That was a Wednesday and I was able to get in on the next Monday. I immediately quick all sugar, and even cut my carbs down to almost nothing. The next day, my constant urinating stopped. I found that amazing that it was so quick. The next Monday I went in and they gave me a blood test after fasting for 12 hours. My Blood glucose was 301 and my A1c was 10.6. That confirmed it, I was a diabetic. I about passed out, seriously, though it might have been from watching them take my blood, I can't really handle that.



The doctor put me on four medications. Metformin, Invokana, a statin and one for high blood pressure. I had all of it, the whole metabolic syndrome. He also told me to eat no more than 1800 calories a day and that I could start exercising and keep my Carbs under 50% of my intake.



Well, it looks like I found my motivation.



Why I stopped all sugar, aside from the obvious, was that I had watched a video a number of years ago called "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" on YouTube. It was a presentation by Dr. Lustig that talked about all the dangers of sugar. I new from that video that Diabetes was a result of too much sugar, not fat, in my diet. I was at 314.4 lbs that day.



Over the course of the next four months, I continued to drop weight, almost effortlessly. At first I had a hard time with the sugar, but the motivation of getting on the right side of Diabetes kept me going. I bought a Basis Watch to keep track of my health. It also monitors heart rate. My Resting Heart Rate when I got it was 89. That was really high. I also started walking and even running the the mornings, but getting 5000 steps a day in my sit down job was a challenge.



Lets just get to the point. My Resting Heart Rate is now around 62-65 on any given day. I have dropped 62.2 lbs total and my last doctors visit was last week where my Blood glucose was 99 and my A1c was 5.2. My cholesterol is normal, my blood pressure is normal. I am not running a 5K this Saturday and I know I can easily complete it. I have had a totally turn around in 4 months. I can credit a lot of things, but I give the bulk of it to the lack of sugar.



I exercise now because I want to! I have energy like never before. I no longer miss the sugar! I am actually glad I am no longer addicted to it! There is no longer desire to have it anymore. Losing weight has NEVER been so easy. So I am not allowed to give out medical advice. But I can say, you might be interested in watching the Video, "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" Just to see what I am talking about.



The next thing I want to see is to be off all the medication. The only reason I am not is the doctor is afraid of taking me off it too quickly.




Post-Weightloss Assessment

First, let me begin by apologizing, I did not know where the best place to post this thread was, but this seemed like the most neutral of places in the forum.



Second, a little about myself. In 2012, I lost 115 pounds. I went from a little over 300 pounds down to around the mid-180's, in a relatively short amount of time (from Feb 2012 to August 2012). This was accomplished through exercise and diet, NOT SURGERY. I'm male, age 43. I was overweight for quite some time, at least since my late 20's. I've gained lots of weight in the past, and lost lots of weight (teens and early 20's). This time I found the key, which was my soda habit. No more soda, no more weight gain. Since 2012 I've maintained my weight loss, I go to the gym about 4 times a week to do cardio (1 hour sessions, burning approximately 650 calories each session). I eat less than 2000 calories a day, approximately 1600 calories is my daily allotment. I went from a size 44 pant, to a size 33. Shirts went from XXL to L (sometimes medium, depending on brand/fit). Even things like shoe size changed.



My dilemma now is this: I feel that I've come so far, but things seem out of reach for me. I would like 6 pack abs. My doctor seems to think I would need skin removal surgery for that to happen. As it stands now I still have some belly fat, but I can see the beginnings of a "V" shaped torso. Whenever I tell my doctor about any of this, his answer is always surgery. I'm disinclined to believe him. Other people tell me I should just be happy where I'm at, which is all good and fine philosophically, but that does not give me a body that I envisioned I would have when I began this journey. Although my outward appearance has changed radically (clothed) I'm not happy by who I see in the mirror. I would like some tight, solid muscles. I go weight training, and do it for a while, then quit, because I never see any outstanding results. I've done crunchs, situps, planks, to no avail. Things feel solid in the middle when I tighten up the muscles, but let's face it, you can't see it on the outside. I'd even be happy if I could just have a flat stomach, but right now I have this quasi-slightish-muffin top that persists.



So I've consulted with doctors, personal trainers, and honestly, get different answers from both. What I want to know is this: At age 43, given the above, what are my realistic expectations for having a gym body? I mean a toned, muscled body with minimal skin hanging/flapping? I feel like I need to find a place where I can go and have a consultation by a panel of people: plastic surgeon, doctor, nutritionist, physical therapist, personal trainer, dermatologist; but where is this place? Does it exist? I need a real assessment so I know what to expect and what to do. I can read all the books I want, I can listen to all the friendly philosophizing, or personal trainers who just want to make a buck, and even the doctors that want to make a buck. But that doesn't help me. I need to know what the realistic expectations I should have, and that I can accomplish them within a reasonable amount of time. I do not want gigantic, bulging muscles, I just want definition, and I want it within a reasonable amount of time, and I want to know that it's doable. Where can I go to get this assessment? Does anyone have a clinic or type of clinic that I should be searching for? I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Am I being impatient?? Getting married in July!! HELP

Hello!

I'm getting married in July and have started working out everyday two weeks ago. I have been doing a 30 minute cardio/strength work out everyday and am not seeing a difference!! I have cut back huge on my meals. Eating homemade, low carb and not snacking as often as I was before. I feel like nothing is coming off but the workouts are killing me so I know I'm pushing my body. Am I being too impatient with results? Does anyone else have this "issue" or felt this way?

High Protein Vegetarian Soup?

Hi everyone.



I have a kilo of sweet potatoes and I would like to use at least half of them before they go weird.



I was hoping people could post their favorite soup recipes involving potatoes (anything with chicken stock I can easily just substitute for vegetable stock).



I'm looking for more tomato-ey based soups.





I used to make the recipe below quite a bit and it had a good consistency. Lst time I tried to experiment and make my own soup it turned out too watery (I had added WAY too much liquid). I'd like to incorporate canned tomatoes into this but am wondering would I substitute some of the water for the tomatoes so that there is a similar amount of liquid? Or would that impact on the cooking time of the lentils? Any thoughts would be appreciated.



Here is the recipe I was refferring too:



Red lentil and sweet potato soup

Serves 4

2 tsp oil

4 spring onions, finely chopped

½ clove garlic, chopped

½ tsp cumin

1 cup dry red lentils

700g sweet potato, chopped into small cubes

2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped into small cubes

2 tsp salt-reduced vegetable stock powder

4 cups water

1 cup skim milk

1. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté onions until transparent. Add garlic, cumin and lentils to the pan and stir over heat for one minute.

2. Add sweet potato, potatoes, vegetable stock and Vitasoy Oatmilk. Bring to the boil and then simmer gently for 30 minutes.

3. Process with a hand blender for a smoother consistency, or leave chunky if desired.

4. Garnish with extra spring onions to serve.



Does anyone have any thoughts on adapting this to incorporate canned tomatoes and/or tomato paste? Or does anyone have a recipe for a non-spicy soup that is similar nutritionally?

Carmen's journey to 199 Lbs!

Hi all My name is Carmen.



I am returning to this forum (Actually don't remember my last username)



I was successful in losing around 40 pounds after joining this forum, but fell off the wagon...



My goal for now is to be under 200 pounds. I'm currently 260 pounds at 5 ft 8 (Female). Ultimately I want to get down to around 150 but for now my goal is to reach 199. I haven't been under 200 pounds in over 10 years and I felt so alive when I was down at 219 just last year.



What I've learned about myself when it comes to weight loss:



- Diets that restrict me to certain types of food don't work for me as well as counting calories does

- I always get a little paranoid about hitting a plateau and not being able to lose more weight

- I cannot successfully cut out carbs. Pasta, rice, chicken, steak are really the only foods that fill me up.

- I can successfully keep a 1,200-1,400 per day calorie diet.

- I eat my biggest meal at night



(Any thoughts on these btw? opinions or tips or things that you think would be helpful if I Tried harder to change?)



A few things that I've observed about myself which I hope to change:



- I've realized that I am an emotional eater. When I'm upset and mad at the world I drive to the nearest Wendy's and order $6 worth of fast food.

- I center too many things around food. I look forward to that one big meal I will have for dinner, all day.

- When I have a little bit of a cheat during the day, I sometimes use it as an excuse to just have a poor eating day overall rather than just during one meal

- I do not drink enough water



Hardships in eating healthy (I would love advice!!)

- My parents are strict vegetarians and don't like meat being cooked in their home. So unless I'm bringing food from a restaurant, I'm not allowed to make grilled chicken for a salad for example.

- I started working a job that's from 10-7, it's a sitting at my desk job with very little exercise. There are several vending machines and my cubicle mates snack through out the day on cupcakes, candy, brownies etc. It's VERY hard to not eat anything while at my desk.

- I am usually too exhausted to work out



My plan on losing 60 pounds:



I eat a lot of Chipotle. And I've lost weight eating it in the past (counting calories). Does a plan that involves a heavy dinner and a very light lunch make sense? 200-300 calories for lunch and maybe around 1,000 for dinner? I don't sleep right away after dinner. I'm still awake for around 3-4 hours.



According to myfitnesspal, I would have to consume 1,480 calories a day in order to lose 2 pounds a week. But I believe in the past I was aiming for 5 lbs a week and eating around 1,000 calories a day. Any suggestions on where to start?



I have heard that changing it up after the first 20 lbs are dropped makes more sense. So eating 1,400 per day at first and then dropping to 1,200 or 1,000.



Also in terms of working out, I'm not currently working out because I'm energyless but I know eventually I have to start. I was thinking I'll start at working out 2x a week. And gradually increase the rate. Is there logic or truth in the theory that not working out at the start is ok because you'll still lose weight. But after a certain point you should start to? Am I making sense?



I am so open to any of your comments, insight, opinions, and just general hellos! I am tired of dreading summer, dreading going anywhere because I don't know what to wear. I hate not liking going shopping because I'm scared of how things look on my body. I'm tired of being the biggest person in the room. Of people looking at my body for the wrong reasons. I'm tired of not being taken as seriously or being viewed as less than I am for my weight!!! Most of all I'm just tired of spending everyday indoors because I hate going anywhere, being in photographs, or even looking in the mirror. It's no way to live and starting tomorrow I really hope to make a change in my life that will last.

6. Find a Role Model:
Instead of focusing on celebrities that are thin, find a celebrity that is larger and attractive, or one that is struggling with weight loss. This allows you to choose a realistic role model.



Positive body image can be difficult to find when you're struggling to lose weight. Focusing on your positive mental and physical traits will help you to be comfortable in the body you have.



This allows you to work towards better health, instead of simply working to be skinnier. Overall, this is a much healthier approach to weight loss, and will help you stay positive throughout the process.

Hey there everyone! Newbie to the site here,



Firstly, just for some personal reasons, I would prefer to go under the name of "The Cat". :coolgleamA:



I am a 21 year old guy living in the UK, and have struggled with weight issues over the past year or so. I originally was dead skinny, but because of certain factors, I gained a lot of weight, in a short space of time, and I'm talking about going from 9 stone to 14 stone :ack2:

in little under a year.



I am happy to say that I've lost 2 stone, in a period of 13 weeks, and am currently trying to loose 1 more stone but am having difficulty, as the first two stone I shifted off really quickly, I understand that a weight loss of this kind, at first, goes quite quickly, and that it's the next stone or two that happens quite slowly as the entire weight loss programme seems to plateau!



I will look through the forums to find the correct section to post about this, but I really just wanted to say hi to everyone, and hope we can chat! :waving:

Hello everyone, me and my wife are starting to eat better and the thing is I know what to do because I have researched it a lot but I don't know how to help her. We have both been big time drinkers for the last 6 years and she has never really ate much of anything throughout the day. In fact, she might eat less than 500 calories in a day (getting 6-9 beers worth of calories at night). She has gained weight ever since she stopped working and doesn't really get to much physical activity. She has gained weight steadily over the past few years and I really don't know how to help her. I think the best thing for her to do is to start eating regularly with exercise but she has gained a 1lb from it in the last week. I won't mention her weight but it is up there. Anyone have any guides or advice?

My first diary

My name is Alicia. I've had a couple kids which has set me back a little in the fitness world. Small amounts of sleep, high stress and bad eating habits. Though, I am extremely stubborn and have a high will power so after each pregnancy I lost 50 pounds. I am about 5 pounds away from my comfortable weight. The problem is that I have been over my comfortable weight for 5 years that my mind worries when I get closer. My mindset reset itself, if that makes sense. I'm going to try something new, mindset-wise. I'm not weighing myself in pounds anymore. I'm now stones. Hopefully this will help. I've never weighed myself in stones before. I'm 9 stones, 1 lb. Not fat by any means. But I'm not fit. After having two children I need to reclaim my body as my own. To stop eating junk food and heaps of pasta. I feel slow, lethargic and anxious much of the time.



Sometimes what happens is, I get sick or take sugar out of my cabinets and I lose weight. I lose so much that I worry I'm not able to maintain my weight and I start eating junk food to gain the weight back. Just 5 pounds. Mentally I know its unhealthy to gain weight with sugar and bread but emotionally I cling to it.



Just thoughts. I'm looking for a lifestyle change. Getting rid of emotional baggage just as much as those last 5 pounds.

Well, I am a user! :) For those who aren't familiar with it, here is the link. My friend recommended this to me. At first I thought it was some useless programs, you know.. but I got carried away by the cheap price :drool5: so why not try it? I also got to access a personal trainer so that's cool. I've learned a lot of things from my personal trainer online. And I am going to share one tip that I learned. I learned that liver is the main, if not, one of the responsible organs for cleaning our fats. If it is not treated good, it won't function really well. That's why some people who tend to exercise well to keep fit, and then stop for a while easily becomes fat. It is because you also have to maintain your liver. :D

Hi, Im new to this site.



For a long time I have been wanting to start my healthy weight-loss journey and I have finally decided to start. I am in my early 20s not largely over weight, I would just like to slim down a little bit and have a healthy lifestyle.

For the past two months I have been using my new nutribullet every morning to make yummy healthy drinks which are usually my breakfast meal. I hardly ever drink fizzy drinks and never drink coffee. Also tomorrow I plan on joining up at the local gym and beginning my slow but steady journey. Only thing is I work on a rotating rosters doing different hours day to day, week to week, so it is hard to set up a routine for me as quite often I am eating and will be working out at all different times..



Just wondering if anyone has any tips for starting off my exercise plan? Just cardio? or certain exercises or would yoga or something else be a good plan? I try to swim a few laps twice a week.
