How can I lose weight?

Hello I need help losing weight..I've lost 55+lbs but I'm stuck now and I'm 17, 5'9" 165lbs. The thing that is annoying to me is I eat amazingly healthy yet I'm not losing more weight.

-I DO NOT eat dairy, grains, legumes, refined sugars, unhealthy oils, processed foods. I am a pure natural healthy eater and I never cheat. I follow the "paleo diet" if saying that gives you a better understanding.

-My nutrition intake is very high fat and high protein, all healthy fats though mostly coming from almonds and nuts

-My exercise is very minimal. I rarely exercised but I am now walking 30mins everyday and doing daily stretching recently.

I know I'm not obese but I am certainly not starving. If anyone has any advice on what I could change PLEASE SHARE! I'm looking for lifestyle changes not temporary diets (temporary plateau break diet is a bit different though). I don't have access to heavy gym equipment/pool, otherwise I'm all up for suggestions.

Getting faster and stronger but not skinnier

I should preface by saying it's only been a week of exercising, but after a month or so of dialing in my diet and feeling healthier because of it (albeit not thinner) I hit the bike trails last week and was amazed at how fast my physical progress was so that's been great but I'm feeling a little discouraged. Every day I've doing a 10 mile round trip and it includes a steep hill through a park that's about 100 yards and can only really be tackled at walking speed... currently I'm walking the second half. With traffic light stops and the hill included I'm doing the trip in about 50 minutes. According to this website that calculates your weight, cycling distance, topography, etc I'm burning about 1000 calories doing so. (http://ift.tt/1kjjjvk)

I haven't lost a single pound though. I've been staying around my 2500 calorie / day diet (except for the extra Spirulina I've been taking to help recover) which is what the calorie calculator link on this website suggested for someone with my specs that isn't active. Besides the spirulina I've also been taking a packette of "Emergen-C" every day as well to replenish electrolytes which I'm sure is helping my speedy recovery.

I'm thinking if anything I'm not eating enough... On Sunday I went for a shortened ride and then played my hour and a half gig (I'm a drummer) later that night and found myself almost blacking out on stage and even when sitting down between sets away from the lights I had vertigo and was quivering. For about a day or so prior I'd been feeling light headed when I stood up. I seemed to be adequately hydrated (pee'd twice during the show and it was almost clear). I ate a big meal with chicken breast, rice and pan fried peppers when I got home and felt better about two hours later and went to bed right away. I slept a good 11 hours. I took the last two days off and feel MUCH better today.

I considered that maybe I haven't lost weight because I've built muscle in replacement it but I don't really feel feel any more trim. I actually feel a little bloated which I think might be from extra protein.

How am I doing? Should I stay the course? Does all of this sound okay?

Advice - Phentermine

Hi all,

I have been prescribed Phentermine HCL 30mg by my doctor to start my weight loss. I am at my heaviest (12st) and am 5"8 tall with a BMI of 25.5. I am only on day 1 and feeling positive as I have zero appetite and craving water (and lots of it). I have been on a slimming pill in the past and got down to a very slim 9st in the space of a couple of months, however this wasn't monitored by a doctor and the pill was taken off the market due to it containing Sibutramine. 4 years on and I have put that weight back on and more. I am determined not to see this as a quick fix and for it to change my habits unlike last time. Id just like to see if anyone has taken Phentermine before and any advice they have for me? Along with how much weight I may lose weekly, taking into account my weight and height (I am 29 years old).

Thanks

Now or never

My name is Jo and I decided to do something about my weight when I reached 165.3 lbs. I'm 5'1 so my BMI was way over at that weight and I was classed as obese. I started putting on weight when I was about 10 and have been unhappy with it ever since but never managed to have enough motivation to do anything about. I'm now at the age (25) where I'm thinking about having children and TV shows about the increased dangers of pregnancy in overweight women and the difficulty people have losing weight after giving birth has led me to the conclusion that I have to lose weight now before I have kids. This will mean less risks during pregnancy and if I already have experience of getting weight off before gaining pregnancy weight then it will be much easier losing it after giving birth rather than having no clue where to start. The skinny girl I went to school with who has since gained probably at least 8 stone since having her kids 4 years ago is not who I want to be.

My new year's resolution for 2013 was to cut out fizzy drinks, which was the only thing I ever drank, and I actually managed to do it! I now only drink water which has probably helped massively in improving my health as well as helped me lose some weight. I also joined a gym which was less successful, I have found that I am much more likely to work out at home on my own with no one around rather than having to find the motivation to actually get to the gym in the first place and feel embarrassed around other people. So I now drink only water, hardly ever have crisps (or chips if you're American) or biscuits or anything like that (despite my Dad coming home with cream cakes ever time he goes food shopping), and have started trying to work out ever day either with workout DVD's or on a bike cross trainer machine thing which I got for free off someone on Freecycle.

I am currently 141.8 after gaining a few pounds on holiday a week or so ago so I'm going in the right direction and am losing weight much faster this year now I've got a routine (I was 151 at the start of 2014). I don't have a set goal for my ideal weight but I know that 130 is the top end of the healthy weight range for my height so I'm aiming for that for now, with lots of smaller milestones set in between, my next being 140 so I'm pretty close. Milestones are currently set at:

140 lbs (10 stone mark)

137.3 lbs (will have lose 2 stone overall)

136.5 lbs (9 3/4 stone mark)

130 lbs (entering the healthy weight range for my height)

I'm hoping to reach 130 lbs by the end of August because that's when I meet up with friends who only get together once a year and I think it will be a nice surprise and I'll hopefully get some lovely comments.

Now I think I've waffled enough and better get on with some exercise!

Has anyone tried kratom extract before?

Has anyone tried that kratom stuff before? It's supposed to help with pain, boosts your energy and mood, and even helps in the bedroom. I don't think they sell it anywhere around here, so I thought I'd ask online.

I found some site that was selling kratom extract capsules, which would be the easiest way to take it in my mind. I don't want to chew on a bunch of leaves…

But let me know if you've tried it before, in the capsule form, and if it really lives up to the hype or not. Thanks guys!

Trying to shed this stubborn fat that wont go away....

Hey there. I would not call myself a novice to the whole weight loss and exercise arena, but i would love some advice from some professionals or someone who knows what might work to help me out further.

I'm hoping i could maybe get some advice on here for a plateau i seem to have hit with my weight loss.

I am currently eating a balanced diet of fat/carbs/protein. I've been eating at a Caloric net deficit of around 20-30% of my BMR (including calories burned from cardio) for a couple months now. I've read a few books on the subject and feel i generally know what im doing. After the first 3 weeks i noticed considerable weight loss. Almost every day i could notice myself losing weight. From weeks 3-5 i noticed i was slightly losing more weight every couple days or so i could tell. but it seems like over the last 2-3 weeks it seems like haven't really seen any sort of improvement. I'm in fairly good shape. I had been doing a weight training and cardio routine about a few months before i decided to restrict calorie consumption and focus more on fat loss. the weight im trying to lose is all in that "spare tire" area. In-between the bottom of my ribs and the top of my pants line.

Is there something else i can try doing to try to knock out that stubborn area? Every single day im eating at a caloric deficit which i know should equate to losing the fat, but i just dont see any changes with that area any longer. Almost like i hit a wall in my weight loss.

According to what ive read, its not healthy to go below a 30% caloric deficit so im a little hesitant to either eat less or exercise more, especially if its going to have some negative affects.

I am 6'2. 28 y/o. 212 pounds. I consume right around 2550-2650 calories daily and burn between 700-800 calories in cardio daily, which roughly gives me a net calorie consumption of 1750-1850 daily.

Any advice guys?

Thanks!

Serious Weight loss guide needed

I'm 18 years old and located in India. I've been pleasantly plump ever since and from the past 2 years-fat. I weigh 90 kgs, have a waist of 40 inches and a height of 5 feet10 inches. Due to academic pressure and simply eating studying and sleeping from the past 2 years I've neglected my body and become fat. The type where people tell you you've become fat.

Anyways I joined the gym a week ago and am REALLY pumped loose weight. The trainers don't help out much I frankly I can't afford a personal trainer. I have alternate cardio and full body workout sessions a week. So 3 of each per week and an off on sunday. I burn about 300 cal on an average everyday

Now here's my problem. I workout, I feel hungry, I control it and eat healthy stuff like fruits. Mostly apples and have a very controlled diet in the morning and evening. However, for snacks and breakfast for the most I can't afford most of the things recommended such as almond milk, granular bars and stuff. They aren't available easily and quite expensive for daily use. Plus the protein shakes are SUPER expensive ..more than 3 months of my gym fees. Above all, I'm a vegetarian at home which is for about 5 days since my parents don't eat or cook meat. So what diet should I follow? Can anyone suggest a SIMPLE diet? I have chicken on weekends and eggs are allowed at home. How many calories should I burn daily? I follow my workout sessions very rigourously and have developed a good control over my diet from the past week. How long will it take for results to show? Any help is welcome. Newbie apologies in advance(in case I posted in the wrong 'advanced' forum).

How to treat glaucoma?

Glaucoma is the serious eye diseases which can be cause of blindness if we will not treat this, it can be treat by using eye drops which help to reduce glaucoma, eye infection and stop fluid coming from eyes. In diet we need to eat more vitamin c foods which also will help to protect this and also other eye diseases. In starting we need to wear eye contact lens which will help to see other object clear and wash eyes 3 or 4 times in day with cold water. Doctor also prefer to patient for glaucoma surgery treatment which is costly but it can be treat with naturally so we need to go for this first, if it will not treat with naturally then we need to go for surgery option.

Food

I have a question and dont really know where to ask it, so i'll just do it here hoping for the best.

I am a 26 y/o male, living in central america. I have recently started an easy workout regime (i rarely do any physical exercises so any workout is tough for me) to try and get "fit" and i have a question about food. I've read online what to eat, what not to eat, and so forth. My problem is, "healthy food" isnt accesible to me. I only get 5$ a day which i need to move around and go to college, leaving about 2-3$ to eat. Having almost no healthy (and cheap) choices, i always eat fast food. It would be ideal for me to buy whole grains, tuna, etc.. etc. but its way too expensive for me to do so where i live. (1 can of tuna for example, is 2.50$) So my question is, can i become fit, while still eating these "greasy" fast food burgers and such? I usually only eat once a day, other than a peck or two at night time. I really dont know what my options are, and i dont know if my dream is possible. Im not overweight, i would just like some muscles over my bones, as i have practically none.

HOW TO LOSS 10 Pounds IN 1 WEEK

Weight Loss Plan : The Goal to Go For

Since excess weight puts you at risk for many health problems, you may need to set some weight loss plans to help avoid those risks and prevent disease.

But what should be your long-term goal? And what short-term goals should you set to help you get there? You have a better chance of attaining your goals if you make sure that the weight loss plans that you will use are sensible and reasonable right at the beginning.

Here are some guidelines from the experts in choosing weight loss plans and goals.

1. Be realistic

Most people’s long-term weight loss plans are more ambitious than they have to be.

For example, if you weigh 170 pounds and your long-term plan is to weigh 120, even if you have not weighed 120 since you were 16 and now you are 45, that is not a realistic weight loss goal.

Your body mass index or BMI is a good indicator of whether or not you need to shed of pounds. The ideal BMI range, according to the national Institutes of Health, is between 19 and 24.9. If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9, you are considered overweight. Any number above 30 is in the obesity range.

From this point of view, you will need a sensible weight loss plan that will correspond to the required BMI based on your height, because this is the primary factor that will affect your BMI.

2. Set appropriate objectives

Using a weight loss plan just for vanity’s sake is psychologically less helpful than losing weight to improve health.

You have made a big step forward if you decide to undergo a weight loss plan that includes exercise and eating right so that you will feel better and have more energy to do something positive in your life.

3. Focus on doing, not losing

Rather than saying that you are going to lose a pound this week, say how much you are going to exercise this week. This would definitely make up of a sensible weight loss plan.

Keep in mind that your weight within a span of a week is not completely in your control, but your behavior is.

4. Build bit by bit

Short-term weight loss plans should not be “pie-in-the-sky.” This means that when you have never exercised at all, your best weight loss plan for this week should be based on finding three different one-mile routes that you can walk next week.

5. Keep up the self-encouragement

An all-or-nothing attitude only sets you up to fail. Learn to evaluate your efforts fairly and objectively. If you fall short of some goals, just look ahead to next week. You do not need to have a perfect record.

After all, self-encouragement should definitely be a part of your weight loss plans. Otherwise, you will just fail in the end.

6. Use measurable measures

Saying that you are going to be more positive this week or that you are going to really get serious this week is not a goal that you can measure and should not be a part of your weight loss plan.

This is another reason why you should incorporate exercise on your weight loss plan and focus on it. You should be able to count up the minutes of exercise in order to be successful in your plan.

The bottom line is, people should make weight loss plans that will only remain as it is, just a plan. They have to put it into action by incorporating goals that will motivate them to succeed.

Best ways to weight loss

Overnight Weight Loss

The rise in the number of fast foods joints that have a lot of saturated fat in the meals, the use of a lot of refined sugar in sodas and other processed foods and eating food with less fiber have all contributed to the fact that there are more people than before who are classified as either overweight or are obese.

A lot of other factors cause this to happen such as genetics, overeating and as people age; the metabolism slows down making it harder than before to burn the food that was just consumed.

The rate that a person loses weight is commensurate to how it is gained. Rapid weight is not good advisable since it leaves the person with lose skin and the only way to get rid of that would require surgery.

Weight loss depends on the condition of the person which includes weight, health, calorie-intake, age, gender, lifestyle, stress level and routine.

Being overweight does not necessarily make a person unhealthy. It just makes the person a bit unfashionable. Studies have shown that people who are a bit overweight live longer than those who have normal weight.

There is no quick or overnight solution for quick weight loss.

Nutritionists and other health experts will say that a person’s weight with proper exercise can actually help lose a certain number of pounds per week The best way to do this is with a low calorie diet and an exercise plan.

The first thing a person needs to do is to choose a diet program designed by a dietitian or another health professional. The patient has to be evaluated before any program can be made. The program usually consists of an eating plan and an exercise program that does not require the use of supplements or one to purchase any expensive fitness equipment.

The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase ones metabolism and lose weight.

A good diet should have food from all the food groups.

This is made up by 2 things. The first is carbohydrates. The food that a person consumes should have vitamins, minerals and fiber. A lot of this can come from oats, rice, potatoes and cereals. The best still come from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micronutrients that are essential for a healthy diet.

The second is fat which can come from mono and poly saturated food sources rather than animal fats. Since fat contains more than double the number of calories in food, this should be taken in small quantities to lose weight.

All diet plans are designed to make the person induce reduced amount of calories into the body. This does not mean that the person has to eat less. It just means that one has to eat smart by choosing the foods that have less calories. This makes it possible for someone to lose weight without the need to eat less.

During the course of the program, the person should still consult with the doctor and other health experts to monitor ones progress. There will be times that it is essential to modify the diet plan to further lose weight.

It is up to the person already to stick to the program to see that it works.

Hi! :waving::waving:

My name is Sally. I have been moderately dieting since October of last year with my husband. I have gone from 255 to 224 :hurray:. My husband has gone from 260 to 224. We are losing about 1 lb a week on average. I know that what we have done is very good and we feel very proud of our efforts.

The problem for me is that in losing my weight yoyo's too much. From week to week (we weight on Sunday) the weight goes something like this: 224, 228, 225, 223, 227, 226, 224, 225, 228, 224, etc..... OMG, I am ready to pull my hair out!! WHY does it go up and down like that??? Last week I was 223 this week I am 226. My diet remains the same.

Any and all input will be helpful. I feel like I am losing my enthusiasm and will to go on. It's too frustrating. sigh....:ack2:

Hi Im new and looking for a friendly community

I my name is Angie...I am a few days away from being 18 and I loath my body. I have made the choice to lose weight and have tried many many diets but I never seem to say on them for long...my current and highest weight is 326lbs and I am 5 foot 11 inches tall. I lost down to 283lbs and then my dad got locked up in jail (I am an emotional eater) I ended up gaining it all back and then some. I am here because I need a group of people I can come to in times of weakness, I live with overweight family and they enable me to continue to gain weight but I wont blame it on them when they tell me it's their fault because I could just say no to the food but I dont...because I am weak.

I hope this can be kind of like a second family for me here.

Hi I'm new and looking for support!

I've done all the diets and even had gastric bypass. I still ate around it and sadly I'm back to where I started. I eat when stressed and I'm on some meds that cause wt gain. Talking to doc Friday about getting off abilify. I'm at 240 and I'm 45. I want to see next year at 155. I'm using hydroxycut for appetite suppressant and drinking lots of water. Today is day one!

Hey everyone! (: I'm Joslyn!

I am Joslyn and I was just wanting to find some other people in the same rutt as I am in. I just can't seem to get back in shape. I'm completely clueless as to how this works.. So I feel a little lost. Hopefully I can find my motivation using this forum!

Hello from India :)

Hi all,

I am a 24 year old girl from India, who is on a constant struggle to lose weight. I hope I get the motivation to get at least one dress size smaller in one year!

Cheers

Stuck.

Hi everyone!

I just recently became a member of the Weight Loss Forum. You are all so inspirational! It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to done what you all have done. Keep up the great work!

I'm on this thread today because I'm stuck. Personally, I don't have a lot of weight to lose, I focus more on toning. I've been taking progress photos of myself since late February so I can see myself making progress, but I feel very discouraged by what I see. I've made a huge change in my diet -- cut out carbs, no carbonated drinks, very little snacking, and eating more protein. I've also been doing high intensity interval workouts, about three or four times a week.

I'm 5'8'' and I currently weigh 150. I weighed about 170-ish at my highest. A lot of the weight came off in early college because I lived right next to the gym and ate a lot of salad (because I was too lazy to stand in line to wait for burgers and pizza). I'm not one who cares for the numbers on the scale. I base my weight loss more so on my progress photos and how my clothes are fitting.

I don't think I'm fat and I love all my curves, but I do have body image issues because I grew up in an Asian family where skinny was the norm. Although I don't want to be stick skinny -- I want to feel fit and look fit, but I feel like I'm plateauing in terms of physical changes to my body. Part of the problem for me is that my weight fluctuates very, very easily. I'll look one way one week, and the next week I'll look different. Perhaps it's all in my head, but after I started taking progress photos, it's a constant struggle for me to not nit-pick over minor changes.

The photos are in different order...Sorry...I wasn't sure how to change it online.

photo 1-2.jpgphoto 1.jpgphoto 2-2.jpgphoto 2.jpgphoto 3.jpg

If there's anything that anyone can suggest to me at this point, please do share. I would definitely appreciate it! :)

Who know well about Yoga?

Hello everybody i don't have knowledge about Yoga exercise so can anybody tell me about benefits of this exercise.

Kate craving a healthy mind and body!!

Hello!!

I'm back AGAIN!!!!! you know what, I wasn't going to go into details about me and just say 'yeah, I'm back, trying again' for probably the 5th time but then realised that it will probably help me to write all (not that there is loads) So here goes.

My name is Kate. I'm 40 and I live with my loving other half (I hate the word 'partner' and he really is my other half) of 24 years and our 15 year old son. I have an amazing family and wonderful friends but at the moment I am struggling with depression and anxiety issues but I'm on meds and getting help sorted with therapy.

Nearly three years ago I found this site and started a diary. With the help of some amazing people on here, that I still class as dear dear friends (and even my online mum ;) ) I went from a size 18-20 couch potato to a size 10-12 running machine!!!!! I'm now 203lbs  and I had got down to 155lb. so so bloody mad with myself!!!

Lots has happened in these few years (bereavement, job loss, changes, GIVING UP SMOKING!!!!!!! etc) and I've managed to get back up to a size 16. I am totally, completely and utterly disgusted with myself. I hate going anywhere now, knowing that people with be thinking 'ha, she's put it all back on'. I don't really bother with my appearance anymore and I live in jeans and hoodies again.

But today is going to be a new dawn and I will change the rot that has set in!! Please note that I have not said HOPEFULLY. I have done that in the past and it has probably given me the excuse to quit. Well, I am not going to quit. I can't! I can't stay feeling like this. I really really hate myself and don't want to.

I was going to do slimming world but for me I think it is open to abuse (ooooooooh, I can eat my own body weight in pasta lol) so I'm going to count calories like I did last time. I am starting an 'insanity' class on Wednesday night and they are going to weigh and measure me there, i'll get them to take some photo's too. I know that my scales will be different to theirs so I am going to stick to what mine say for my forum. I am going to try going for a run on Saturday  haven't run for bloody ages....gonna be hard. We have just got a new 'rescue' dog who needs lots of walks so I am now out at 6am each morning walking them (I had another dog already)

Right people, lets get this going. (check out my positive attitude :) )

Bad Habit VS Nutrition

My boyfriend likes white bread the best for his sandwiches in his work lunch. Problem for me, is I like white bread like it's cake, and have been home during the day. It's been rainy and miserable and I'm totally bread munching for no reason.

I know it's a bad habit thing. SO, best thing I can think of is freeze his bread, pulling out only the slices as needed for him and hope that keeps it out of my mind.

Any habit breaking suggestions or similar struggles beat?

do you ever heard of YAZIO? Neither do I ...until yesterday! When I searched a new calorie counter to shape my body for the summer time, I found YAZIO at the android app store. Seeming a very new app. I was really surprised by the very nice design and easy and fast to use usability.

What experiences do you have done with other apps?

Here the link to the app I have spoken (I hope I can drop it :)): http://ift.tt/1fcQK6M

i can see a rainbow

Hi .My name is Jessica i am nearlly 33 years old and a mother of a 5year old boy!Today i weigh 100,6 kg's.

A couple of years ago i managed to loose mch weight and got down to nearlly 75 kg's,feeling great. Then i just let go and balloned up to my current weight.

I knew i was fat again,i stoped getting compliments from others and they where replaced again with |you must go on a diet|

I actually felt so great at 78 kg\s that i didnt want to loose anymore weight////

Crazy ?Wow cant wait for that feeling to come again!

I am dealling with a lot a lot a lot of stresfull situations ,generally this year has been only bad for me/us.It was NOT the reason for me getting this fat again,i had already put on so much before the start of this year. But i do belive it is the reason i just cant get myself starded on a healthy eating plan.

I used to go running thanks to this forum.I mananged to run for 30 minutes straight and i loved it.now i feel to heavy and teribble to go outside and do that.I must loose at least 10 kg's before attempting that.

i have a stationery bike and a little stepper here at home.I think i shall start with these.

I need to be strict about coming on here, not letting go,i need to feel that this is my base.Something really steady.

This journey is not just about me loosing weight.ITs about trying to stay positive and strong through difficult situations. Its about managing stress.its about my life change towards something better.Life is too short to be angry.I wont be angry with myself for my weight gain.I will try to welcome a new change in my life starting from today.

I ll be logging in at night when my food is finished for the day.

Lots of love to al you out there trying for a better you!

Hair loss Treatment method

Hair transplant is the technique which is used to get rid of baldness and to get hair loss back again. In this doctor use new techniques to put hair from back to front of head side. Now doctor use new technology so it give no pain during treatment but it is costly way so people are ignore this method and choose natural way to treat hair loss, natural hair loss treatment is also best and no side effect but it take long time to treat and if you can afford for surgery then you should go for it and if other methods failed. You should also use hair spa massage or oil massage for your self which is good way to strong your hair follicles and it help to growth of hair. You should use natural hair care products after surgery and use normal water for hair wash instead of warm or hot water.

Dumpy the diet disaster tries again.

This post is just a copy of the one I put on the introduction thread. Diary starts on next post

I was on here last year and doing well. Shopping, cooking and eating sensibly. The weight dropped off slowly but that was what I wanted. I wasn’t on a diet I was on, with my husband, a life style change.

Well, bad habits have gradually crept back and the weight has piled on. I have no excuses at all. I am, quite simply, a disaster. My husband has kept his exercise up and is doing well but I am like the Goodyear blimp.

My best friend has been doing the ‘Shake that Weight’ diet. A low carb soup and shake mix, available on the net here in the UK and has lost a huge amount of weight. She’s looking for a diet buddy because her old one has fallen off the wagon and there I was, sitting on the bottom of the barrel when she started scraping it.

We have a new kitchen-diner being put in on May 5th. It will take 2 weeks so most meals will either be done on the barbeque, caravan or cobbled together using the microwave and Actifry in the sitting room. I know it would be sensible to wait until after the work is finished but the way I’m going I dread to think what I will weight then. At least I can stop the rot a bit now and mentally I feel as if I am taking control again. My box of shakes will arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait. I’m going to take it 2 stones (28lbs) at a time. If I had a ticker for the whole lot I have to lose it would be so daunting I’d give up

This time round I don’t deserve the sympathy and support I had last time I was on here. This is the friendliest and nicest forum on the web and I feel as if I have let everyone down. Dumpy… more like fat Alice!

I want to be a track star!!!!

Hi! I have noted with interest that there are a lot of members who are training to run on here! I'm joining to help me stay motivated and have a place to chat about challenges and strengths vs weakness.

I like competing and so I hope I can spring board from the successes I see here as I challenge myself.

This week major goal is to reestablish my proper water intake and stop eating the boyfriend's white bread.

It's raining and I have an awful cold, so for today at least, I'm not even talking about my fitness goals.

ABSOLUTELY FREE Personalized Weight Loss Program, only 4 spots!

Hi,

I was fat kid at some point in my life. At the age of 19, I decided "enough" and started losing weight and gaining lean mass. It took me years to get to 100kg with only 12% body fat, perfect yes? Not really. I got married last year and gained 7 KILOS OF PURE FAT in 2 months, depressing and... IT SUCKS!

One thing I did not feel like, is going back on my strict diet and do cardio (I really hate cardio and really like cakes, sounds familiar?). So I went for a search of some more aggressive solutions that DOES NOT include drugs though. I was also looking for a better training routine, because I was really fed up spending 4 hours/week at the gym.

I was able to transform my body in just 2 months, now at 105kg and 14% body fat, not bad for 107kg at 20% body fat back in February. My wife went from 73kg to 68kg and lost few inches without exercising. YOU can do! I want to prove it for FREE!

What I am offering is complete diet and training plan. I would like to help people who have some real issues. If you have just last 2 pounds to lose, you know what to do and I can't help you. But if:

- You want to lose 5-10 kilos of fat in 1-2 months

- Want to gain 7-10 kilos of lean mass

Then let's do it!

It will be tough, it takes self discipline. I can promise you though that it will be:

- no drugs involved. You will need to take some minerals, but this is it.

- no expensive whey powders

- no need to eat all organic (so if you are on the budget, you can actually SAVE MONEY with this diet)

- no spending 10 hours/week at the gym. Time spent exercising will be about 1.5-2 hours/week and it is not a MUST, you can do without it.

- no crossfit style training to destroy your joints

- no starving. You will be actually eating every day

- It will be FUN. Contests, award, discussions inside the group. The point is to have fun in life no matter what you are doing.

But why do I do it for free? Because I want to charge for the course later . I need testimonials and happy customers first. And yes, I reserve the right to use whatever comes out of this program as my promotional material.

P.S. AT LEAST ONE GIRL should be on. The best is to have 2-2, so ladies, do not be shy.

P.P.S. PM me with very short description of where you are right now and where you want to be. For example "I am 35 years old male, 320 pounds, want to lose weight", or "I am 30 y.o. lady, 140 pounds and need to lose inches", or "I am 25% bodyfat, need to get it down"

P.P.P.S You can invite your buddies, it is always fun to do it with someone else.

Hurry up, only 4 spots! And whatta hell, it is absolutely free!

Did anybody who started dieitng not lose weight at first?

Hi all,

it's been 8 days, and the scale still hasn't budged. I'm eating between 1,200-1,500 net calories a day. The scale has only gone down 1/5 of a pound. I'm hoping it's because of salt...:lurk5: Did anyone have a similar experience when beginning a new diet?

Keeping Your Weight Loss Permanent

Losing weight is a sometimes daunting task but when successful it is a cause for great pride. Keeping the weight off is also a hard job but with some key guidelines to help it is possible to keep the weight off and enjoy yourself at the same time.

How You Eat

First, it is important that in your original plan you accomplished the loss in a healthy way with a good variety of healthy foods and exercises that fit your lifestyle and attitude. This is important because to maintain your new healthy lifestyle you will need to permanently incorporate your new eating habits and exercise regime. Variety and things that suit your pace of life is the best way to stay the course with your new healthy lifestyle.

A Healthy Attitude

You need to reinforce a positive mindset in your new habits for eating and exercising. Making sure you keep with your new routine is important and keeping an upbeat view about your new habits is vital. Exercise

Exercise is a crucial step in maintaining your new lifestyle. There is a huge variety of exercises and styles of workouts. You have no excuse in not finding something to suit your schedule and temperament. It's important to remember that while you can take off weight with just wholesome and nutritious eating habits adding a cardio and weight-lifting program greatly increases your chances of losing more weight and maintaining it over time.

Motivation and Support

Sharing your goals with some friends or your family can be a good motivator and an additional help in staying the course for a healthier you. Even better include them in your new weight loss arrangement, it's an excellent way to keep up your enthusiasm and attitude.

Carefully Choose Your Weight Loss Plan

Remember to choose carefully in your weight loss ideas and plans as well as the people you let on to your intentions. You do not want any negative thoughts or feelings to hamper your goals. Losing weight can be fun and interesting if you approach it with a positive attitude. Learning about new foods and workout styles can be quite enjoyable. Need food tips

After a limited amount of research, I come to conclusion that really I can't pick up anything from the interwebs as every other thing I read contradicts with one prior.

I've finally managed to get into a workout routine, and now I only need to fix my bad eating habits. I'm not looking for a diet, but a complete meal redesign. It's easy to look up some hard to make/come by foods, but what is it that a usual healthy person eats. Like if you are one of those people who work out constantly and live only from healthy meals, what do you usually prepare? I'm having a really hard time finding anything but fruits to eat that are relatively simple to make, and would end up being the usual thing on my menu as a 'healthy person'.

I also wonder what do people eat if they are one the "eat every 2 hours" scheme? I'm finding it hard to transition, especially with having a job that doesn't let me have a snack any time I desire, so I don't know would this be for me, but I'd like to try. Would it work better if I had a reasonably sized meal in the mornings and then have like a orange or something every now and then when I get a chance? I also have a roller coaster time table, and one day I might have to be at work from 5pm to 3am and in two days it would change to 5am - 3pm. A guy at gym one told me to eat at the same time every day so my body learns to expect food, is there anything I can do with a chaotic schedule to accomplish this?

Cheers.

Weight loss advices

Losing weight and keeping it off isn't difficult - all you need is a few changes and the motivation to get you started. Not sure where to begin? Have a look at these great tips for easy weight loss...

2) Exercise to Maintain Weight Loss

Exercise helps you burn fat and calories and also helps boost your metabolic rate, even when you're resting so try to work your way up to doing a 30 minute workout 5 days a week.

3) Measure Food Amounts at Home

Weigh out foods and don't eat too much of the 'wrong' thing. For example if a recipe tells you to use 2tbsp dressing, don't go over this as a few more excess measurements all adds up to excess calories.

4) Still Eat Foods you Like

Have a rare treat so that you don't feel too deprived - just don't let a small treat turn into a big binge of crisps, chocolate, alcohol and fast food - you'll destroy all the hard work you've put in!

5) Think Long Term - Not Short Term

Losing weight fast is what everyone wants, but losing weight slowly actually allows your body to adjust and keep weight off for longer. Set goals for losing weight but think of it as a long term venture.

6) Savour Your Food

When you eat - enjoy it! Chew and enjoy the textures and flavours of your food - this will keep you fuller for longer and will reduce the likelihood of you reaching for the unhealthy snacks later.

7) Increase Workout Intensity

As a beginner you may be able to manage short workouts 2-3 times a week. Find the time to exercise and gradually increase your workout program to help you keep the weight off.

8) Keep Motivated

Buy yourself treats such as new clothes to celebrate your weight loss, work towards your goals such as having energy to play in the garden with your children - anything that keeps you motivated.

9) Weigh Yourself Once a Week

Weighing yourself everyday is a bad idea - weight fluctuates when muscle mass etc is varying. Have a weekly weigh in (i.e. on Monday morning before breakfast) and use it as motivation for the next week's weight loss.

10) Enjoy Your Workout!

Performing the same workout day after day means that your body gets used to it, therefore making it less effective each time you do it. Varying your workout keeps it exciting and if you're enjoying it, you're more likely to put more effort in. Go cycling, swim, do dance classes, play football in the park, go jogging and mix up your workout regime and your body will continue to burn fat.

How does drinking more water help us to burn body fat ?

Everyone always says it’s good to drink a lot of water to help to lose fat. I hear people say it to each other every day like schizophrenic parrots.

“You should drink more water!” “You don’t drink enough water!” “You should drink more water, because it will help with your fat loss…” – blah, blah, blah.

Ever have someone explain to you how water helps you to lose fat? I bet no one can explain it to you. Most people tell you to drink more water to lose fat, but few know the reason why.

So, how does drinking more water help us to burn body fat?

Stay with me on this and read carefully. This will make you a star during the next water conversation you have.

From the standpoint of fat loss, you want to be in a position metabolically where the liver is converting stored fat to energy. The liver has other functions, but this is one of its main jobs.

Unfortunately, another of the liver’s responsibilities is to pick up the slack for the kidneys, which need a lot of water to work properly. Actually, your kidneys need a lot more water than most people realize.

If the kidneys are water-deprived, the liver has a double duty assignment. It has to do the work of the kidneys along with its own work. This double time assignment only serves to lower the actual productivity of the liver. It then can’t metabolize fat as quickly as it could when the kidneys do their job with efficiency.

If you allow this to happen, not only are you being unfair to your liver, but you’re also setting yourself up to store fat because you’ve made the liver less efficient at turning stored body fat into energy.

So, you’ve learned how vital the roles of the liver and kidneys are, but now the question becomes how much water?

When examining the research, there is a paper in the Journal of the American Dietetics Association (Volume 99, number 2, pages 200-206, 1999) that discusses water requirements:

“To be well hydrated, the average sedentary adult man must consume at least 2,900mL (12 cups) fluid per day, and the average sedentary adult woman at least 2,200mL (9 cups) fluid per day, in the form of non-caffeinated, nonalcoholic beverages, soups, and foods. Solid foods contribute approximately 1,000mL (4 cups) water, with an additional 250mL (1 cup) coming from the water of oxidation.”

The paper also states that “Dehydration of as little as 2-percent loss of body weight results in impaired physiological and performance responses.”

To summarize, it appears that sedentary individuals require approximately 9-12 cups of water per day (4 cups come from food, 1 cup from metabolism and 4-7 cups from fluid intake). The lower numbers are for females and higher numbers for males. Personally, I like the higher numbers for both males and females alike.

Unfortunately there is very little research concerning how much fluid is actually needed for those who workout intensely. So, add more if you workout, but do so within reason. Now, with glasses held high, let’s toast to your new healthy body.

'Tis the Season to Eat and Not Gain

Do you tend to gain weight during the holiday season? If so, you're not alone. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, research suggests that Americans, on average, gain about one pound during the holiday season and those who are overweight already will likely gain a bit more. So, what's a pound or so - no big deal - right? Well, in fact it is a big deal because if you don't lose that weight soon after the holidays, it can easily add up. A mere pound or two each year can become ten or twenty pounds before you know it. And, let's face it, trying to lose ten or twenty pounds down the road will be a lot harder than avoiding a one or two pound gain now.

Powerful Weight Loss Tip: Don't let the holiday pounds add up.

Weight gain can be minimized (even avoided) during the holiday season with the right mindset and a plan. Check out these simple strategies to help you ring in the New Year without tipping the scale in the wrong direction.

Keep up with exercise. Your exercise routine can easily get disrupted during this busy season if you let it. Don't let it! Make a point to stay on track with exercise by scheduling time for it; put it on your calendar just as you would a doctor's appointment or work meeting. Studies show that people who exercise are more successful at maintaining their weight loss than people who don't. Exercise is an essential element of weight management - as well as overall health and wellbeing.

Eat at least three meals a day. Start your day with a nourishing breakfast including some fiber and protein, and then proceed to eat every 3 - 4 hours. Having small meals and snacks throughout the day will help to control your appetite and you will be less likely to grab something without thinking. And that's a good thing because unplanned calories can add up quickly.

Use the plate method. To avoid consuming large portions at parties and family gatherings (or anytime), use a smaller plate. And then fill your plate mostly with vegetables and salad before going for the entrees and starchy carbs. This "keep it simple stupid" strategy really works.

Slow down and be mindful. Studies show that people who eat their meals in a slower fashion tend to consume less and weigh less as well. One reason for this is that it takes approximately 20 minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to send out signals of fullness. Leisurely eating allows ample time for this to happen. And feeling full translates into eating less. If you are a speed eater and struggle with this, one thing you can do to help you slow down your pace is to drink more water as you eat. Slowly savor every bite, and before you go back for seconds wait at least 15 minutes to make sure you are really still hungry.

Enjoy your favorite holiday foods. Last but not least, it's important to enjoy your holiday traditions - including the eating. Making a decision to avoid weight gain this year doesn't mean you need to give up all of your favorite foods. In fact, this approach can actually work against you. Being too strict can lead to feelings of deprivation and this is a sure fire way to set yourself up for a cheat. And once that happens, you're likely to feel disappointed, discouraged, and defeated. So, instead of cutting out your favorite foods altogether, eat them in moderation.

5 Easy Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

#1 Do Not By Pass Your Morning Meal

The breakfast meal leap starts your metabolic process and helps you to avoid bingeing later on during the day. A cup of joe doesn't count - the caffeine intake and additional sugar may give you a little bit of energy and manage your craving for a short while it's certain to once again come back again into " severe " food craving and you'll be prone to overindulge later on. The morning meal needs to include complex carbohydrates such as whole fiber (oatmeal or granola), together with the right fat (milk or low-fat yogurt), keeping your energy levels even and food cravings under control.

#2 Try To Eat More Frequently

Jump into the routine of eating every 3 to 4 hours or at a minimum 4 times each and every day. Eating often balances blood sugar levels, when blood sugar levels drop too low you'll want to eat more. Simply by keeping the blood sugar levels steady you are able to take control of your urge for food while keeping your metabolism high. When you're going several hours without eating the body will certainly make up for it by slowing down to save energy…this effects your weight loss effort.

#3 Eat Healthy Proteins At Each Meal

Necessary protein will help you to minimize your urge for food, it requires more energy and time to absorb, essentially you are full longer than eating carbs alone. Research demonstrates that consuming more protein will help you lose weight while not cutting calories. Try these protein choices: turkey on whole wheat grains; pita and hummus; vegetable chili; nuts and fruit; or protein snack food bars that have twelve or even more grams of healthy proteins.

#4 Put Off On Snacking

A lot of us pick up a snack for fast energy when we're beginning to feel exhausted. However don't mistake fatigue with true hunger. So if you're feeling worn out take a 15-20 minute brisk stroll. This will increase your pulse rate and provide you with a boost of energy. Follow it up by having a good sized glass of cold water. If you're really feeling hungry enjoy a healthy protein and complex carb rich treat such as; wheat or grain crackers and cheese or peanut butter.

#5 Take In As Much As Necessary For The Body’s Needs

Eating not enough decreases your body’s metabolic process exactly the same way eating to sporadically will do. If you need to lose weight, don't cut your calorie consumption too dramatically. Rather, eliminate a few of the extras in your daily diet - stuff like pop, fruit juice, packed candy or goods. Highly processed food items are usually loaded with calories and fat and also low in fiber, minerals and vitamins.

Addicted to sugar - HELP

Hey

I'm 20 years old and have tried for the last few months to lose a bit of weight. I ideally want to lose 20 pounds but am really struggling. I eat good healthy meals and have started exercising properly and often the last couple weeks. But I have a problem with sugar, particularly chocolate. I can't get enough of it and am always craving it! It's definitely stopping me from losing weight and whenever I do lose a few pounds I gain them all back with the nasty stuff!

I'd love some help with how to overcome my problem and have people to talk to about my weight loss journey!

Thanks x

My Weight loss journey, Before and After. 125 pounds Lost

So... my story is like this... I grew up with overweight parents who never took care of themselves.. they never taught me to not eat sweets.. to not eat bad things... I grew up being abused by my mom and her boyfriends... so I used food as a outlet... to cope with the pain... I am crying tears of joy writing this... Because it has taken so much to lose 100 pounds... I grew up with self-confidence issues... I did not love myself and did not care about my body.. for a long time.. I weight at my heaviest 410 pounds... I had tried every diet out there in the world... from the atkins diet.. - master cleanser... I tried it all.. even joined a gym... None of it worked... none of it helped me... It was not until I learned to love myself and see myself as beautiful.. that I could begin to lose the weight.. I had tried so many times in the past and failed miserably.. sure I lost the weight but gained double back... It was not until a near death experience I had.. I learned to appreciate life.. and to love myself... When I weighed 410 pounds.. I had hyper-tension.. was on the verge of type 2 diabetes... I was not going to live until 30 The doctor told me I would have a heart attack before the age of 30.. I started last year... in march my journey of loving myself... taking care of myself.. I joined the gym.. this time.. not giving up.. I begin working out slowly but surely.. I had to change my diet as well... It began with not eating a whole bag of doritos.. a 3 liter of soda.. a half gallon of ice cream.. everyday.. that is what I consumed.. and fast food on top of it.. I was so out of shape... I wanted to lose weight more than anything else.. I wanted this.. more than anything.. so I started changing my diet... I started not eating the bad stuff... and starting adding in fruits and veggies... eating smoothies, brown rice, chicken breast. It took a long time to transition from that state of mind... and a lot of blood..sweat.. and tears... It was extremely difficult... as I was working out.. I noticed more and more.. I lost weight.. as I decreased my intake of calories and increased my output of cardio.. I went from barely being able to jog on the treadmill for 10 mins.. to now I can do cardio for 3 hours... My body itself is in great shape.. and I have a lot of endurance. I can do more physical activity.. than people who look like they are in good shape. I feel healthier.. happier.. it has not been easy... But it has been worth it.. Part of me never thought I would make it this far.. but damn I am proud and amazed of myself... I still have another 80 pounds to go.. but I know I can do it.. I love the gym.. it is a part of my life. It is like my second home.. Now I do not care what others thing about me.. I went from size 58 pants.. to size 42.. I have not worn that size since highschool! This is my story.. See my before and after photos!!mebefore2.jpgmebefore.jpgmeasofnow2.jpgmeasofnow1.jpg
