Hello. :-)

I'm new so just saying hi,I'm Sian and from the UK. Hope you are all doing great x

New comer with a head start !

Hey all ! New to the forum, I figured I would introduce myself. Everyone calls me Manou, I'm 20 years young, and like many of you, I want to get in shape after ALOT of binging ^^' . In December, I attempted to bike ride route 66 (hence the profile picture) , and a tendonitis got in the way of the trip. When I got back home there wasn't a minute where I wasn't eating, almost to the point that I wanted to hurl because I was so full (Thanks Chips Ahoy ! ). Waking up with 25 pounds gained 'just like that' , was a punch in the face. My mom saying " WOAH I have never seen you so heavy ! " . Realizing that I couldn't even do pushup ( still barely can ^^) or that I get tired after dancing 5 minutes with friends. Any who , at 158 lbs I changed my diet little by little, and started to cook everything, especially filling veggies (Eggplant, Zuchinni...), and I joined Weight Watchers. Since last week I started being active, biking, running, and some strength exercises. So far I lost 14 lbs in 2 1/2 months and I still have 20 to go ( I have never been at that weight so that would be reeealllyyy cool ! ) I get that its a long introduction but I want to be a part of the forum, because I think motivation is key, and it's my first time on any forum ! Thanks for reading and if anyone has advice or has any motivational stories I would love to read them !

Do you know the truth about the real cost of getting slim?

Do you have hate or love relationship with your food?

When you make decision to shed the pounds and go on a diet, there is a small part of you who secretly doesn’t want to give up all of the yummy snacks.

At the begging, it doesn’t bother you so much.

You know what you want and feel motivated.

But the moment hunger and food cravings appear, you start feeling deprived and frustrated. The weight loss journey becomes a struggle and you might say to yourself something like “No pain no gain!”

That’s when most of the dieters sooner or later reach the breaking point. Many of them end up munching on the ‘bad’ food. Sometimes people carry on this vicious cycle again and again hoping to see different results. Sounds insane?

The truth is that majority of very successful people have coaches, mentors, and trainers. If you want to achieve the slim and toned shape you deserve, you need somebody who will take you beyond the point when you would typically stop.

Right now, you might decide to continue the insane weight loss journey on your own or you might choose to set yourself up for success. The decision you make today will affect not only your body shape but self esteem and confidence.

The little choices we make in the moment are results of where we are right now. So if you are for example 10 pounds heavier than your ideal weight, you’ve made decisions that are not in line with your weight loss goals.

It’s so typical to make success about the diet and the exercise. Most of the slimming programs emphasize the end results:

“Lose 10 pounds in three days!”

“Flat tummy workout”

“Best fat burning pills”

“Get the sexy beach body”

But the real truth about weight loss success is that it’s really not sexy at all. That’s because it’s not only about shedding the pounds but maintaining the slim shape once you get there.

The real weight loss is about the choices you make each and every moment.

Each meal time and each snack time every day.

Every workout and every exercise.

• Go for an early jogging when you’d rather be in bed.

• Quit snacking with the family while watching television.

• Maintain healthy diet when the scale goes up.

• Resist cravings when you’d just as soon give up.

• Practice slow and mindful eating for the rest of your life.

How long will it take you to reach your target?

:nopity:While it might be tempting to slash your calorie intake considerably in an effort to lose weight fast, you shouldn’t aim to shift more than 2lb a week – although you may lose slightly more than this when you first start slimming as your body gets rid of water as well as fat. In the long term though, a weight loss of more than 2lb a week means you’ll have to cut calories excessively – and ultimately, this will make it even harder to shift those pounds. Effectively, very low calorie intakes simply push the body into ‘starvation mode’ so that it becomes super efficient at making the most of the calories it actually gets from food and drink. It does this by protecting its fat stores and instead using lean tissue or muscle to provide it with some of the calories it needs to keep functioning. This leads to a loss of muscle, which in turn lowers metabolism so that the body needs fewer calories to keep ticking over and weight loss slows down – not ideal if you want to shift unwanted pounds!:seeya:

Interested in Losing Weight? -What You Need to Know Before Getting Started-

Weight loss can be achieved either by eating fewer calories or by burning more calories with physical activity, preferably both.

A healthy weight loss program consists of:

  • A reasonable, realistic weight loss goal

  • A reduced calorie, nutritionally-balanced eating plan

  • Regular physical activity

:nopity:

Keep in Mind

  • Even a small amount of weight loss can lead to big health benefits

  • Strive to develop good habits to last a lifetime

  • Discuss weight loss with your doctor before getting started

Losing Weight Too Fast

Hello Everyone,

Alright, a little bit of background on me. I've been dealing with non-alcoholic fatty liver off and on for about five years now, one of the things I'm trying to get under control by way of appropriate weight loss. I don't like feeling a range of sudden sharp pains to lingering dull aches in my side.

Recently I've been dealing with some heavy anxiety due to other issues in my life, which have cause me to eat a lot less than normal, pace around my apartment at night, sweat profusely, etc. This went on for almost two weeks. Due to medications I'm doing better now, however in that two weeks I dropped at least 15 pounds, closer to 20 though. Don't know my exact weight before it started by I know it was in the mid-320's, but it's been as low as 307. I think I got it stabalized at 310 now. Last Saturday on the 22nd, I felt that familiar sharp pain in my right side under my ribcage, and since then the same dull ache. Signs of a liver getting large and pushing against the outer membrane which cases such pain, according to my doctor anyway.

I've read that liver damage or worsening of things like non-alcoholic fatty liver can actually be made worse if you lose too much weight too quickly. Before this started I thought I had it under control but with this happening apparently not. I maintain a 4 to 5 day a week exercise routine, half hour of medium cardio each time, and I'm pretty good about eating healthy foods, so it's not a case of fatty liver due to me shrinking back on old bad habits.

My guess is that it came back because I lost that much weight that quickly and the liver didn't like it much. Thoughts on this?

Thanks,

William

Hello!

Hello everyone, I'm William. I've been on my weight loss crusade for about three months now and have shrugged off about 30 lbs since this started. I've got questions though which I'll be posting in the Weight Loss and Medical Conditions forum, but before that I wanted to say hello. :)

Stuck in the weight loss-gain cycle?

Hi! My name is Malena Smush and I have been working in the health and fitness industry for over a past decade helping women to meet their weight loss goals and overcome the war in their heads against their bodies, food and life itself.

I struggled with my weight as a teenager after my parents separated. We had moved house so many times, I never developed any lasting friendships and food became my only comfort while escaping the tormented feelings of ‘never fitting in’ or ‘never being good enough’.

I forced myself to lose weight countless times with dieting and exercising only to ‘lose it’ and end up overeating again and again. I hated myself, my life and the way I looked. I felt like a failure.

I’ve been always fascinated with the power of our subconscious minds and unexplained spontaneous healing and I came across an amazing breakthrough- the Slim Body Fastrack method that put a stop to all my weight related problems. The negative thoughts about my body suddenly vanished. I no longer experienced any food cravings and the weight loss journey became an effortless and quick process. Before I knew I reached my goals and everyone around me started treating me like an expert asking me for an advice, congratulating and complementing on my new shape. I’ve never felt so proud and so wonderful.

I’ve developed a program for women who want to find the way out of the dieting cycle, shed the pounds and enjoy the rest of their life in an attractive, desirable body.

My passion is to help others who are stuck in the gain-lose weight cycle.

Newbie here :)

Hi Everyone. My name is Karen, 44 year old stay at home mom to 2 special needs boys. I lost about ten pounds before Christmas. I had stopped drinking sodas, eating sweets, etc. Of course once Christmas and all that baking hit I lost control. I'm back on track with drinking water and knocked out the sodas, some control on the sweets, but have a ways to go. Glancing around, I think I'm going to really like this forum. Looks exactly like what I've been looking for. I need the motivation and the accountability. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. :)

Hello everyone

Hi, my name is Jon and i'm from NW Ontario Canada. I'm 21 years old (soon to be 22) and weigh 230lbs. I've struggled over the years with depression, anxiety and of course my weight; all of which tie in together.

My family has a history of thyroid problems (although I don't really understand the whole "thyroid" thing), and have heard it can contribute to a person's weight issues. That is not an excuse though.

I would appreciate it if someone would be kind enough to help me with a fitness and diet plan as I plan on starting at the gym on Monday.

One thing I should add: I have trouble eating sometimes, and often enough my mouth just doesn't want to accept the food.

Garcinia cambogia extract – a Southeast Asian weight-loss secret?

Hey everyone!

Hopefully you're interested in the world of plants and herbal remedies, because wow, do they hold a lot of promise. Nearly every medicine known to mankind originally came from a single plant or a mixture of them, pounded together, boiled, and drunk or prepared and imbibed in some other way. The short of it is, there are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of medicinal plants out there whose properties scientists have barely begun to explore, if they've started it at all.

But there's a different source of knowledge, one that simply doesn't do for science, but that every one of us “normal people” should pay attention to. That is traditional knowledge and herbalism, which most people around the world practice. Unfortunately, Western medicine is often quite categorical and strict in a way that shuts out much traditional medicine practice. Western medicine requires details and specifics of what molecules and chemicals give the beneficial effect, and in reducing it all down to one compound, pretty much ignore the complex interactions that form the basis of traditional medical preparations.

So I've been doing research on the topic, trying to educate myself on little-known traditional medicines and weight-loss aids – that is something that is important for me in my life right now. ;) Have you heard about garcinia cambogia? Do you know anything about it?

I came across the info about it here, from a place called Investigative Reviews. Basically, what the garcinia apparently does, is that it both helps to burn fat as well as slowing down the speed at which the body absorbs new fat. So it's kind of like a two-pronged approach, you know? In traditional cultures, it is used as a purgative – that is, a detox food.

What a lot of people write about traditional herbal medicines is that they're slower-acting than the pills produced by the pharmacological industry, but also much less “sharp” - with less (potentially health-wrecking) side effects, and a gentler effect on the body. I've been burned a few times with really chemical, terrible weight-loss pills that just put me on a crash diet, that left me worse off than when I started. So I think I'm done with that, and want to focus on natural stuff.

Do any of you have any experience with garcinia cambogia? It's still quite new, so I'm not sure what to make of it, but apparently a lot of people have had a good experience with it. :)

A Southeast Asian weight loss secret – Garcinia Cambogia

How much weight do you need to lose?

As a starting point, decide on a reasonable target weight for you. As a guideline, most slimming and weight loss professionals use the Body Mass Index (BMI), which looks at a person’s weight in relation to their height,. A BMI of less than 18.5 is considered to be underweight, 18.5-24.9 indicates a healthy weight, 25-29.9 is overweight and 30 or more is obese. Quite simply, the higher your BMI, the greater your risk of health problems.

Ideally, you should aim for a target weight that gives you a BMI in the healthy weight range (18.5-24.9), but if you have a considerable amount of weight to lose, this may seem extremely daunting and unachievable. Instead, you might prefer to set an initial weight loss that moves you down a couple of BMI notches, or perhaps shifts you from the obese category (BMI more than 30) to the overweight category (BMI 25-29.9). Research shows that losing just 10 percent of excess weight will improve health – and you can always set yourself new goals along the way.:nopity:

No Junk Food Challenge Just in Time For Easter!

Ok, I NEED to do this. Things are just spiraling to be out of control in terms of consuming junk food (including soda) and lack of exercise. I lost my control and have been unable to get it back now for the past two weeks now and it feels like it's only getting worst. Things are getting pretty desperate here. :(

So, I decided to start my own challenge. Even if I'm the only one in it, I'm fine with that, but of course I'd love to have any of you join me as well.

It's very short notice, and I apologize for that, but I'm going to start tomorrow and go through the entire month of April. This may be difficult for a lot of us considering it's the month of Easter, but any progress made is progress made so we'll see what happens.

Here are my goals, hence they are also the rules of this challenge.

- Every day where NO junk food is consumed gets 2pts. By junk food I'm talking candy, ice cream, chips, cakes, sodas, fast food, etc. You get the point.

- For every 15 minutes of exercise, give yourself 1pt up to 4pts a day.

- Set a weekly goal for weight loss. Worrying about weight loss percentages gets to be too complicated, so I'm just setting actual weight loss goals. I'm not going to do points for this because I know some of you aren't bothering with weigh ins so I didn't want to penalize anyone for going this route. So for this part, the weight loss in itself will be the reward. :)

Tomorrow I'll post my morning weight (as I cringe) and then I'll set my goals for the week and will go at it with the goals. Feel free to join in! :)

I am the new one

Dietary control and exercise. It’s true what they say – all you need to do is watch what you eat, and expend more energy than you consume. It’s really that simple.

Change your lifestyle. If you’re calling this a “diet,” then you’re going to gain all the weight back (and more) within a few months of losing it. Diets do not work. Diets are temporary. When you change your dietary lifestyle, however, you’re changing your habits – and you’re putting yourself on track for long-term / continued success and weight maintenance.

Down More Than 10 Kilos With Natural Foods

Natural Fat Burning Foods

Burn fat and lose weight is not easy , but neither is it impossible. We carry a well-defined diet and fat burning workout routine that is constantly made. Both must go hand in hand , as they are the two factors that have more influence on our body when we use or misuse .

Most people who start do have a busy life already defined , always eat the same thing and probably have zero or no physical activity than the move they make every day to get from home to the office or school and back.

If our body is comfortable with this kind of life, for the world will want to change and will fight us at all times when you change your routine.

Perhaps right now you are on the struggle to lose weight , but if you go and give me a lap to your kitchen, I will probably find several foods that FOR NOTHING will help you burn fat, on the contrary.

Ten natural fat burning foods that are essential .

To get started on the right track , I'll show Ten natural foods to burn fat are essential. Make sure you incorporate them into your kitchen as soon as possible . These ten foods should be mixed with good nutrition and exercise habits . Many will seem unbelievable , but believe me it is true, if you do not believe I invite you to try them. They are:

1. Olive Oil : It is another source of monounsaturated fatty acids which helps us control our cravings.

Two . Green Tea : Besides being delicious helps speed up our metabolism and decrease our cravings quickly.

Three . Almonds: In general most of the nuts are great for weight loss because of its high content of monounsaturated fats. We help fight cravings at any time of day and are another option for snacking .

April . Sweet Potato : It is loaded with nutrients and fiber .

May . Fruits: Most are high in fiber, low in calories, carbohydrates and loaded with vitamins that help keep us energized throughout the day ... [More Info on the link below ]

Lifting weights faster - Jen Sinkler.

And you can. Because — here’s a shocker — you don’t have to put yourself through long, laborious workouts to get the physique you want.

You see, new research shows that lifting weights is, in many ways, better than traditional cardio for fat loss, performance, and overall health.

But if you really want to see the best results possible, you don’t just need to “lift weights.”

You need to lift weights faster.

And I mean that literally: you take traditional weight training exercises and do them faster, in every sense of the word. Lift the weights more explosively; decrease rest periods between sets; finish the workout more quickly and spend LESS time in the gym.

And when you do this correctly, it’s cardio and strength training at the same time, say more recent studies. Instead of going two steps forward and one step back (like most fitness programs), you’ll get the best of both worlds. [More Information click on the website below]

Skinny Fiber

Hey, everyone! I'm new to the forum. I have recently started my weight loss journey. In January, I started taking Skinny Fiber, at the recommendation of my mother. I am terrible at remembering to take pills, so I wasn't doing it faithfully and I wasn't seeing results. In February, I realized that I was wasting my time and money by not giving the product a chance to work. I began taking it faithfully toward the end of February. By the beginning of March, I was already starting to see results! When I went online to order a new bottle, I decided to sign up for autoship and paid $10 to just become a distributor. I'm down 11 pounds and feel great every day! I haven't made any major changes to my lifestyle. It works by naturally suppressing your appetite. There are no chemicals or hormones or junk in it. It's just three natural ingredients and an enzyme complex. Normally, I am against stuff like this. I've been pitched a ton of diets and have even tried a few things (green coffee extract, slim fast, shakeology, just to name a few). But this one is ACTUALLY different. The only reason I am promoting this product is because I have been so positively affected by it and know so many other people who have personally benefitted from this product.

If you want to learn more about it, watch the (kind of cheesy) video at : http://ift.tt/1rGhI9C

PM me if you have any questions. I'm looking for friends to share my weight loss journey with!

How I Lost 132 Pounds by Eating my Favorite Foods

Linda Adamyk presents her program for weight loss:

"Many people ask, is natural weight loss possible? Well, I've lost 132 pounds without using anything unnatural. And I believe that you, and every other woman, can repeat my success and lose those annoying pounds.

This system differs a lot from anything you've read or heard about. In fact, the hardest thing about it is correcting your mindset. it is not difficult to eat right, but it is difficult to make yourself think in another way, to throw away all your doubts is difficult but must be done before you can reach your goal. But never fear, I'm here to walk you through it. In fact, I went through everything I have written about and recommend. I know what difficulties you may face in the daily moments this book will take you through. When I first began to think about losing weight, I tried first to look to see what my friends were up to. My friends kept to some very rigid diets all the time, rigid diets I tried too. I starved myself for weeks before returning to good nutrition again, and in the end my weight actually grew at an incredible rate. Nobody can stick to these diets forever, they're impractical. Even vaunted diets mean limitations on carbohydrates, juices, and so on.

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against taking a look at label before purchasing the product and taking another one with a lower fat / caloric content. In fact, it is often quite easy to find an almost identical product that's lower in calories. But to keep within a certain number of calories, while weighing the food? It's already difficult because you have to check the money total of your food, let alone counting calories. I object to extra stress being put on your body.

Now when lots of people have turned away from highly rigid diets, they often go to the other extreme. There is another category of diets that begin, as a rule like "You can eat anything you want, and still lose weight". However, when you open the book, you see that in fact not everything is allowed.

My system also includes attitude adjustments, not only regarding yourself, but also life in general. Without these adjustments, you are unlikely to fully realize your mistakes and be able to successfully keep weight in norm. Modern people often make a lot of mistakes, like forgetting how to listen to themselves, always rushing around, too busy to hear their own inner voice. As a result, food intake ends up leading to irreversible external and internal changes. Women eat more and get bigger. Chronic pain and illnesses appear, you feel worse, you try to break this vicious circle, but you can’t, so you try again and again and still fail. The hope that something can be changed keeps melting every day. In the end, you just give up. All you need is to look at some problems from a different angle and make small amendments to the everyday habits to gain different results."

What do you think about it?

I lost 5 kg in 2 month

I lost 4 kg for the first month. At this moment - 5kg (two months). Improved health and appeared lightness throughout the body. And this is just the beginning, because weight continues to decline gradually.

Things to search for before signing fitness center agreements

The Better Business Bureau received around 9,400 grievances last year about fitness professionals, health clubs and fitness centers, a 15 percent increase from 2011. However, there are some warning signs to try to find before signing any agreements. Article source: take a review of http://ift.tt/WFeHEJ.

Getting more business in New Year

It makes a ton of sense that gyms and health clubs are ready to take your business as soon as the new year begins considering some of the common New Year's resolutions that people make.

However, New Year's resolutions are also very fickle promises we make to ourselves. And when the reality of just how much effort they require sinks in, many lose interest. However, getting out of fitness center agreements could be a feat in itself, as club owners know this fact and often make the back door hard to find. And getting the charges to stop may sometimes be even harder.

Research the facility

Before you agree to anything and sign up for a gym or club, you need to do a little research. Figure out if it is normally kept clean and if it has everything you can want. You will want to take a look at the facility by going to Angie’s List or the BBB’s website.

Best thing to do is read

The largest amount of grievances logged by the BBB targeted contract problems, with consumers often being promised things by sales people which were not backed up by the agreements they are pressured to sign.

According to a BBB spokeswoman, "The biggest complaints that we get are people who sign the contract, and they didn't read it. So what the sales person told them and what the contract says are two different things."

The biggest tip to keep away from being taken advantage of, then, is to read and understand your contract thoroughly before signing it. If the salesperson is pressuring you to sign, or using pointed phrases to make you feel guilty, tell them you need the pressure dialed down so that you can digest the document. Otherwise, do not do it.

Saying goodbye to contract

Also, ask them for a duplicate of the facility's cancellation policy, in writing. If it asks you to jump through too many hoops before it stops taking your money, you really should look elsewhere.

According to Forbes, a man named John Stark was screwed by his fitness center. Evidently, the gym just turns the contract to a month-to-month one if you cancel your membership. That was in the fine print and could not be stopped unless he sent a letter to the business head office. He was getting charged $200 a month for a membership even after he cancelled it.

Make sure you keep all the paperwork after you take the plunge and sign an agreement just in case there are disputes later.

Teen Looking to Lose Weight

I'm new here, and I joined this because I'm tired of being over-weight/obese. I'm 13, about 250 lbs, and 6'0. I don't even know where to start. I'm looking to lose 100 lbs in about a year. You don't need to write a whole diet/fitness-plan for me, I just need helpful tips.:waving:

It's an Honor and a Pleasure

:waving: Hi everyone,

My name is Sherri. The past 3years have taken a toll on my body, and outlook on life. In 2010/2011 Through the Grace of GOD I defeated Cancer and was sitting on the verge of Diabeties. I weighed 287lbs. In March of 2013 I met my Beachbody Coach who supported me mentally and gave me a means to support myself financially. I can without a doubt testify the program works because I just recently melted off 115lbs within this past year. I have never been healthier and energized in my entire adult life.

Discovering this forum made me feel like a kid in the candy :hurray: store because I'm so eager to help any and all I possibly can.

The Gym Stuff

Yesterday I found out from the horse's mouth that Kazik was ignoring my calls on purpose. Our 3 year friendship is over. That confirms that Kazik though I was obese and disgusting.

Today I went to the gym. I did 10 minutes of walking, half slow, half speed walk. I went to get a pasta for dinner (hadn't eaten all day because I didn't sleep well the night before) and it wasn't enough so I ordered another one. I could feel the people looking at me thinking that I'm a pig. I do think of myself as an obese disgusting loser after Kazik's rejection of me. I didn't finish the second pasta but took the rest home. It was embarrasssing to be at the gym because I felt like the people there were thinking, She's so fat that it's hopeless, who does she think she is exercising here.

I did 2 cycling classes with those in place bikes. Each I was in for 20 minutes. The fat burning one was the most tiring for sure. When I was at the gym my weight was 54.3 kg but then when I went in again after I ate it was 56.5 kg :'( So I guess my real weight is 56.5 kg? Kazik wants my weight to be less than 50 kg. I know our friendship is over but I'll feel like less of a loser if I do it. I wish I could be beautiful, I have this nice image where I'm wearing a chunky gold bracelet and a white top, lying on my back on a yacht.

Oh also today I was trying on a shirt at Marc at Marc Jacobs and I took the XS but the saleswoman snatched it away from me and said, "It's impossible you'll fit into that." I know I would have fit into it because they always say that and then I always fit in with room to spare. And then I wanted to look at the bracelets and she was talking to me in a hostile tone and she didn't want to let me try them on. I guess it's because of my weight.

Child Obesity-Television and Child Obesity Do Go Hand in Hand

With so much screen based media available in today's world, it is hard for parents to keep children away from technology. But besides the fact that the child is kept away from television to focus more on studies, the other concern for parents these days is obesity.

There have been been studies conducted on this topic which establishes a direct link with the time spent in front of the television and child obesity. Each hour the children played video games or watched television doubles......

How To Succeed With Your Diet or Weight Loss Program!

In order to achieve success with your diet or weight loss plan / program, follow these nine (9) steps:

1. Start with a GOAL in mind.

To successfully and purposefully achieve anything, you must have in mind a desired end result or goal. Take a marathon runner for example, before even starting he/she knows that it is 10,000 kilometres to the end of the race and that is how far he/she must run to win or even place in the marathon. Similarly, you must start with a goal of how many pounds you want to shed or lose after completing your weight loss program.

2. Research the BEST route for achieving your final result/goal

The Most Effective And Healthy Diet Plan For Weight Loss.

Hello everybody :waving:!!

You know that one of the factors which drive people to seek a healthy diet plan for weight loss is because of the reason that most of the weight loss plans out there are no good. Due to the greed for money that propels most business people, there has been an exponential growth in bogus sites and companies which are in the business of duping their clients all in the hopes of making a killing. Once you settle your payments, they are done with you and won't bother to say so much as a 'thank you' when they bang the door on your face.

In our quest for an effective weight.....

Keeping personal stats

Hi!

A quick question: have you ever tried to track personal stats to get motivated? I mean monitoring activities like how many bars of chocolate you eat per month or something similar? And if you have, what tools have been used to collect and analyze personal data? Thank you in advance :)

Weight-loss and Diet Myths

Myth: Fad diets will help me lose weight and keep it off.

Healthy habits may help you lose weight.

Make healthy food choices. Half of your plate should be fruits and veggies.

Eat small portions. Use a smaller plate, weigh portions on a scale, or check the Nutrition Facts label for details about serving sizes (see below).

Build exercise into your daily life. Garden, go for family walks, play a pickup game of sports, start a dance club with your friends, swim, take the stairs, or walk to the grocery store or work.

Combined, these habits may be a safe, healthy way to lose weight and keep it off.

Fact: Fad diets are not the best way to lose weight and keep it off. These diets often promise quick weight loss if you strictly reduce what you eat or avoid some types of foods. Some of these diets may help you lose weight at first. But these diets are hard to follow. Most people quickly get tired of them and regain any lost weight.

Fad diets may be unhealthy. They may not provide all of the nutrients your body needs. Also, losing more than 3 pounds a week after the first few weeks may increase your chances of developing gallstones (solid matter in the gallbladder that can cause pain). Being on a diet of fewer than 800 calories a day for a long time may lead to serious heart problems.

My weight loss journey.. Finally I've found something that works!

If I Can Do It... You Can Do It! :)

I've always struggled with my weight, right from a young age. Being the "big kid" or the one who couldn't fit into the football kit, the one who would always say no to the sweets being handed out, in an attempt to make myself feel better... Sound familiar? As I've gotten older, my appearance and size has become the forefront of my problems, as I've always been surrounded by skinny friends, who ironically eat 3 x the amount I eat, live on energy drinks and Coca Cola; yet still get to flaunt their beach bodies wherever they go! I've always been envious, and have literally done everything I could to try and shift some of the flubber.

Some of the craziest diets I've tried have to be the "Beyoncé liquid diet", the "Soup and cabbage diet", water fasting, Slim fast and the green tea diet. All with great triumph and all with great failure!

I've even tried these illegal fat burners from the internet; like T5, T6, Inferno 1 & 2... For a period of time I lived on a concoction of all these burners, with minimal food and 3Litres of water a day. Lets just say the doctor was FAR from pleased.

I went through a phase of binge eating and then making myself sick, to give myself the satisfaction of filling my gut- to convince my brain I had eaten a sufficient amount of food- then eliminate if from my body to prevent any chance of fat gain. I read up on how the body goes into starvation and begins breaking down your fat cells and muscles, to feed off of them.. Which sounded like just what I needed. Again, a disaster.

After so long I completely gave up, drank a lot of alcohol, ate enough fast food for a family of 5- weekly... And kind of thought "well if I'm going to be fat then I might as well do it properly!

After a few years a friend of mine began working for a company who manufactured whole food based supplements. They call them the next best thing to fruits and veg. She had posted a status on Facebook, and as soon as I saw it I thought... "Weight loss? Better hair? Skinny for summer??" I was interested before she had chance to type back to me! I told her I wanted to place an order there and then!

I began my new lifestyle 2 months and 2 weeks ago and I have lost 2 stone in fat! It's absolutely AWESOME!! You literally have all you need the products, the mentor, the support, the recipes.. I couldn't of asked for an easier and more productive weight loss routine.

I'm falling asleep now so if you'd like to find out more info please don't waste a second!

Fuzesjuices@outlook.com if you'd like to email me I'll be more than happy to share more information with you, and possibly help you like she helped me :)

April 2014 "log everything" challenge.

The challenge is to log everything you eat & drink & your exercise every day in April 2014.

I have found it to be a very worthwhile habit & thought a challenge would help get me back into it.

You can choose whichever method, platform or app. you want (mine will be on My Fitness Pal) & you can set your own calorie goal.

This is not a contest, as such, it is more about being accountable.

I am going to set myself a target of 1510 cals per day & will input my exercise, so that when I play golf, for example, I will be able to eat more that day.

You can post whenever you like, or not at all. The more the merrier.

Hope you join me!

Cheers, Cate

Running With My Dad, For My Dad

I have always admired people who run. I have many friends who are avid runners, and wish that I had their motivation to push themselves to conquer 5Ks, 15Ks, half marathons, and marathons. However, the runner who I admire the most is my dad who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He has run approximately 20 races (ranging from 5K to half marathon) since 2010, and his running days may be behind him.

I remember a morning 5K that we went on during Memorial Day weekend 2013. Ignoring my dad's advice of "slow and steady wins the race," I took off and stayed ahead of him for the first mile before I completely gassed out. My dad easily caught up to me, but instead of running ahead of me, he stayed by me to encourage and motivate me to keep pushing myself. Like he had done throughout my life, he refused to leave me behind.

Today, my two older brothers, my sister, her fiancee, and I ran the same 5K path that our neighbors have grown accustomed to seeing my dad run. My stepmom has told me that the neighbors knew something was wrong when they noticed my dad was not running. My siblings and I are going to hold down the routine during our visit home.

However, I do not plan for my running to stop when I leave home to go back to San Diego. I want to run because I want to be ready for WHEN my dad is able to run again. I want to train until we finish a race the same way we have done many things- TOGETHER.

Miles: 3.08

Duration: 38:08

Pace: 12:22

Calories: 487

Treadmill+Self Image

I went on the treadmill today. I was on there for 20 min. 7 is the speed for running. I ran for 7 min, had to stop in the middle and the rest was 5 or 6. 6 is a fast speed walk. I feel like a fat bitch for not being able to run for 20 min. In high school in PE I was always the one walking the mile, getting 13 min. I was exhausted the second I started running. I weigh 57.2 kg (126 pounds apparently) but Kazik wants me to weigh under 50 kg. He wants me to weigh 100 pounds. I called him 5 times yesterday but he's going to ignore me until I lose weight.

Tomorrow a social worker is coming to talk to me about the sexual harassment thing, I finally got up the courage to talk to call them which was awkward for me to say. But I need Kazik. He would make me feel protected and safe. I can understand he wants perfection since he is a good person. I mean let's face it, most men don't want a fat girlfriend. I am selfish since I can't stick to my diet but I am exercising. I envy girls that are not ugly like me. People don't hate them.

Yesterday I couldn't drag myself out of the house at lunchtime because I felt low so I had to buy a burger and fries because it was the only thing open at lunchtime (I live in Taiwan). I could tell that the employees and other customers were thinking about what a fat loser I am, eating junk food. It's my first time eating junk food in 1.5 years but how could they have known that? Today it's 6:30 pm and I haven't eaten yet but I'm not hungry. I guess I'll eat later. I bought something so I don't run into the same problem as yesterday. Kazik would be pleased to hear I didn't eat lunch. I feel so awkward going out in public because I know people think I'm fat and disgusting.

Brand New!

Hey Y'all! I'm new here, and just wanted to say Hello.

A little bit about me- I'm a 23 year old veterinary student living in Alabama (9 hours from my home, Frankfort, KY). Once upon a time I was very athletic and fit (although I've never considered myself "thin"- a fact I wish I could punch my high school self for!), and then the rigorous coursework and stress that comes with eight years of schooling after high school hit me. Since then, my weight has fluctuated worse than Oprah's, and last December I hit rock bottom at my heaviest- 220 pounds.

Then, I decided to do something about it, and started doing the couch to 5k running app. I completed my first 5k a couple of weeks ago, and have lost 20 pounds since I started that in December. I run slower than a herd of turtles stomping through molasses, but I'm still faster than the couch potatoes sitting at home! Anyway, for the past few weeks I've been absolutely stuck. I believe that the obstacles that are keeping me from reaching my goal of 160 pounds are the fact that my schedule as a full time student is literally insane (vet school is the same caliber as med school- class from 8-5 and then studying almost all night- and even when I work out 3-5 times a week I'm afraid that my stress levels keep me from losing), I live off of student loans and have no money for personal trainers or fancy gyms (luckily my apartment complex has a small gym with a few basic necessities, and I love to run outside), and I am an absolutely terrible cook and so I am not very good at eating healthy and I am getting absolutely SICK of eating plain chicken breast and sweet potatoes all of the time!

In a nutshell, what I've been doing is eating as healthy as I can and keeping tack with the myfitnesspal ap, running 3 times a week, and hitting the weights 2-3 times a week. I know I need to be more strict with my diet- but the obstacles above make it so difficult!

Does anybody have any advice on how to put those stupid excuses behind me?! I've been stuck at the same weight for weeks and it is becoming discouraging.

Thanks for all of your help! I'm so excited to join this forum :)

must try this new program!

About a year ago I joined the gym in an effort to lose some kgs, knowing my motivation was lacking I signed up with a personal trainer. After 6 months I was starting to see some results, although they weren't coming along as quickly as I had imagined. I had changed my diet and lifestyle but still struggled to achieve the physical change I was looking for. My trainer had previously mentioned some sort of nutritional program to me which I had ignored, I believed that a healthy diet and exercise was all I needed, and I've always been reluctant to jump on the weight loss shake bandwagon. But in my frustration I looked into this so called program, it's called Isagenix, if you haven't heard of this before you have got to look into it. My first thought was wow this is a little pricey (it's costs me around $300 a month) but then I thought if I'm going to whinge and moan about not losing weight but I'm not willing to spend a little money to get there then really I've got nothing to complain about, so I begrudgingly gave it a go.

Wow is all I can say. There are different 'systems' available, I obviously opted for the weight loss system, but theres sports and performance and wellness systems also. Ultimately it acts as a type of meal replacement program, you have 3 shakes a day but heres the best part, you still have 2 regular meals in and around that. The shakes taste amazing (chocolate yum yum), and the best part is the results. After 6 weeks I lost 30 kg, with no change to what I was already doing, I got my boyfriend on board, he lot 20kg, without exercising!! I was still pretty skeptical, I mean yes I got results in the beginning but isn't that always the case before you stop getting any results at all. Not the case. I stayed on the program and I'm now down to a size 10...60kg starting from close to 100kg, I've changed to the sports and performance pack and I've actually got abs now!! Now yes I did exercise to get here, it's not all in the diet, but my partner has hit his goal weight without any exercise, he may not be rocking a toned bod like me, but he's had a huge change also.

I really recommend people looking into this product if they need to shake up their regime and try something different, since my experience I can not stop singing it's praises. Best part...you order online and you can have it automatically shipped every month, and if you sign up rather than making once off purchases you save heaps. I am more than happy to help anyone who wants more info with this, and if anyone wants to jump on board I'm happy to help with the signup process (only catch with signing up is you need a referrer, otherwise you can just buy once of supplies). Please everyone trying to lose weight without success or struggling with those last kilos, this program is amazing give it a go, I highly recommend it!!

Third Times a Charm?????

Been a few years since I've been back here. To give an overall recap I've spent the last 4 1/2 years working in Kuwait for a security contractor. In that time I had keep my weight pretty much in tack staying around 180. When I left for Kuwait I was at 170. So I was quite proud of myself for keeping most of the 50 lbs I had lost off. But things changed for me this past few months. My contract in Kuwait has ended and am now back home looking for work. Losing my contract in Kuwait was a pretty big hit on me and in doing so I got pretty lazy gain several pounds back. So this morning as I was laying in bed I remembered all the good support I got the last time I was here in my adventure of losing weight and getting myself in better health. So now I'm back, hoping to get that same support and motivation.

My goal is to get myself back to better health and to lose weight. Right now I'm sitting at 207 lbs (UGH!!!!). I'm setting my goal back to my original goal of 160 lbs. So basically I want to lose 47 lbs total. BUT.... I am not going to get bent out of shape if I don't get to my goal weight, it is just the min. weight I want to get to. Basically it is my ultimate goal weight. The last time I attempted to get to 160 I was only able to reach 170 and was unable to get any closer. But I was happy I got that far.

So wish me luck, and I'll be checking in here as much as I can with updates, progression and motivation from you all. I'll try to get some pics loaded as soon as I get a chance to do it.

Have you tried re-programming your mind to think thin?

I tried loads of diets over 30 years and my weight would yo-yo up and down, up and down until I discovered a biblical proverb - "As a man thinks in his heart so is he". I applied this to my weight loss regime and, guess what?, it worked! Has anyone else tried NLP in their weight loss regime?

Need Some Tips/Help

Hi, first off I'd like to say I'm new to the forums so sorry if this is the wrong spot to post this, I didn't see a good spot to post this, but I thought this was closest to where it should be.

a little bit about me:

I am 16 years old, I weigh 180, im about 5.6/7"(Not 100% sure but close to that).

So basically as you can tell from my info I am quite overweight. I would like to start changing that in my life, but I do have an issue. I currently have moderate/severe asthma which is quite hard for me. The issue is if I barely do any running, or basically any type of physical activity my asthma is triggered almost instantly, which is why I don't know the best way to do this. Does anyone have any tips as to the best way to get started with losing weight? I know this doesn't give a lot of info but I don't really know what else to post, haha. So if you guys have any questions / info that you need about me in order to help a bit more, just ask, and ill try to give whatever is needed.

Hello! New to this board...

Hello all :)

I'm gabby. I just joined today...I figured the extra support is always helpful.

I've been up and down with my weight for years.

I've also been in and out with my fitness/healthy eating habits.

I know without a doubt that I will reach my goal this time around!

Diet:

I use an app on my phone to count calories and keep track of what I eat. It really helps me keep myself accountable for what I eat!

I've cut out soda all together...the only thing I drink is water.

I eat more fruit and veggies...

I've cut back on cheese and bread. I'm trying to cut the bread out all together, but it's been a bit challenging! I love bread!

Fitness:

I use a app on my phone to track my runs/walks/jogs and I also use wii fit to warm up or just have fun. Wii fit also helps me keep track of my weight. Every time I step I the wii fit board, it weighs me and saves all the progress.

Height: 5'4

Weight: 190

Goal weight: 145

My long term goal

Weight is 145....but for short term goals I use something else and it helps me a lot! So right now my short term goal is to get in the 80's! Once I reach the 80's, I get super excited and it motivates me even more to reach the next short term goal...get into the 70's. Then the 60's, then 50's....and finally the 40's! But I like looking at it that way rather than a actual number goal. Hopefully I get the motivation/support I need from the forum members.

For now, I'll just share my face. Maybe once I reach one of my goals, I'll share a before and after pic.

Could you help me producing an efficient weight loss program?

Hi everyone!

I was a bit lost when I came on this forum but i've read the thread "Aerobics 101" that really helped me understand which one of H.I.I.T. or "Fat Burning Zone" provides the best results. Now I have some questions about my personal reality and I would really appreciate it if you guys could guide me. I would like to have a weight loss program that fits me. Something that will be super efficient.

My gym membership ceases in 1 month, but I literally live beside my gym (literally!). I'm not sure about how it would reflect on my body, but I think I would like to loose 6 to 10 pounds. My eating habits are healthy in general: I am a vegetarian. And since I live in a dorm, I eat mostly salads, chick peas, spinach. I can do 1200 calories a day (the recommended amount for me to loose weight). The only problem is that I LOVE cheese and I am not sure if I should cut it altogether (please say no). I started to drink beers every week (2-3 pints) in the last month. Oops.

To this point, I was doing 45 minutes of elliptic bike at hills with interval (80% to 90% of my MHR), 15 minutes of musculation (3 series of 15 abdominal exercices, 3 series of 15 on the butt workout machine (the awkward one with the legs spread out)) and 5 minutes of stretch. I did not have any results. But maybe it was because I only did that 2 times to 1 time a week. And I did not increase the difficulty (but how could I, really? I don't know if what I'm doing is any good for a start)

As you can see I like simple workout. I have been searching for MONTHS to find appropriate exercices for me. I hate the idea of circuit training and all that. It seems all too complicated to remember as well as being too intense. I wouldn't mind going to the pool.

What do you suggest: Should I go to the gym every day and do a 15 min HIIT exercice? Is there any way I could keep those 2 days work out and integrate other kind of exercices for the other days? Is this realist to try to loose 6-10 pounds in a month?

Feel free to leave me any comments that would help me! Thank you very much for taking your time to read me and have a nice day.

Hello Everyone! New Here

Hello

Got this forum from google, i want to get updates every now and then about fitness.

Thanks

Support please

One week ago I was sexually molested and to make a long story short, going on a diet is the only way I feel like I have some control. A guy that I like who is a friend ignored my calls when the guy was at my house and has been ignoring me since then. I tried but failed (took too many pills, but I woke up..) to face the reality, which makes me feel unsafe when I think that I had to face it alone. For now it helps me to trick myself into believing that Kazik does care, can't really do that easily since I don't talk to him so by creating the premise that he is waiting for me to lose weight before we talk, I can believe it more easily.

Yes, I am getting the help I need - counseling, but for now in the short term I need to have a diet because it makes me feel that I have control. Just now, I broke the diet and I feel so terrible, all the feelings from the aftermath of the weekend have completely flooded in again, I can't even describe it. To be fair, I was probably hungrier because I took too many pills the other day and I didn't really eat afterwards...people, please support me and tell me "you can do it"....thank you so much.........I can't do this alone...I tried to post my story on another forum but it was deleted, I guess you're not supposed to talk about negative issues? IDK, hope it's okay that I posted this here

Fasting Diets

Hey guys,

I'm a health researcher/writer and I run a health and weight loss blog, and as part of my work I've lately been researching fasting diets (the fast diet, the 5:2 diet...). The initial results seem to be very positive.

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who has had any experience with this type of diet and how it went.

Regards,

John

Experience With Weight Loss Supplements

Hey guys,

I'm new to the board. First of all I'm a health and wellness researcher/writer and I run my own health and weight loss blog. As part of that, I'm wondering about what real experiences people have had with the variety of natural weight loss supplements out there. I'm talking about everything such as raspberry ketones, garcinia cambogia, hoodia, green tea extract, yacon etc etc..

Has anyone actually seen real, measurable results with some of these products? I've seen many studies that either support or debunk these products, but I was wondering what real experiences people have had.

Thanks,

John

What is it going to take? I'm so frustrated, but apparently NOT frustrated ENOUGH?!

I'm so tired of being a depressed, self destructive, fat sack of crap. In the past, I was able to lose a decent amount of weight (27lb), but I guess I must have some emotional baggage from a family issue, because I can NOT get back on track and it's seriously ridiculous. It shouldn't be that hard to just NOT EAT SO MUCH and maybe MOVE once in a while.

Right now, physically, I just feel horrible. My back hurts really bad, I never have energy, I'm always physically and mentally tired or in a fog, with aches and pains or just no motivation. I also do get sick easily, so doing much outside until it warms up a little more is kind of a "well, what's it look like outside today?" day by day thing.

My boyfriend is great, but we never have sex. Part of it is due to his job and the medicine he takes for depression. There's no way that the other part of it isn't me just being unattractive. We have a good relationship and I love him. Don't want to lose him. So, there's that, too. You would think I'd be willing to do it for him, at least, but STILL I can't get my shit together.

I don't have the money or time to see a therapist. My health is fine, I'm just fat. And I'm on meds for depression. I'm usually OK, when I remember to take them. I just need to do it.

I don't know, can someone maybe kick me in the ass or something? Because I'm afraid I'm going to just come home with Tim Horton's again. Yeah I feel bad about it now, but once I have it, the bad feelings are gone and I'm happy. That isn't normal.

I need to leave for work now.

Fuck me.

Helo...Me New Here !

Jumping Back on the Wagon!

Hi everyone my name is Melissa, I am 31 and I am new to this forum and I am just staring my weight loss journey again! I lost over 100 lbs before I had my first child and she is now 2. My weight just slowly crept back on over those couple of years. I lost the weight before by just exercising and common sense healthy eating along with portion control. I am also making videos of all of my progress, weigh-ins and would like to do a little weight loss support group. If you want to see them just search for myrealtimeweightloss in YouTube and you can track my progress. I am so excited to get healthy so I can keep up with my daughter and be around to see her grow!

question about how many pounds to lose in a week.

I currently started my weight loss plan about a month ago, i was always told that you should never lose more then 2lbs in a week. I have been eating good about 1500 calories a day and am definitely not starving myself in any way or over exercising (i go to the gym once a week), but i am averaging about 4lbs a week, but wouldn't a person who is over 100lbs overweight tend to loose quicker in the first few months then someone who is say 50lbs overweight??
